Chapter 440
Susan felt a wave of caution surge up, instinctively refusing, "I don't even know you. What could we possibly talk about?"
The man gave a slight smile, taking off his sunglasses to reveal a handsome, gentle face. "After today, you'll know me," he said, nodding politely at Susan. "I might be able to help you find a solution to your troubles. Don't you want to give it a shot?" Susan eyed the unfamiliar face, her heart full of wariness. She unconsciously took a step back, her eyebrows knitting together. "Do you even know what's bothering me?"
"It's all about Casper," the man said, as if he could read her mind, cutting straight to the chase. "I can tell you clearly, Valerie is indeed Eliza. She and Casper were married, and that Brock is their son. It's all true."
Just as she had suspected. Susan felt a mix of disappointment and confusion. But...
How did this man know all this so clearly?
"Who exactly are you?"
"If you want to know who I am, come with me," he invited again.
Susan shook her head, stepping back three times. How could she possibly go with a man whose name she didn't even know? What if he was dangerous? She'd have nowhere to turn for help. "I'm not going anywhere with you."
The man shrugged, looking indifferent. He seemed confident that one day, she would seek him out again. He handed her a slip of paper. "This is my contact info. I think you'll find it useful." Susan didn't want to take it. But... her hand reached out on its own, grabbing the slip of paper. A phone number, but no name.
"You're quite mysterious. Are you Casper's arch-enemy? Do you have a grudge against the Welton family, or is it with Welton International?" Susan speculated.
The man laughed. This girl wasn't as naive as he had thought.
"To be precise, my grudge is only with Casper."
Susan hadn't expected to be half right, and she became a bit more interested. "A grudge with him alone? Is that... over a past love?"
"Something like that."
This guess wasn't particularly
satisfying. Susan's face wrinkled in
disdain as she looked at the man, who seemed quite refined. "You're a grownman; why be so petty? There are plenty of women out there."
"There are plenty of men out there, too. Why do you insist on marrying Casper?" the man countered.
His question caught Susan off guard. Perhaps it was because of her unworthy love. Was the man in the car also a lover? Could it be related to Eliza? "Do you fancy Casper's ex-wife?"
"Not entirely," he gave a noncommittal answer.
Susan, touching her chin, suddenly found the man before her interesting. "Then... which of Casper's past women is it?"
"You're so curious, why not come with me?" the man teased, his eyes hinting that he would tell her everything if she did.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Yet, Susan still took a step back. "I don't even know your name; just because I'm curious doesn't mean I'll get in a car with you. I'm not that foolish." "You can call me Mr. A."
Ah, still a mysterious code. She had
to admit, among all the men and
boys she knew, there were let
many who loved to put on an act The man before her couldn't
possibly think he was some kind of secret agent, right?
né
Susan raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement tugging at her lips. "Alright then, if the day comes when I can't solve it myself, I think contact you."
"I'll be waiting."
The car window rose, and the man's car left without a moment's hesitation. Susan saved his number, casually tossing the slip of paper into a trash can.
