Chapter 104

Chapter 104

Well, there’s just one truth.

Penelope lied.

Allison got home and carefully took off her dress, prepping it for the dry cleaners the next day. She’d return it to Nanette Willett when she gets the chance.

In the bathroom, warm water flowed down her cheeks. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Allison’s hand touched the spot on her collarbone

There was a bite mark, still faintly visible even under her makeup.

Her fingers trembled slightly, then her eyes snapped open.

Hot water got into her eyes, causing a sting

This was the mark left by Lucian one night. It bled, swelled, scabbed over, and once healed, left this scar

Her fingers trembled lightly

The spot seemed to heat up, burning

At tonight’s banquet, they didn’t interact at all. He seemed to be standing at a height she couldn’t reach.

Once again, she clearly saw the gap between them.

They were never from the same world…….

When Allison came out of the shower, her phone rang.

It was Dr. Dylan

She answered, and on the other end, Dr. Dylan’s voice came through, somewhat apologetic, “Sorry to bother you so late, Allison I just forgot to ask, are you available tomorrow night?”

“I have work tomorrow night,” Allison said.

On the other end, Dr. Dylan quickly asked, “How about the day after? Are you available then?”

“I can do lunch the day after What’s up, Dr. Dylan?”

“I want to take you to lunch as a thank you for your help today. And why are you calling me Dr. Dylan again?” He didn’t want to be so formal with her.

“It’s okay…”

“Allison, I really do want to treat you to a meal.

Allison didn’t refuse this time, and smiled faintly, “Alright.”

Meanwhile, the banquet at the Starlight Hotel had ended.

Cora came out of Carter’s resting room and suddenly remembered, “Where’s Kamilla? How come I haven’t seen her all night?”

Next to her, David said, “Earlier she went to play poker with a few ladies. Not sure which resting room she’s in now.”

Cora didn’t take it to heart and said, “David, go find her. Tell her to head home when she’s done playing.”

“You know her temperament. Let her enjoy herself since she’s happy today. I’ll have some people wait for her here.”

“Alright then.”

Cora said, “Carter’s already asleep. He’ll stay here tonight. You can take him home tomorrow. I’ll be leaving first. If there’s anything, get in touch with Zachary Lindberg”

“Don’t worry. I’ll personally stay here tonight.”

Cora nodded at David David looked at her, suddenly seeming to zone out

‘Cora

Cora picked up her phone, stopped in her tracks, and gave David a look, “Anything else?”

“Nothing. I have the driver take you home.”

Cora glanced at the text message on her phone and sighed. It was from Jason.

He couldn’t even attend such an important banquet, making her worry for him.

She suddenly remembered Lucian’s words before he left, ‘David, I have some urgent matters to attend to tomorrow Find someone reliable to take Penelope to the hospital for a checkup. See how her baby is doing”

“Alright.”

David watched Cora’s retreating figure. The air seemed to be filled with a faint, intoxicating fragrance.

After Cora left, he turned to the person next to him, “How’s Kamilla?”

“She’s still out cold”
