Chapter 37
Kim sent Ice a text. “Dunno where you are, but I hope you’re safe. I really need you right now.”
She got no response from Ice. The next day she took her dad to make burial arrangements for her funeral. Afterwards, Kim sat in her window seat in her old bedroom. Still no response from Ice.
She decided to send him another text. “Nanna passed away. Wish you were here with me. Stay safe.”
Two more days passed with no response from Ice. The funeral was finally here. Her dad’s boss’s son walked with her and sat with her at the funeral. They were grooming him to take over the business. He’s shown interest in her in the past, but Kim always turned him down. He’s a nice guy, but she had no feelings towards him at all.
ICE’S POINT OF VIEW
He got Kim’s messages, but couldn’t reply. The job the government had him do this time was hard for him to complete. In the past he just acted like a machine. This time it was difficult because he kept thinking what would Kim think about him if she knew?
She had his feelings all jumbled up. And the cold-hearted killer he was, seemed to exist no more. Yes, he’s a sniper for the government. One of their best. One thing is for sure, once he got back, he’s signing paperwork to retire permanently.
He made it to the funeral to see her sitting with some guy in an expensive suit. He was helping her, caring for her, consoling her. This was the guy she should be with. He probably doesn’t have blood on his hands. He decided to leave before she saw him.
BACK TO KIM
Kim still hadn’t heard from Ice. Raine messaged her to say he just got back so she sent another text.
“Missing you so bad. Are you ok?” She texted.
But again, no response. She had a bad feeling but would deal with it when she got home tomorrow. Kim got home and didn’t bother unpacking. She dropped her suitcases in her room then texted Ice she’s home and still nothing.
So, she went to the clubhouse. Ice was sitting at the bar. She sat down beside of him.
“So, you want to explain the radio silence?” Kim asked.
“I was working.” He replied.
“Yes, but the last two days you weren’t.” Kim replied. “My Nanna died. It would have been nice to have you there.”
“Well guess I’m not a nice guy.” He replied.
“What is wrong with you? Why are being so mean and cold to me? Before you left everything was perfect. But now? Did I do something wrong?” Kim asked.
“Nah babe. We’ve just ran our course. Time to move on.” He replied not even looking at her.
“You look me in the face and tell me you coward.” Kim cried.
He finally looked at her. “Sorry, but it’s over.”
“Just like that?” Kim asked tears running down her face.
“Just like that.” He confirmed.
“I see where you get your name from. You deserve it, Ice.” Kim sneered.
She stood up and ran out of the clubhouse past Raine not bothering to even stop to talk to her.
“Kim wait!” Raine hollered.
But Kim didn’t stop. Raine turns to Ice. “Ice what did you say to her?”
“I just told her it’s over.” He replied.
“What? Why?” Raine asked.
“Cause it is.” He replied.
“That’s fucking bullshit and you know it! What crawled up your ass?” Raine retorted.
“Nothing.” He replied.
“Ice, I love you like a brother. But right now? Right now, I really hate you! You just destroyed my sister! How could you? I hope you’re proud of yourself! You’re right. She does deserve better! She deserves someone who will love her and treat her like a queen and not a whore!” Raine retorted.
Then she waddled off best she could. She’s now six months pregnant.
Kim went home. She cried in her room for a couple of days. Then she decided it was time to get back to work and focus on something other than her pitiful love life. Enough feeling sorry for herself. If Ice can dismiss her that easy, he obviously didn’t deserve her love.
It’s been a couple of weeks. Kim hasn’t been to the bar or clubhouse. She even refused to talk about him to Sam and Raine. One day she was in the salon working on a perm when a biker chic came in.
Sam recognized she has another MC on her jacket. Her boss was refusing the woman service and being snooty about it.
“I’m sorry but we are by appointment only and I really don’t have any open appointments for weeks.” The salon manager stated.
“You’re booked up? Or you don’t want to work on someone like me?” Biker chic asked.
“Gail, I’m almost done with my client if she can wait 30 minutes? I don’t have any more clients for the day.” Kim replied.
“No. You’re done after your current client. Besides if we let her kind come in, before you know it, we’ll be overrun with a bunch of bikers and our regular clients will quit coming.” Gail replied.
“Gail! That’s rude of you to say. Just because she’s a member of a MC, doesn’t mean she’s a bad woman. Lots of MC’s are respectable.” Kim replied.
“You watch your tongue, or you’ll be without a job!” Gail retorted.
“You know what? I’m going to finish my current client, then I am done here for good! Consider this my resignation and you can shove this job up your stuck-up ass!” Kim retorted.
She turned to her client. She apologized, and then finished her hair.
“I’ll be by Friday to get my last check.” Kim replied.
“Don’t look for a reference!” Gail retorted.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“If you so much as bad mouth me to any other employer, I will make your life a living hell! My best friend is the wife to the president of a MC club!” Kim replied, then packed up her stuff and left.
Kim went home and spent the next several days contacting all the local salons but none of them were hiring. She finally decided it’s best if she just moved back home. There are more job opportunities there and she needed to put distance between her and Ice.
Raine was busy with Jax and the club and she can’t go see her for fear of running into Ice. And when Sam isn’t working, she’s with Smokey. On Thursday she packed up all her stuff and contacted the girls.
