Chapter 147

Chapter 147 Nicholas’ Search

Nicholas arrived at Nancy’s new place and rang the doorbell repeatedly, but after a few minutes, no one came to answer the door. He knocked, but received no response. He then took out his phone and called Nancy, but she did not answer.

Nancy was in a taxi. After Lynn left, she packed her clothes in a small suitcase and headed to the airport. She had told Linda she would stay at her place for a few days. Linda was shooting a film near the sea in the south, and when she invited Nancy to join her, Nancy agreed. She loved the sea.

Before boarding the flight, Nancy saw missed calls from Nicholas, but she only glanced at them before turning off her phone and putting it in her bag. The plane took off, and Nancy looked at the white clouds outside. They resembled marshmallows, which made her feel better.

Nicholas was becoming frantic in his search. He called Nancy multiple times, but she did not answer. He put his phone down, feeling dejected. It was then that he realized he knew very little about her. Besides Hugo, she had no family in the city. She wouldn’t seek him out, so Nicholas had no idea where she might be going.

Apart from Linda, he had no knowledge of her circle of friends or former classmates. He only knew a little about Linda because Nancy often mentioned her, and she was a popular actress. As for her old classmates and usual hangouts, he had no information. Without any clues, he couldn’t find anything.

Ten minutes later, Lynn called. “Sir, I found her. She boarded a flight to Swania..

“Swania?” She went to Swania without telling anyone? I never heard her mention it. “Did she buy a return ticket?” His heart filled with trepidation. He was worried she might not come back.

“She did. Her return flight is scheduled for three days later.”

“What time?”

“Around eleven in the morning.”

“I see.” And Nicholas hung up.

After Nancy disembarked, she saw a woman in a yellow shirt holding a sign that said “Nancy!”

The woman was Shannon, Linda’s new assistant. She was adorable and young. Nancy had heard that she was only eighteen and had dropped out of school due to her family’s financial difficulties. She had held a few jobs before landing this one.

They went to the hotel, and when they entered the room, Nancy caught a whiff of hot pot. She took a few steps forward and saw a steaming pot of hot pot with a variety of food laid out around it. There were even drinks and sauces. Nancy was surprised. They spared no expense. “Where’s Linda?” Nancy asked.

Shannon explained, “She’s still on set shooting her film. She knew you liked hot pot and were looking forward to it, so she told us to prepare everything for you to enjoy it while it’s hot. You can start without her.”

“Will she be long?”

“I’m not sure. The scenes today are challenging. If everything goes smoothly, it’ll be quick. Otherwise, it might take a few hours.”

“I see.”

“Dig in, Nancy. Let me know if you need anything. I’ll give you my number.”

Shannon left. Nancy turned off the gas and unpacked her luggage. Once she finished, she leaned on the couch and fell asleep without realizing it.

Linda entered the room and wondered why Nancy hadn’t eaten anything, but then she saw her sleeping on the couch.

Hearing the noise, Nancy woke up. When she saw Linda, she rubbed her eyes. “Linda, you’re back. What time is it?” Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

“It’s sometime after three. I told you to start without me.”

Nancy stood up. “I had to wait. You prepared this for me, so I couldn’t eat it all by myself. Besides, it’s boring to have hot pot alone. It’s better to have a friend.”

“That’s true.”

The ladies sat down and turned on the stove. Steam filled the air a while later, followed by the aroma of hot pot broth. Nancy looked at the food and realized that all of her favorites were there. The broth wasn’t too heavy either.

Linda must have ordered a light broth because she was concerned about Nancy’s health. Linda loved spicy food, but she sacrificed that for her friend.

“You shouldn’t have, Linda.”

“Oh, it’s alright. I have some sauce. I made some spicy ones myself. Besides, they’ve been restricting me from eating anything spicy lately. They say it affects my skin.” Linda was frustrated. She loved spicy food, but her body didn’t agree. Every time she ate something spicy, she would get pimples.

Because of her job, she had to use a lot of products on her face to make it look better, especially if she had a pimple.

Nancy listened to her complaints and comforted her. “This means you’re popular. Many people are watching you. If you weren’t popular, no one would care.”

Linda nodded. “You’re right. Oh, Nancy, you always know what to say. It makes me happy. So, when are you moving to my place?” Linda asked.

“I’ve already moved in,” Nancy replied.

“What?” Linda raised her head, staring at her friend in shock. “So, you and Nicholas are…”

“Yes.” Nancy nodded. Seriously, she answered, “We’re divorced.”

Linda’s food fell onto her plate. She still couldn’t believe it. “Really?”

“We got the certificate last night, and I moved in a few hours ago.”

Linda fell silent. She was close to Nancy, so she knew how deeply in love Nancy was with Nicholas. Nancy had had a crush on him for ten years. Linda couldn’t imagine what it was like. Nancy had fought for a long time, and it was a bitter battle. Linda could never forget the day Nancy happily hugged her, smiling like the happiest girl in the world. “Linda, I’m so happy. I’m so, so happy. I’m going to marry him. I can’t believe it. It’s like a dream. I’m actually going to be his wife. Pinch me. I want to see if I’m dreaming.”

Linda rubbed Nancy’s face as hard as she could with a smile. “My dear Nancy, I can confirm that you are definitely not dreaming. This is real.”
