At Amy’s words, Mikayla intended to rebuke that the matter was not any of her concern. However, she recalled that Jerome had indeed come to her aid.
Mikayla knew the importance of gratitude. So she pivoted and headed into her
room.
Amy figured that Mikayla was making the bed for Jerome to ensure his
comfort.
Amy awaited with a sense of contentment.
Soon, Mikayla emerged with a blanket in her hand.
“Here.
Amy looked at Mikayla, puzzled.
“Madam, aren’t you going to help Mr. Miller up here to rest? It’s easy to catch a
cold sleeping on the couch in such weather.”
“He’s not a child. Why would he get sick so easily?” © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“Besides, didn’t I find a blanket for him? to cover him.”
She had shown her gratitude.
Amy hesitated as she took the thin blanket.
“Madam, isn’t this the one usually placed on the chaise lounge for your feet?”
At home, Mikayla often roamed barefoot and would step on or play around the chaise lounge chair. To avoid soiling it, she used a blanket as a protector.
“Don’t worry. It’s clean,” Mikayla added.
“I don’t have any other spare blankets here.”
Amy glanced at the array of blankets on Mikayla’s bed and chair. She intended to speak up, but hesitated.
“But those are all my favorites. How could I let Jerome use them?” Mikayla interjected.
“But-”
“No more ‘buts,” Mikayla urged.
“It’s the best one for him, Mrs. Amy. Just let him use that.”
Amy was rendered speechless.
Noon had arrived.
At Miller Group’s CEO’s office, Mike had returned after accompanying Jerome to a meeting at Bernhal Enterprise. He noticed the fatigue on Jerome’s face.
Concerned, he said, “Mr. Miller, if you’re not feeling well, take a break. Let me know if you need anything.”
Jerome entered his office without saying much, only to find Connor lying on his couch and engrossed in his phone.
Connor caught sight of Jerome and dramatically dashed toward him.
“Jay! I finally get to see you. I’ve been waiting for you since yesterday until now. You’re busier than a prescient, huh?”
As Connor got up from the couch, a gray blanket fell off onto the ground.
Jerome’s expression slightly darkened.
“Who said you could use that?”
Connor glanced back.
“Your office is freezing. I found a blanket in your cabinet, so I used it to cover

Jerome called for Mike who was outside the door, “Get two security guards up
here and throw this guy out.”
“Ah, come on, Jay!”
Connor stood in front of Jerome and gestured to Mike.
“It’s me. It’s me!”
As Connor shut the office door, he asked in a pitiful and puzzled manner,” Dude, did I do something wrong? What’s with the face? I called you the night before, but I couldn’t reach you. Now that I finally see you, you’re kicking me out?”
Jerome cast a cold glance at Connor. He felt weary as he settled down on the
couch.
As Connor followed suit and prepared to sit down, Jerome stated icily, “Pick it
up.”
“Huh?” Connor asked before realizing that Jerome was referring to the thin blanket on the ground.
Although he was puzzled, he complied and tossed it back on the couch.
“Return it to where you got it from, and put it back to how it was originally,”
Jerome demanded again.
His tone was chilly.
Connor felt reluctant and discontented.
He grumbled, “Seriously? It’s just a blanket. It’s not even new. I could get you a
car if you wanted…”
Jerome leaned back on the couch. He then rubbed his throbbing temples, ignoring Connor’s complaints.
After placing the blanket back, Connor casually requested the secretary to change the tea.
He questioned Jérome again, “What’s with you so worn out, Jay? Didn’t you rest well last night?”
Jerome didn’t bother to answer Connor.
“You’re not messing around with women, are you?”
Connor widened his eyes as he recalled the message from the day before. “Jay, are you really cheating?”
