Chapter 30
The incident earlier in the day at the jewelry shop had awakened Sophia's competitive nature. "Yes, dress me up very well, mother. I'm the swan. The most beautiful and elegant of all. It's impossible that I will ever be beaten by that ugly duckling. Alexander must have been somehow oblivious to my beauty. That must be the reason why Roseline got the attention today. Yes. That's why! I knew it." Sophia remarked, dazed in her own thoughts.
Unlike Sophia who was being delusional, Beatrice was thinking practically. "That is a good thought, my child. But we, the Grays......" Beatrice tried to voice out her concern and thought regarding what her daughter had said.
However, Sophia was not ready to listen to any reasons or excuses. She was a spoiled one, and she had to get what she wanted, as always. "I don't care. I know I'm the only one that deserves Alexander. Mom, please, I have to marry him. If Roseline can get close to him then I must as well. Besides, it will be great for Gray when I'm Mrs. King! We can't avoid letting Roseline get close to Alexander king and claim that title."
Indeed. It would be tremendous for the Gray family, but one had to be realistic. Alexander king isn't an easy person the Gray family can afford to mess with. And I was surprising her how Rose was able to know Alex.
Already understanding that her daughter would never take no for an answer, Beatrice had no choice but to promise that she would try her best, besides Sophia had a point, she can't let Rose have the title so she better work hard for her daughter to seal that position. Sophia took it as a definite yes and was so pleased that she showered her mother with thankful kisses.
Then she suddenly remembered something and frowned, "Mom, are you sure Rose should go to the party? Even though I hate to say this, she looked so beautiful today and I'm sure that was how she stole Alexander stole it from me today. We have to prevent her from looking stunning than me tonight."
Beatrice sneered self-assuredly. "It's true, but there is nothing I can do about her face. But I have a way to make her look less beautiful. No worries. I have a plan. She will serve as an ugly contrast to you, and you will be in the spotlight at the party." 'We've had enough from her today. She will know herself better tonight. Even though Alexander king had her back, she would still be nobody if she was not one of the Grays'.'
Sophia gave Beatrice a grin for what she said. "My mom is the best!"
In another part of Los Angeles, a tall black building stood its ground.
At this moment inside the meeting room, every worker was sweating beads. Despite the fact that the air conditioning was on which was supposed to make the temperature a negative degree but they were still sweating.
In the center seat was a handsome man, if looks could kill then this man's looks would definitely have committed countless crimes.
His cold eyes scanned every person sitting at the meeting table.
Not one person dared to look up to meet the man's eyes.
The man who caused the employees to tremble in their seat was none other than Alexander King.
*A few moments earlier*
After walking out of the jewelry shop, Derek quickly opened the car door for Alex who got into the back seat while Derek sat down beside him.
"What is my schedule for today?" Alex inquired as he opened the laptop in the car and started working on it.
"Boss, I learned that the contract between our company and Lexi Corps had not been terminated." Derek reported. Actually the company he was talking about was a branch of the King conglomerate that was established here in Los Angeles, but it was still considered a King conglomerate since it had the same name. Alex had received some unpleasant report concerning the contract he had signed with Lexi corps and instantly he had asked the
workers to terminate the contract.
"Call all the employees that were present when I gave the order to terminate the contract to meet me at the meeting room." Alex ordered without bothering to ask why they haven't carried out his order yet. *Present moment*
"Before I left, specifically gave thePublished by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
order that you guys should
terminate the contract with Lexi Corps. Why am I hearing that it hasn't been terminated yet?" His deep and cold voice was low but it
was loud enough to penetrate each person's soul with fear.
One of the employees who was brave enough despite cold sweat running down his back looked at his big Boss. "We forgot to inform assistant Wayne that you would be meeting their chairman today as well."
The moment the rest of the employees heard their colleague's words, they all glared at him ready to shred him to pieces even before their monstrous boss did.
'Geez, have some tart you stupid fool.'
'Are you nuts?! You're not supposed to tell him that?'
'We have not yet settled the matter that we can't terminate the contract and yet you're telling him that he has to meet their chairman.'
'I should be careful next with the fools I work with. It's over, I will not only lose my job but my life as well!'
'Aii, so this is where my grave was all along.' The other employees in the meeting room cried internally, some of them could already picture themselves digging their own graves.
They all know who they are working for and how ruthless he was.
Alexander King is a man known as a completely cold and ruthless human. Alexander king became someone that people feared as a wave of fear would wash over everyone the moment his name was mentioned. A demon is what he is nicknamed as.
Apart from the King family being a
very powerful family in the world, no one knew the real identity of the King family and that of Alexander king. Aside from a reputation as a ruthless businessman, his fearsome reputation in the underworld had spread wide and far.
