Mayra had hardly slept last night, only getting around five hours of rest before leaving the Barlow mansion. After walking for over an hour, she finally hailed a cab. Her wallet contained only loose change, barely enough to sustain her for a while.

As she stepped out of the car outside the school gate, Mayra, clutching her uncomfortable stomach, stumbled forward. At the moment she was about to fall, a hand reached out to support her.

When Mayra saw the person beside her, her eyes lit up. “Gordon.

“Have some breakfast first. No rush. I’ve helped you take leave for the morning. class.” Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

Mayra wolfed down three croissants and then drank a carton of milk. Using the back of her hand, she wiped away the croissant crumbs from her mouth.

Then, she sincerely explained, “Gordon, please don’t ignore me because of what happened last night. I’ve already talked to Andy. I’m all grown up now, and I don’t need his money anymore. Gordon, can you teach me how to make money?”

From a young age, Mayra had scavenged food from trash cans because Anderson often disappeared for days to earn money. When her food ran out, she could only scavenge for things to eat.

At that time, she didn’t know anything and could only wait at home for him to return. But that was usually a rare occurrence.

Even when Mayra was going through tough times, she never went out to work. She was too young to be hired, and by the time she was around 15, she was already living a privileged life with Anderson in the Barlow family.

She attended prestigious schools and had the best private tutors to teach her. After college, she went abroad to study, so she held high qualifications.

Mayra had only endured hardships for a few years. She had been too well protected by Anderson.

It was precisely because he treated her too well that she wanted to keep her

distance from him. She didn’t want to have anything to do with the monsters from the Barlow family.

When she left the Barlow mansion early in the morning, she left the credit card Anderson had given her in that room.

Since Anderson was the one who gave her the card, Mayra had never used any money from there.

She wanted to tell those people that she lived with Anderson because she truly regarded him as her only family member. She had never coveted his money.

Gordon gazed into her clear eyes, seeing the innocence within them. Someone like her deserved to be loved by everyone.

The bell signaling the end of the morning class echoed through the classroom. Gordon patted her head and said, “You should go to class now.”

“Gordon, Andy doesn’t mean any harm to you. Don’t be mad at him. He’s just used to taking care of me. He’s worried that I’ll be deceived by others.”

Gordon nodded. “I know.”

Mayra took a few steps, then turned back to look at him.

After she had entered the school, Gordon left the school to attend to his own affairs.

Not far away, in a black sedan, an old woman in her 80s was sitting in the back seat. She was holding a cane. “Is she the sister Andy raised outside?”

Sitting in the passenger seat, the butler, Fred Wynn, held a photo and a girl’s past information. As he compared the photo with Mayra, he nodded. “Yes, M

“Mayra Sadler’s biological parents rescued Mr. Anderson back then, but they later died in a car accident. Mr. Anderson took her in after that. Apart from Mr. Anderson, Ms. Fisher also found out not long ago. Ms. Sadler has been well protected.”

The old woman sighed and shook her head. “If it weren’t for the Fisher family’s phone call last night, I would still be wondering how my grandson could do su

“I personally chose Isabel as my granddaughter–in–law. For the sake of an outsider, he brought shame upon the Fishers in front of their relatives. Regardless of the reason, he was wrong to do so.”

“No matter how important the matter is Isabel should be his priority!” Sonia Woodard exclaimed, banging her cane in anger.

“Andy should know better. If it weren’t for Mayra, he wouldn’t have hidden outside for over a decade before coming back.”

Fred said, “Madam Sonia, Mr. Anderson has always been a smart kid. He has completely taken control of Everton Corporation after only three years upon his return. It shows that he hasn’t abandoned everything he learned in the Barlow family during his years away.

“Madam Sonia, think of it as Mr. Anderson gaining experience outside.”
