Chapter 2472 Military and Economic Strategy
Chapter 2472 Military and Economic Strategy
The Kandrian Empire mobilized everything it could in the day that it had before the Beast Incursion reached it. Strategists of the Royal Army, the border patrol force, and the Martial Union got together and chalked out elaborate defensive strategies.
None of the existing standard strategies were designed to handle a seemingly endless wave of monsters and beasts. Thus, the military strategists chalked out a whole new plan for the Kandrian Empire to deal with the incoming beast tide.
The plan was simple. They would adopt the common positional strategy that most human polities naturally ended up adopting—a spectrum of distribution of Martial Artists along the battlefield where Martial Sages would be the furthest away from the Kandrian border, and would be positioned westward from the Kandrian Empire to intercept the beast tide most directly. Their sole goal was to intercept Sage-level beasts and the upper end of quasi-Sage-level beasts. They could not, under any circumstances, allow the beasts to get close to the Kandrian Empire to the point where they could easily harm the nation with minimal exertion.
Beasts weaker than that would naturally move away with either the awareness that they were too weak to impact the battle or whatever was left of their self-preservation instincts. The weaker quasi-Sage-level beasts and the Master-level beasts would then be intercepted by the Martial Masters who would be waiting for them to pass by the Martial Sages who were focused on the Sage-level beasts.
Each Realm of Martial Artists would intercept all the beasts and monsters in their league of power while letting the weaker ones pass on to the next Realm all the way down to Martial Apprentices and even human infantry.
The Kandrian Empire had the time to make preparations to have human infantry clean up all the smaller and weaker animals that were too weak to draw the attention of the Martial Apprentices but were still strong enough to kill normal human beings.
They would be stationed at the northern and southern borders of the Kandrian Empire at the coasts where all the weak animals avoiding the strong Martial Artists would eventually end up.
"On top of that…" A strategist of the Kandrian Royal Army marked a radial zone a little ahead of all the marked battlefields on the map of the Kandrian Empire. "This is where we have designated the heavy artillery firing range of our siege weapons."
The goal was to weaken and eradicate as many beasts and monsters as possible anywhere near the Martial Artists.
"Additionally, we have decided to implement a rotation of three batches of Martial Artists to ensure that we don't unnecessarily tire out and exhaust Martial Artists of the Upper Realms who cannot recover nearly as quickly as Apprentices, Squires, and Seniors," a strategist of the Martial Union added. "Given the intelligence of the Elder Tree that the Beast Incursion is not an acute threat but a chronic one, we have decided to take this measure in order to ensure long-term viability of our defenses."
"On top of that, we have set aside a number of Martial Artists for the protection of our allies," an official from the Kandrian government stated. "If defending the Kandrian Empire without them proves to be untenable, then we will reintegrate them into the ranks of the three batches. Else, we can freely send them to our allies. That brings us to an end to our strategic propositions."
The Emperor of Harmony studied the strategy that theyhe had had prepared, before nodding. "This is a sensible and flexible plan that is well-suited to handling our needs."
He had delegated the issue to trusted experts and specialists who could do as good a job in that particular field as he could. With only half a day left, he could not single-handedly do everything that needed to be done, after all.
"What about analysis on our supply chain disruptions for essential goods and services?" Emperor Rael asked with a stern tone. "I believe that I requested for that right as soon as we received word on the attack from the Beast Incursion."
The Minister of Domestic Affairs winced. "The Beast Incursion has disrupted all international trade and commerce. We are unable to source all the esoteric supplies needed for healing potions and rejuvenation potions. We will need to burn into our stock and potentially even our emergency reserve."
"If this isn't an emergency, then I don't know what is," Emperor Rael calmly replied. "We are most vulnerable in the initial stages of this new apocalypse when we have yet to adapt to the new conditions. Until we figure out how to become stable and balanced as a nation again, we will treat this as an emergency that must be overcome, no matter what. Thankfully, as preparation for the war four years ago, I decried that we must have financial and economic independence. While other nations will soon experience plummeting inventories due to supply chain disruptions, we will be able to continue functioning with fewer inconveniences."
He turned to the Minister of Domestic Affairs. "Coordinate with the Minister of Maritime Affairs and find a supply chain through the seas that have not gone berserk. There will be some nation or the other that is in desperate need of something we have that possesses the supplies that we require for the potions. We cannot fall short of potions, no matter what."
If the Kandrian Empire was to somehow deal with what was shaping up to be a continuous sustained attack that was there to stay, then potions that could rejuvenate and heal were fundamentally necessary for long-term prospects.
Martial Artists would take far too long to recover if not for that.
Emperor Rael fell into thought. "In fact, coordinate with Guildmaster Bradt on this particular matter. I suspect that the seas will become extraordinarily important in an era where the lands are dangerous and inhospitable to trade and commerce. Coordinate with my daughter Ranea on this matter as well. She may very well end up realizing her dream of achieving an age of sailors."
