The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 3

Anya looked up to find Daniel standing there and suddenly understood what Selene was doing. “I didn’t…” she started to say. “I am sorry, Mr. Shaw, it seems madam did not like the food,” Selene said. “What is wrong with you?” Daniel said, his voice very cold. Anya looked at Selene in horror. Can someone actually be so two faced? Anya saw the wronged look on Selene’s face and felt the urge to slap her. But she knew that it would only make things worse. “Go get changed Selene,” Daniel ordered and Selene nodded and left the room with her head down. “It can’t be that you actually believe that I threw my food at her, right?” Anya asked. “You should reign in your temper,” Daniel said. Anya could tell he was really angry. This annoyed her. Was he angry on another woman’s behalf? “I didn’t touch her. I didn’t throw anything…”Anya explained. “Are you saying that she threw it on herself?” Daniel asked. “Yes!” Anya insisted. “It seems Aunt was right. You also have a tendency to lie that is just as bad as your temper. Whatever it is you want to do, stay away from Selene,” Daniel said. He looked at her as though he would kill her if she stepped out of line “Your aunt said so?” she asked. “Are you also going to say she is lying?” he asked. Anya immediately went silent. It seemed there was no use explaining herself. Besides, from how angry he was on Selene’s behalf, it seems what Selene said about her marriage may have an inside story. For some reason, Anya did not want to know what it was. She was going to divorce him anyway. It was not necessary for her to know. Seeing her stop talking and look away, Daniel sneered. “Have nothing else to say?” he asked. “When will we be finalizing our divorce?” Anya asked and his face darkened. It seems she was still throwing a tantrum. “You forced your way into this marriage, now you want to get out? I will decide when we get a divorce,” Daniel said. Anya looked at him for a while, then nodded. When she realized that he had someone in his heart, Selene, she became sure it was only a matter of time. She had been living as an unmarried person all this while anyway. She needed to move on with her life. She looked down on her injured arm and rang for a nurse, ignoring Daniel. A nurse came in some moment after. “Mrs. Shaw, is there any problem?” the nurse asked. “When can I be discharged?” she asked the nurse. “It is best if you stay for a few days. The doctor recommends this,” the nurse

said. “It’s fine. I will get discharged now. I have somewhere to be,” Anya said and started getting up. “Where are you thinking of going instead of staying in the hospital?” “Home. I assume you also have things to do. So do I,” Anya started taking out the needle on her arm despite the Nurse’s protest. It was just a gunshot wound. It was not the first time she had been shot. She got up and started looking for her clothes. Annoyed by her defiance, Daniel turned around to leave. “Fine. Do as you like,” he said and walked out of the room. Anya consoled herself when she saw him leave without care. She dressed and left the hospital. Standing by the side of the road, she waited for a taxi. When Daniel saw her standing there, he asked the driver to drive over. The car stopped in front of Anya. Anya looked at the car that just stopped and was about to step away when she heard Daniel’s voice. “Get in, I will drop you off,” he said. Anya saw that he sat in the back with Selene. The only space left was in front of the driver. “It’s fine,” she rejected. Looking at those in the car, she felt ashamed, as though she was the outsider. “Get in!” Daniel practically scolded her. Selene was bothered by his temper. The Daniel she knew was very calm. His temper never flared this way. She saw this as Anya being special and her eyes went cold. Anya swallowed her protest and got in the car. She opened the front door and sat. When the door closed, Daniel finally realized their sitting position was odd. His wife was seated in front where his security or secretary would sit, while Selene, his assistant, sat beside him in the back. The moment the door closed, before the car could pull away, a nurse came running out. She knocked on the back seat window and it rolled down. “Mrs. Shaw, the pharmacy left this for you. You forgot it when checking out,” the nurse said and the car froze. It was clear the nurse was talking to Selene seated at the back with Daniel. Anya suppressed the shame she felt at this moment as the nurse just handed it over and rushed away. Anya turned to the back and stretched her hand out for the medicine and Selene passed it to her before she sat comfortably and wore her seat belt without saying a word. “Could you drop me at the bus station?” she asked the driver. The driver looked at Daniel through the rear view mirror to find that he was staring at Anya. When he got no response from his boss, he nodded to Anya. “Yes, ma’am,” he answered and drove off. The car was quiet. Daniel was severely uncomfortable. Seeing Anya saying nothing made the entire situation uncomfortable for him. He was not sure why, but he could not relax. Anya put on her ear

piece and kept her eyes on the road. There was nothing she could honestly say. She had been embarrassed enough. Saying anything would only embarrass her more. She was obviously the legally married wife, but she had no right to get angry or demand anything of her husband. She felt like a joke. When the car approached the bus stop, Anya told the driver to stop. Daniel seemed to realize she was getting off and frowned. “There is no need, I am on my way back home. Just stay in the car,” Daniel said. “I am fine here,” Anya said, getting out of the car and heading for the bus stop. Luckily, the bus arrived just as she got there and she got on. Only when she sat down did she release a breath. Today has been the most embarrassing day of her life. Since she had married Daniel , she had been shamed by his family, while his mother and father ignored it. Still, she did not feel as embarrassed as she did today. The way Daniel treated her was out there for the world to see. She felt as though she had been publicly shamed. Daniel was not sure why she insisted on leaving on her own when they were going to the same place. “The penthouse or the mansion, sir?” The driver asked Daniel where to take him. “The mansion, then you drop Selena off,” Daniel instructed and returned to work on his tablet. He noted as they were driving that the bus Anya had taken had diverted in a different direction than their home. The road the bus entered was one way to another side of the city. He frowned. Did Anya not check the bus’s route before entering? He held back from calling her. He decided to let her learn the hard way. He did not understand her stubborn character. What was she trying to prove? Was she angry because the Nurse mistook someone else for her? He could not wrap his head around what she was thinking. Forget it. Since she was stubborn, it was best to let her suffer a bit.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
