CHAPTER 169
Chapter 169
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 39
Harriette’s POV
“Thorne,” I called out in shock. I wasn’t expecting to see that ruthless bastard anytime soon. He left me crazy and dead angry the last time we met and now he was back like never before.
“You can see me,” I added.
“I’m not blind, sweetheart. Missed me?” He asked again with a grin on his face.
I frowned. “Nope,” I snapped while glaring at him.
“Aww, someone’s mad at me,”
I looked around to make sure nobody else was there.
“You almost killed me the last time,”
“You started it. If you hadn’t mentioned his name, we wouldn’t have almost died. Moreover, the accident wasn’t my fault. It was his,” he pointed at his face. “You called him out and as usual, he couldn’t handle the shock. Get mad at him for trying to kill you, not me,” he explained.
I glared at him before my lips arched in disgust. “Trying to shift the blame now, aren’t we?”
“Getting too smart mouth with me now, aren’t you?” He asked. I suddenly remembered how he acted the last time. He was different from Rowan. He was crazier and more daring.
He moved closer to me and I moved back. The fact that he could see me in this state was alarming enough. I couldn’t afford him touching me because of what happened the last time Rowan touched me.
I wouldn’t want him waking up with the same mark as me again.
“Why are you back?” I asked, trying to change the conversation so he could stop looking at me as though I was his prey. I knew the last time I promised I would break his bones the next time I saw him. Now, I couldn’t fulfill that promise.
“This coward couldn’t handle another shock. Guess what? It’s not new,”
He answered.
He rested his back against the wall and stared down at him.
“What shock?” I asked him, suddenly curious.
“I’m not telling you although it has to do with you,”
I rolled my eyes but stopped when I heard him mention me. I pointed to myself.
“Me? Why? What did I do?”
He shrugged. “You’re not hearing it from me,”
I raised an eyebrow. “Fine!” I answered.
“This thing, what is it called?” He pointed at me.
–“Dreamwalking and you’re not supposed to see me,”
“Yeah, right,” he scoffed and continued scrutinizing me.
“I’m not sure this is how Dreamwalking is supposed to work. You’re in the present,” he said.
I frowned deeply. “Present? Am I not supposed to be in the present?” I asked.
He tutted in disappointment. “You’re as broken as he is, aren’t you?”
Chapter 169
“What are you talking about?”
“You and Rowan are truly the perfect fit. Two broken dolls waiting for Mommy to fix them,” he said in annoyance. “The moon goddess must be a crazy bitch for thinking you were right for us,”
My tongue suddenly became tied. I didn’t even know what to say. I couldn’t make sense of anything he said so asking questions was impossible for me.
He suddenly turned and started walking away.
“What did you mean by I was doing this dreamwalking thing wrongly?” I asked him.
“Ask Rowan by morning. He’s the smart one,” he yelled.
His steps got faster and I managed to keep up with him.
“Stop following me,”
“Fine! I’ll stop following you if you tell me why Rowan is as broken as I am,” I yelled at him.
He stopped walking and turned to me. “That’s his story to tell not mine,”
“Well, I want to know,” I folded my hand against my chest and yelled at him.
“Consider yourself lucky that you’re in your dreamwalking state. I would’ve loved to try and strangle the life out of you for yelling at me,”
He gave me his evil smirk and I felt goosebumps on my skin.
I moved back away from him.
“Good girl!” He whispered. “We had a discussion last time, didn’t we? I’m still waiting for you to do what you promised,” Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
I shook my head. “I didn’t promise anything,” I answered.
“I guess you have temporary memory loss because I can clearly remember you promising to kill him. Don’t disappoint me, sweetheart.”
My feet were rooted to the floor as I watched him leave.
The following morning, I woke up and went in search of Alpha Rowan. I wanted to make sure he was back to being Rowan and
not Thorne.
Why do you even care? You’re not supposed to care about this guy. You’re supposed to be planning on killing him.
My subconscious reminded me.
I pushed the thoughts to the back of my mind.
When I saw Alpha Rowan, he was training with both Mika and Gideon. The first thing I noticed was how his eyes were back to normal. I took a deep breath of relief. He was back to normal.
I waited for them to be done before I approached him.
I walked up to him with a smile as I followed him when he entered his private locker room.
He removed his shirt and I swallowed hard. I hid my fingers behind my back as I twirled them around nervously. My face became hot when I remembered what happened the last time I saw him naked.
He was about to remove his pants when he suddenly looked at me.
“What do you want?”
He asked harshly.
I had a dazed look on my face and I unconsciously let out a low gasp. “I wanted to see how you were doing.”
He frowned, “Why?” He spat.

I swallowed hard. “I spoke to Thorne last night,”
The frown on his face deepened. “What did I tell you about Thorne? I warned you, didn’t I? You’re supposed…” he suddenly stopped.
He smirked. “Yeah, right. I forgot. Thorne should be scared of you instead,”
He removed his trousers and I felt
my hand trembling behind my back.
Was I excited? Or was I scared?
“Uhm? Thorne told me to ask you more about Dreamwalking,”
I said.
“I know nothing about it. Ask somebody else,” he dismissed me harshly.
I sucked in a deep breath as I felt my heart tightening.
“Did something bad happen?” I asked him.
“Get out of here, Harriette,”
“I’m a bit worried about you. Thorne said something yesterday night and …”
He turned to me, making me swallow the rest of my words. His eyes were bloodshot with anger.
“Why should you be worried about me? Tell me one reason why you should be concerned, Harriette, just one,” he asked angrily.
“Because… because…” I stopped when I found no right words to tell him.
Why was I worried about him? I should be doing the complete opposite of this but instead, I keep finding myself pulled to him by some invisible force.
Over and Over again!
“Don’t tempt me, Harriette. I beg you. I’m this close, so close to rejecting you and I promise you that it would be the most traumatic experience of your life,”
