Chapter 115
115 The Consequences of Betrayal
In the Smirnoffs‘ family living room, tension crackled in the air. Gable, the usually composed medical
practitioner, paced restlessly, a scalpel twirling in his fingers. The family watched in stunned silence,
aware that this was no ordinary display of frustration. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
“What on earth are you planning with that, Gab?” Emma, his sister, questioned cautiously, eyeing the
scalpel warily. Her voice was tinged with concern and confusion.
Gable stopped, his gaze intense. “What if I just undid everything? Alex’s legs, Lillian’s arm… I fixed
them once, I can unfix them.”
The room fell into a deeper silence. Emma sighed heavily, “Gab, I’ve cut ties with them. Your actions…
they won’t change the past.‘
Gable’s face hardened. “They wronged you, Emma. I can’t just stand by. If not for you, I would have
never saved them in the first place.”
Emma, torn between her desire for peace and Gable’s anger, tried to reason with him. “Revenge isn’t
the answer. This won’t bring any peace.”
But Gable was resolute, anger burning in his eyes. “They need to face consequences for their actions.
They took advantage of your kindness, Emma. I won’t let them get away with it.”
As Gable stormed out, Wayne, the family patriarch, tried to intervene, his grip firm on Gable’s arm. This
isn’t you, Gable. Think of the consequences.”
Gable shook off his hand. “I’ve thought about it, and I’ve decided. They must pay for what they’ve
done to Emma.”
In the heat of the moment, Alex’s call came through. Gable’s voice was icy as he answered, “Save your
gratitude, Alex. If you truly want to thank me, return what I’ve given. I regret ever helping you.”
Alex, on the other end, struggled to process Gable’s words. “Gable, surely there’s been some
misunderstanding…”
“There’s no misunderstanding,” Gable snapped. “You and Emma are done. And since you mistreated
her, don’t expect any mercy from me. You have a day to give me an answer.”
Hanging up, Gable left the house, his family’s pleas fading behind him.
Wayne sighed, turning to Emma. “We can’t support this, but we can’t stop him either. He’s too far
gone.”
Emma, her face a mixture of sadness and resignation, nodded. “I know. Gable’s always been
protective. But this… this is too much.”
The Smirnoff family could only hope that Gable’s rage wouldn’t lead to irreparable damage. But deep
down, they knew their hope was thin. Gable, once a healer, had turned into an avenger, and there was
no telling how far he would go to right the wrongs done to his sister.
