Chapter 577 Hidden Agendas Revealed
Jessica thought, "So, his earlier nonchalance was just an act? He had already booked the flight to Mamaica."
Quinn's expression was now one of melancholy and complexity. Although Chloe had disappeared from view at the security checkpoint, he remained standing with a furrowed brow, lost in thought. Jessica called out to him several times before he snapped back to his senses. "Let's go."
Quinn spoke coldly, and returned back into his aloof demeanor.
Chloe and James boarded the plane, with Candy and Wesley seated nearby.
Candy wasted no time switching seats with another passenger next to Chloe, leaving Wesley by himself.
Once settled, Candy launched into her chatter.
"You would not believe how twisted Richard is. He said he wanted to marry me, but when Wesley disagreed, Richard probably thought he was getting on in years and wanted a late romance. Guess what happened?" Chloe found Jenkins' family affairs too bizarre to follow.
"Turns out, during a morning run, Richard set his sights on a younger Aikopnishian woman living in Mamaica. He chased after her right away!"
Candy frowned and shook her head as she spoke, "I do not get what that woman sees in Richard."
At just the right moment, James chimed in, "Money!"
Candy was momentarily stumped. "They only ran together once. How could she tell Richard is rich? Besides, she is not even from here." James sneered, finding her naive.
"Does she not know how to use the internet? And seriously, who runs every morning if they are not wealthy? Work is already exhausting."
Candy had no way of refutation; indeed, most people who were short on money did not make running a daily routine, even if they were retired. "So, are you going with Wesley this time to make Richard come to his senses?"
Candy shrugged. "What is it to me? Richard is Wesley's father. Whatever he does is his own business."NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.
Chloe nodded and let her thoughts drift back to Smith.
By now, the plane had taken off, and her phone was in airplane mode. She could only hope for good news from Michael when she landed. She glanced at James, who was resting with his eyes closed, and hesitated to speak.
"If you are about to say you are in love with me, then do not bother."
Chloe instantly looked as if she had eaten shit and turned her face away.
"Chloe, what about William's brother? Are we just going to ignore him?"
Candy felt uneasy about leaving the extremist brother unaddressed. It did not seem right to let him roam freely in society.
"Quinn and Jessica will continue to follow up," Chloe assured.
Even though she was not in the country, she was determined to find out who was behind the attack on her, especially since William's half-brother looked almost exactly like him. Halfway through the flight, Chloe felt exhausted from lack of sleep and quickly dozed off.
Candy, who always fell asleep on any mode of transport, was already napping against the window.
James was wearing headphones and found it amusing to see Chloe's head bobbing.
He took off his neck pillow and adjusted it around Chloe's neck, then asked a flight attendant for a thin blanket to cover her legs.
Glancing at Candy, who was dressed in a skirt, James shrugged and thought, "Her partner is up front. Not my problem."
