Chapter 88 His Tenderness
Chapter 88 His Tenderness
"Be careful in the next two days. Don't touch any water, or the wound will get infected."
After putting on the band-aid, Brandon looked into my eyes and warned me.
I looked at him in a daze. I was still immersed in the tenderness he had just shown me, and I was a
little dazed.
Seeing that I was silent and looking at him in a daze, Brandon frowned and looked at me unhappily.
"Hollie, I'm talking to you. Have you lost your voice?"
I came to my senses and looked at Brandon's handsome face. I looked away in a panic and stopped
looking at him. I lowered my head and continued to cut the vegetables.
Brandon glanced at me and returned to the living room to continue waiting for his food. About half an
hour later, I brought the prepared food to the table. He was already sitting waiting at the table.
I cooked a simple meal with soup as an appetizer. I wasn't a professional cook, and I only knew how to
cook simple homecooked dishes. I didn't know why Brandon liked to come here for dinner since my
food was not even good.
His housekeeper must have prepared better meals for him at his villa.
The two of us faced each other and ate our dinner in silence. I was thinking about what my mother had
told me over the phone today. I hesitated if I should ask Brandon.
"Did you give my parents 100,000 dollars?"
In the end, I asked the question. If I didn't ask, this matter would always be buried in my heart and
make me very uncomfortable.
Anyway, I'd made Brandon angry more than once, what's one more time?
"You found out so soon?"
Hearing my question, he was not surprised at all. He was still eating his dinner gracefully, as if what I
said had nothing to do with him.
"So it's really you. Why did you send money to my parents?"
I put down my fork, frowned, and asked Brandon.
"Didn't you say that you were tired of supporting your family alone that day? Now that you are my
woman, you don't have to be so tired. I can give your family 100,000 dollars a month." From NôvelDrama.Org.
Brandon said these words with an air of superiority.
I understood what he meant. It turned out that he suddenly sent 100,000 dollars to my parents because
of what I said to him that night. Did he think that I said those words to ask him for money?
After I came to my senses, I became angry. What did Brandon take me as? Did he think that I said
what I said for money?
"Brandon, I think you misunderstood something. I want to find someone to rely on, not to let him bear
the burden of my family. I want someone to lend me a shoulder when I'm tired and helpless."
He thought of me as a materialistice woman. I was unhappy, but I still patiently explained it to him.
"What's the use of that? If you have a shoulder to cry on, then you don't need to make money and carry
the burden of your family anymore? Hollie Hunter, what a naive thought!"
Brandon sneered disdainfully and looked at me with his eyes full of sarcasm.
My expression changed, and I glared at Brandon angrily. Even though I couldn't deny that women at
my age were somewhat materialistic given what we had been through, he couldn't just stereotype us
like this. Not everyone was materialistic.
This was my family. It would be unfair to the man if I had just found someone to share the burden of my
family.
I was a selfish person, but I wasn't selfish enough to get a man to fulfil my family's neverending needs.
Actually, my father's medical expenses were just a small part of my financial problems. My brother
spent more. I had a younger brother who had never had a job in his life. He was always loitering about
with a group of thugs and often got into trouble. He even got into gambling. Over the past few years, I
had helped him repay countless debts.
If it was just my father's medical expenses, I wouldn't have had such a hard time. But my brother's
gambling debt was neverending. He was already addicted to gambling. Every time I helped him clear a
debt, he would swear that he would never gamble again, only to turn around and accumulate more
debt.
If I found a man just to help me with this, then I would be the most selfish woman in the world.
"Brandon, I may be ridiculously naive in your eyes, but this is what I want. I didn't say what I said that
day for your money. I just wanted you to understand where I was coming from so that you can leave
me alone and stop interfering in my life."
I looked into Brandon's eyes and said earnestly, word by word.
"If you want to rely on your own ability to support your family, how long do you think you can last? Just
be my woman for half a year. I'll give you enough money to last your for the rest of your life once our
relationship is over."
I didn't know what Brandon liked about me. Why did he keep asking me to be his woman?
I wasn't ugly, but I wasn't a stunning beauty either. A man like Brandon could have any woman he
wanted. He just needed to wave a hand and countless women would leap into his embrace. I didn't
understand why he wanted me so much.
"What's the difference between this and prostitution? Am I just a prostitute to you?"
I couldn't deny that it was a good deal for me to stay with him for another half a year just for the money,
but what about my dignity? Could I really give up my dignity for money?
I had given up my dignity once for 200,000 dollars. I knew what that felt like, so I didn't want to do it
again.
Brandon's sharp eyebrows furrowed, and his tone was full of anger. "You said it, not me. Hollie, what's
wrong with being my woman? Do you know how many women would relish this opportunity? Why do
you keep rejecting me and keep trying to run away from me?"
A man as high and mighty as him was probably used to women trying to please him. It was probably
rare for him to meet a woman like me who didn't respond to any of his gestures. He was already
surprisingly patient with me.
"You can give me money, but you can't give me what I want. I want to find a boyfriend that I can show
to the world. I want to get married and have children. This is what I want, but you can't give that. Since
you can't give me what I want, why can't you let go? Brandon, we are not from the same world at all."
He thought I wanted money, but only I knew what I wanted.
