My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 33

Chapter 33

“Candice? Innocent? Isnt she in the next room with that old man, Humphrey Sieg snorted, his tone tinged with disgust. “Everyone here is aware of the type of man he is.”

Humphrey Moore was Infamously difficult to handle and known for his craftiness in the Dominaton City business scene.

Despite Candice having drunk five glasses, Humphrey had still not shifted their conversation to business matters.

He gave her another glass of wine.

Humphrey’s delight was evident as he flattered Candice

“I’ve heard so much about you, Ms. Renault. As it turns out, you’re so gorgeous in person. Mr. Elysian is one fortunate man.”

Candice, not adept at handling alcohol, found herself in an uncomfortable situation with Humphrey.

When she had social engagements, she would typically bring along an assistant. Unfortunately, she was unable to find a suitable partner

for this outing.

She attempted to cover her glass and stopped Humprey from pouring more wine into it.

That man took advantage of the situation by grabbing her hand and giving it a little squeeze.

He praised, “You’re very young. Ms. Renault. You have such beautiful skin.”

Candice, dizzy from the wine as she was, withdrew her hand abruptly. She forced down her discomfort, got to her feet, and said. “Excuse

me, I need to go to the restroom.”

She felt dizzy from the alcohol she had ingested and leaned against the washbasin for some time, trying to keep the nausea at bay.

The hotel’s hallway seemed endless. Candice slowly made her way out of the restroom.

The mere thought of Humphrey’s lustful stare was enough to make her feel sick to her stomach.

She bumped into the individual who emerged from a private room just as she was walking past it.

Sieg was taken aback when he ran across Candice. He instinctively took a few steps back as he smelled booze on her.

Candice briefly met his eyes before shifting her attention to Alex. She muttered. “Sorry.”

Sieg stepped out of the room to answer a phone call. He walked by her, impatiently warning. “Hey, get out of my way!”

Left alone at the doorway. Candice felt inexplicably rooted to the spot, standing there in a trance until someone from inside a room called

her name.

“Candice.”

Hearing her name, Candice looked up. She heard someone say, “Close the door.”

She quickly regained her composure, silently did so, and returned to her private room.

After Candice departed, the man who had spoken earlier expressed a tinge of remorse, wondering, “Was I too harsh? She looked like she

was going to cry.”

His friend, however, chuckled and dismissed his concems, “Stop blabbering nonsense. Hurry up! It’s your turn to drink up!”

Back in her private room, Candice found that Humphrey’s secretaries had gone. He was the only person left in the room.

When Candice entered, he motioned to the full glass of wine and said, “Ms. Renault, remember our agreement: we won’t leave tonight until

we’ve had our fill of drinks.”

However, she was aware that his intentions were not genuinely business–related.

She glanced at the glass and pushed it away, refusing. “Mr. Moore, I’ve reached my limit with alcohol for today. I don’t think it’s a proper occasion to talk about business. Let’s schedule another time.”

Attempting to leave, she was stopped by Humphrey, who, in a sleazy voice, remarked, “The best time for business talks is after a few

drinks.”

Feeling nauseated and repulsed, Candice desperately struggled to free her wrist from his grip.

Amid the struggle, the door swung open, and a man’s indifferent voice inquired, “Candice, how long will you keep me waiting?”

She turned to find Alex standing there. His gaze fell unwittingly on her.

Meanwhile, Alex showed no urgency to leave quickly. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

He rolled down his car window, his attention casually drifting towards the neon lights outside.

In a mocking tone, he questioned. “When did business deals start requiring such efforts from you?” Candice massaged her forehead and said nothing. She was suffering from a splitting
