Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

KNIGHT

She still despised me. I could feel it, but she did save us all alphas, and now everyone was indebted to her, and we just acquired allies because of her bravery.

I wanted to hug her, kiss her, and make love with her for the job well done, but that could wait. I broke her trust and didn’t know how to regain it.

I just missed her. My wolf missed her. My wolf became restless without physical contact, so I sneaked into her room after dinner. I slept beside her, only to be woken up by a moan. She must be dreaming- a wild dream.

“Nirvana?” I slightly nudged her, and she jolted to wake up, her chest heaving.

Seemingly disoriented, she turned to me, horrified for a second. “Why are you in my bed?”

“I was too tired to go home, so I decided to sneak in,” I told her the half-truth.

“Really? You couldn’t ask anyone to drive you home?”

“No, sweetheart. Unlike you, you can jump into places in seconds.” I lied back, hoping she let it go.

“Unbelievable.”

“Believe it or not. We worked all day, and my wolf needs you.”

She snorted. “If he needs me, his buddy shouldn’t have been so stupid.”

“We’re not buddies. He’s part of me.”

“I know that, asshole, but you can’t sleep here.”

“I’ll be gone in a few. Just let me catch some sleep.”

“No, Knight. You find an empty room, or I will find a hotel.” She turned her back on me angrily.

“Okay. I’m leaving.” Sighing in disappointment, I got up from bed and grabbed my shirt and jeans on the chair. “Were you dreaming or something?”

Her heart pounded hard at my question, making me smile. I didn’t have to ask because I could smell her arousal. I bet she was wet, and she probably just dreamed about us having sex.

“Why the fuck do you care? I dreamed of blow-jobbing a man while touching myself, and I enjoyed it a lot.”

“Don’t fucking say something like that again,” I growled, mostly coming from my wolf. Jealousy in werewolves was expected, making us overly possessive and feral. It was in our nature we couldn’t control or change that fact.

“Or what?” Her head snapped at me, and the anger in her gaze began to consume her. “What are you going to do this time? Lock me in the vault?”

Narrowing my eyes at her, I let the anger ball roll inside my stomach. “Don’t test me. I haven’t punished you for what you’ve done. Hitting and disrespecting an alpha is an offense and a serious crime in the werewolf law.”

“Bite me.” She went back to her side.

I breathed deeply. “You have two days to change your attitude.”

“And after that?”

“I will give you what you want.” I put my clothes on and bolted out of her room.

It was only two in the morning, but I walked to the small cabin, stripped off my clothes, and went for a run.

As I shifted, my heart was beating furiously like mad, my mind was in a chaotic whirlwind, and my skin was on fire. I let my wolf take control of me, running wherever it took me.

I gave up.

My breathing ragged.

My heart throbbed.

And this agony I felt was all because of my stupidity of saving the only woman I ever loved. I just couldn’t accept it. I wouldn’t. There was no fucking way I would let her die. Closing my eyes, I howled in pain and so much loss.

I shifted back and spent the night on the cliff, under the moonlight, where I fell. I had been questioning my decisions lately.

Maybe my uncle was right. I wasn’t fit to be an alpha anymore. I was reckless and impulsive.

“That’s a stupid idea.” My heart stopped dead in my chest to her voice behind me.

Startling, I groaned. “Don’t sneak up like that.”

“If you jump, I can’t save you anymore.” She joined me on the cliff, and the dark forest was covered with fog. It was beautiful and mysterious at the same time.

“How did you find me?”

“I’m sure you woke up everyone with that alpha howl.”

I looked at her. “I wasn’t trying to jump and commit suicide.”

“I know. You’re a jackass but not suicidal, but you shouldn’t be here alone.”

“So you followed me here?”

She shook her head. “Sometimes, some people revisit the last place that gave them so much pain. I thought you came here.”

“Bullshit.”

She chuckled and looked at me. It was the first time I had seen her eyes glittering with humor since our falling out.

“I felt your emotional turmoil and saw you run, so I followed you here.”

“It’s beautiful out here.”

“And dangerous.” She let go a sigh before she spoke again. “I can set aside my anger because we have important matters to do. I’m willing to work with you, but you must let me do what’s necessary. I can’t do my job with a hand tied behind my back.”

Letting the pain settle in my chest, I nodded. “I can do that, but if there’s a way to stop you from ending up killing yourself, I will do it.”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

“I know. I don’t wanna die either, Knight.”

“It’s good because no matter how you hate me and whatever life awaits us after this, I will still choose you to be happy even if I won’t be a part of your life anymore.”

She swallowed hard and blocked me in her thoughts. She didn’t have to. I felt her struggle. I knew she still cared about me even if she somehow hated me because she knew why I did what I did, and I would still do it over again if, by means, saving my mate.

We ended up making breakfast in the kitchen. She took care of the waffles while I made some scrambled eggs.

“You missed your dinner.”

“You’re keeping tabs on me now?”

“Always.”

She lifted her gaze from the waffle maker. “I’m fine. One missed meal won’t hurt me.”

“It must be fun to be you.” I put some bacon strips into the skillet.

“What do you mean?”

“You don’t need time to wait to call Uber.” That cracked her up.

“It’s scary, Knight. I can’t control my exact position, and I’m still scared to do it when it’s not necessary. And I feel energy draining me, and I’m a cheater.”

“People would die to have your gift, sweetheart.” I grabbed two plates, and she was done with the waffles when I noticed she suddenly went silent. “Did I say something wrong?”

“It’s a gift and a curse at the same time. I still wanna be a normal person and live a normal life.”

“I know. This life isn’t ideal for you, and with what’s going on, I wish I hadn’t come to you and showed you my world.”

“It’s here now. It’s happening.” She poured coffee into two cups and took a seat beside me. “I didn’t regret meeting you.”

I froze for a moment. The cup in my hand was an inch to my lips as I stared at her, both shocked and relieved.

“It’s the highlights of my life. Maybe after all this chaos, I’ll have a normal life again.”

“I want that for you, too.”

She nodded as she sliced her waffle. “When you said earlier you would give me what I want, may I know what that is?”

It pained me to say it out loud, but she deserved the truth. “A normal life, away from me.”
