Chapter 87
87 I need an explanation
On the other side, Ariel flung Aaron’s arms off her shoulders and stormed inside. When Aaron saw that Ariel could walk with a little limp, his lips set into a thin line. He indeed had some suspicions, but he still held hope towards Ariel. Aaron believed that Ariel would at least have a bit of shame left in her heart and wouldn’t do something so shameful as interfering between Ari and Noah.
Not when their relationship was already crumbling like wet sand.
However, his elder sister showed him why exactly he shouldn’t have held even the smallest flicker of faith toward her.
He glanced at the furious Ariel who was heading inside the house and then turned to look at his mother. Mrs Harlow’s face was twisted in a deep scowl that had a hint of worry. Aaron couldn’t help but wonder why she was worried.
Given everything was happening according to what Mrs. Harlow wanted, shouldn’t she be overjoyed, wasn’t she the one who wanted Ariel and Noah to get together, more than anyone?
“I will be taking my leave as well,” Aaron told his mother. Despite the questions in his head, he would rather not stay with Ariel and his parents, as he knew that it would only lead to another quarrel.
However, when he came to the Harlow house, he wanted to
stay back and enjoy a decent night with his family. He even thought that maybe their family might finally be able to get closer. But with how twisted the attitudes of his family members were, Aaron knew that it was impossible.
He glanced at his mother, who was lost in her thoughts and
shook his head.
With his feet twisting to the left, Aaron made his way out of the house, leaving a nervous and angry Mrs. Harlow who stomped her feet and then walked inside her home.
She wasn’t concerned about Aaron, who left home without saying much, nor did she care about his disappointment. The only thing that she cared about currently was Ari’s departure and divorce. Her shoulders were slouched in fear and worry when she thought about how she would be subjected to torment if Ari were to give her body to some other man.
That girl was long sought by the patron who had sponsored their family. In case Ari got entangled with some other man, wouldn’t she and her family have to cough out the money that they have saved for themselves?
Mrs. Harlow had saved every penny that she got after agreeing to let the patron who approached her, through that organization, have her daughter. While she pushed Ari to the corner and made her work until her back was bent, she had saved every single dollar that came to her account each
month.
This was all because she wanted to enjoy a wonderful old age.
And even if it came at the cost of her young daughter’s life, Mrs Harlow did not feel guilty. That girl was supposed to live like this, and it wasn’t her fault either. Who asked Ari to
resemble the woman’s criteria according to which the human trafficking organization was looking for?
The patron wanted a woman with light rosy hair and eyes as blue as the sea, the people from that organization told her that even if she did not give Ariana to them– they had more than one way to deal with her.
Indirectly, they meant to inform her that even if she did not agree to let them have Ari, they could always snatch her away. Since they were going to snatch her away anyway, Mrs. Harlow chose the lesser evil. She agreed to let the patron have her daughter in exchange for a fixed sum of money.
Of course, she was greedy enough to keep Ari with her until she was an adult to make sure that the money wouldn’t stop.
Mrs Harlow, however, was now rather worried as Ari was at this moment like a treasury chest out in the open. Anyone could steal it if she were not careful enough. It made her anxious, this loss of control.
As she pushed the door of her room, she heard the sound of something being thrown on the ground and knew that her husband was drunk again, but she did not have an opportunity to care about him.
The next second, Ariel, who was waiting for her in the room, came marching over. She looked at her mother with tears in her eyes and questioned her, “Mom, tell me, am I not your

daughter? Why do you treat me like this? You know how long I have waited to get Noah, and yet, you want Ari to cancel the divorce proceedings?” As she spoke, Ariel stomped her feet on the floor like a child who did not get what she wanted.
“AHHH!! Which bastard is screaming? Can you not see that I am trying to drink in peace here?” Mr. Harlow’s drunk voice came from the kitchen and Mrs. Harlow immediately pushed her daughter inside the bedroom as she did not want her husband to take his anger out on Ariel.
That man was a useless dimwit who lost his job because of his own lack of skills, but he still liked to blame others. Mrs.
Harlow let that man have everything his way because it was
convenient.
But that was only when it was concerned to Ari.
She couldn’t let that man touch Ariel. Her daughter was an uprising actress and her face was her money and fame, if that man ruined Ariel in his drunken haze, Mrs Harlow would be filled with endless regret.
“Why are you screaming?” Mrs Harlow scolded her daughter and questioned her with an annoyed expression. “Do you not know that your father hates it the most when he is disturbed while drinking, do you want to face his anger like your siblings?” Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Ariel, however, did not see the wrong in her actions. She glared at her mother and then said to her, “Am I in the wrong, or you are in the wrong? Why did you ask Ari to cancel the divorce proceedings? Mother, don’t you think that you need to
