Chapter 47: Hitting the Club
Michael stood in the elevator and hit the open button for her.
"What's up?" he asked.
Lucy took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small black velvet box.
"I've thought it over for a few days and decided to give this back to you."
Michael glanced down and saw the ring resting quietly in the box.
"I was worried Chloe might regret selling the ring, so I bought it first," Lucy explained, her eyes filled with tender concern. Lucy's eyes were soft, full of care for him.
"I think Chloe might've misunderstood me. Take the ring back and smooth things over with her. It should be fine."
When Michael saw the wedding ring Chloe had sold, his long-suppressed anger nearly exploded.
He scoffed, "You paid for it, so keep it."
Lucy froze, feeling a bit lost. "But that's your wedding ring with Chloe. I'm worried she might not be happy about it."

Michael didn't take the ring, his expression growing darker.
He thought, "Chloe sold the ring herself. If she's upset, it's her own fault."
The elevator dinged open on the right floor, and Michael stepped out, his expression cold and distant.
Lucy watched Michael leave, a smug grin spreading across her face. She slipped the ring into her pocket.
Chloe thought to herself, "This time, there's no way out."
Chloe spent the whole afternoon lounging at home. It wasn't until after dinner that she finally changed and came out of her
room.
Candy, still in her pajamas, stared in shock at Chloe, who was dolled up in a tight skirt and heavy makeup.
"Where are you headed?"
Chloe grabbed her bag and headed to the door, swapping her shoes. "Need to blow off some steam."
She slipped on her shoes and glanced at Candy. "Wanna come along?"
"Go on! Just give me a sec to change, I'll be right there!"
Candy thought it wasn't safe for Chloe to go out alone in her

They walked into a bar.
The blaring music and dazzling lights made Chloe forget her

A few drinks in, she turned her hazy gaze towards Candy.
"What now? That didn't quite hit the spot."
Candy hesitated for a moment. She wanted to say she was already losing her mind.
Chloe rarely hit the bar scene, but tonight she was ready to go wild. She called over the bartender.
The staff, seeing how much fun the two were having, leaned in with a mysterious grin.
"We've got a deal-unlimited drinks and go-go dancers to spice up your night. Interested?" Candy worried that Chloe couldn't handle the shock and was about to say no.
Chloe had made up her mind. "I'll take the priciest package."
The staff's faces lit up with joy.

He didn't give Chloe a chance to back out. In no time, he had a dozen young, handsome go-go dancers in the room.
They oozed charm, waiting for Chloe to make her pick.
Chloe's eyes sparkled with excitement as she patted the spot
next to her.
"Alright, everyone, take a seat!"
