Chapter 15 The Truth
Chapter 15 The Truth
Soccorah got home and told her parents that she had to go over to her friend’s house but to her
surprise the told her that they needed to talk to her and denied her permission to go. She sat down and
asked what it was about and saw her coach seated in the dining room. “What is Coach doing here? Am
I in some kind of trouble?” she joked.
“Luna there is something that we need to talk about. This discussion is long overdue but we just didn’t
see the need to bring it up till he showed up again” her mother said. 17 years ago, I met your dad. He
had no wife and was living here all alone with his baby daughter…. He was so lost and hurt that he
could barely manage to take care of you himself. I started helping him with babysitting and one thing
led to another we fell in love. “She explained. “What? Are you saying what I think You’re saying?” Luna
shouted with tears in her eyes. “Please just let me finish.”
“Your father and I had our ups and downs but we just wanted to keep you safe. Before he died, he
gave me instructions to keep you safe. He left a trust in your name and asked that we keep you safe
and that is what we have been doing all your life. We tried to keep you safe but I have no idea from
what?”
Luna bursting with anger and trying really hard not to lose it blurted out; “Are you trying to tell me that
you are not my mother? Who is my mother then, where is she? What happened to her? Why did she
leave my father and me? And why did you wait this long before telling me.” A thousand thoughts went
through her head. Why didn’t her fake of a mother never tell her that she was adopted. Why did she
wait until Coach had to force them to telling her the truth? What the hell was going on? She deserved
answers and she had the right to getting them.
“I spent so many years wondering why I looked nothing like you. My dad was gone. It was your job to
tell me the truth. What of my family. You knew about my medical condition; you knew that I needed
answers; if you care about me, they way that a parent, should you should have told me the truth. You
never loved me.” “What of this trust anyway. I barely have anything. You always dress up to the nines, I
have had to settle for everything mediocre. How much is in this trust anyway. I’m 17-years-old. Don’t
you think that I should have been privy to that information?” she shouted unable to keep her anger
inside.”
“What; did he have to threaten you to tell me the truth? What role does he play in this anyway…..Tell
damn it!” When Luna shouted the house shook. Lucian noticing what was happening came up to her
and spoke calmly asking her to settle down. His voice managed to subdue her anger. “He is your uncle.
Your father’s brother.” He was to be your guardian in the event of his death but I couldn’t let him find
you because I had raised you. I couldn’t let him take you away so when he came for you, I told him that
your father didn’t have a child and I hid you until I was sure that he believed me and left.” Her mother Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
said.
“You kept my family from me? Who does that? Do you even realize how screwed up and selfish this is?
You took me to a shrink and made it seem like I was sick when he may have been able to help with my
family history. How could you do this to me? You’re dead to me.” She said to her mom and walked
away. Michael called out to her “Luna, sit down. don’t walk out on your mother. I know that you’re upset
but she raised you. She deserves better.”
Luna looked at Michael and said; “The two of you deserve each other. I have spent my life living in the
shadows but no more. I have abided by all of your ridiculous rules that never seemed to be enough for
you. She always took your side. She always tried to please you and have me do the same. Well, that’s
over.”
As Luna walked out toward the porch Lucian followed her and aske for a moment. She sat down next
to him on the porch and rested her head on his chest and let her pain and sorrow out. The tears flowed
like a river as she couldn’t believe what had just happened. Lucian stroked her hair and rubbed her
back to comfort her. “I’m sorry that you had to go through this but it was the only way. You needed to
know the truth.”
She cried her eyes out then when she settled, she looked up at him. “How do I know that you are my
family anyway. Who is to say that you are not after this trust that I know nothing about?” Lucian pulled
down his turtleneck to reveal a crescent moon shaped birthmark on his neck. “Your father had one just
like it on his arm and You have one on your butt. I saw you as a baby. I loved you so much. I have
never stopped searching for you. I knew deep down that you survived. You look so much like your
mother.”
Luna looked at him still shocked by this whole revelation and told him that she had a prior engagement
and was running late. “This is a lot to take in so I’m spending the night at a friend’s house. Don’t really
want to be here right now.” “Understood. But here’s my number. Please don’t hesitate to call if you
need anything. I’m always available to answer any questions that you have including what happens to
you during the full moon.” He said as he left the house.
Luna ran upstairs, grabbed an overnight bag and left for Soccorah’s house, grateful that she had been
extended this invitation. It couldn’t have come at a better time. Soccorah would definitely serve as a
distraction from this sham of a life that she’d been living. As she walked over to the house, she started
to get a hint of the scent that had her going crazy on her first day of school. This time it calmed her.
She took it in and followed it surprised that it led her to Soccorah’s house.
