Chapter 19 Hopeless
"You must have made a mistake. Why am I the most distinguished guest?"
Esther asked in disbelief.
"We didn't make any mistake. Mr. Mester told us that you are the most distinguished guest tonight."
The guard answered seriously.
"But..."
Esther even didn't know what to say.
She had never been welcome like this.
She was the daughter of the Jefferson family, but the people in the family didn't like her at all.
How could she be the most distinguished guest for Mr. Mester?
Was it because of Chris?
Esther's heart was pounding.
The pure-gold invitation was real.
She was James Mester's most distinguished guest.
So, Chris must have a very shocking identity...
"Impossible! You must be kidding!"
"Esther is just a joke in East Coast!"
The Collins and the Jeffersons didn't want to accept the truth.
They didn't believe this at all.
They were all stopped by the guards, but Esther was the most distinguished guest.
How ridiculous!
"Shut up. Don't you believe Mr. Mester's words?"
The leader of the guards glanced coldly at them.
The Jeffersons and the Collins didn't dare to face his sharp eyes. They all lowered their heads and
didn't speak.
Susan came over and asked the guard, "Why are they standing at the gate?"
The guard snorted, "They are on the blacklist, so they are not allowed in."
"Oh, I see."
Susan was gloating over this.
"Esther, give me the invitation!"
Henry Jefferson suddenly said to Esther.
"Grandpa, what do you mean?"
Esther asked Henry in surprise.
"Give me the invitation, if you still regard yourself as one of us."
"On my birthday, your husband threatened us to apologize to you on our knees in seven days."
"Such a madman is not qualified to be my grandson-in-law. You must divorce him!"
Henry said this with his sharp eyes staring at Esther.
He had his own plan.
Felix and Patrick also knew his plan very well.
The Jefferson family was not allowed in.
But Esther had the pure-gold invitation.
If they got the invitation, the Jefferson family would be able to attend the banquet as the most
distinguished guests.
It would make the family respected and soon become the first-class family.
"Esther, did you hear that? Do you want to disobey your grandfather?"
Felix stood out and forced Esther to give them the invitation.
Patrick sneered, "Esther, give us the invitation, or you'll regret it."
"Grandpa, Uncle! Why do you force me like this?"
They were family.
But now, they wanted to swallow her like beasts.
Esther was very disappointed with them. Meanwhile, she was hopeless.
"Dad, how can you do this?"
John and Susan stood out to help their daughter.
"Shut up. You have no right to speak here!"
"If you want to come back to the family, ask Esther to give us the invitation and then divorce Chris
Shelby!"
"Don't you want to come back? Do you want to live in the old house forever?"
"Ask Esther to give us the card and divorce Chris Shelby. Then I will allow you to come back, and I will
let Esther be the general manager of our group."
"But if you refuse, you'll never be able to come back, and I will no longer regard you as my son!"
Facing Henry's threat, both Susan and John were hesitant.
They really wanted to go back to the family.
"Esther, give him the family, and divorce Chris. He's just a loser!"
After hesitating a while, Susan finally said to Esther.
"What? Mom! Even you force me."
Esther's eyes turned red.
"Esther, don't listen to them. Give me the family. I will not force you."
At this moment, Michael suddenly said to Esther.
Michael also knew Henry's plan. Definitely, he also wanted the pure-gold family.
With the card, the Collins family would be able to attend the banquet and know many people in the
upper class.
Then, the family would be famous and get more opportunities.
"Esther, listen. Give us the card. The Collins family is your home."
Laurence also persuaded Esther with a kind smile.
In an instant, the Collins and the Jeffersons started the battle for the pure-gold invitation in Esther's
hand.
"Michael Collins! You want to offend me, huh?"
Henry glared at Michael and threatened him.
However, Michael didn't care about his threat.
He snorted, "I'm not afraid of you, Henry Jefferson. My daughter married into your family, but we have
never got any benefit. I shouldn't have asked her to marry your son!"
The Collins and the Jeffersons stared at each other. Nobody wanted to give up.
"Esther, you are a Jefferson! Give me the invitation!"
"Don't listen to him, Esther. He expelled your parents long ago."
"I'm your uncle, Esther..."
"Esther, we are family..."
They kept forcing Esther, and nobody cared about her feeling.
Esther felt dizzy all of a sudden.
Everyone, including her grandfather, uncle, and her family.
They all forced her...
Esther had been abandoned by them. Nobody cared about her.
She was so hopeless!
But she still had Chris!
She held the card and said firmly, "No. I won't give it to anyone. Chris gave me this. He gave me this!"
"Esther, do you want to disobey me?"
"Give me the invitation, or you'll no longer be one of us!"
"You'll be hated by the Collins family!"
Esther refused them all. Henry and Michael shouted at her at the same time.
They all surrounded Esther.
They stared at her with their greedy eyes like beasts.
Esther held the invitation tightly. She trembled in fear.
But she didn't change her mind!
"Chris, where are you?"
"Hurry. I can't hold any longer!"
Esther's face turned pale. She was forced by so many people.
She couldn't control her tears.
The only thing on her mind was Chris's face.
She even didn't know when Chris became so important to her. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
"Vroom!" Just at this moment, the loud sound of the engine made the earth shake.
People instantly stopped arguing and hurriedly turned around.
Hundreds of tanks and military vehicles drove over.
The dust rose as the vehicles drove.
"What's going on?"
The sudden scene shocked everyone.
Before they came back to their senses, they saw five thousand armed soldiers coming over with a
measured march.
Every time they took steps, the earth would shake.
The tanks and vehicles stopped at the gate.
Five thousand soldiers were divided into several rows.
Their faces were very serious.
They were quiet, but the pressure from them was overwhelming.
