How I Remarry My Ex-Wife by Alvin Humphre

Chapter 2

2.Chapter 2 Her Heart Died

Standing aside, Alison Mackenzie, Thiago’s mother, commented sarcastically, “I’ve told you, a lowborn girl like her isn’t worthy of marrying into our family!”

Megan Mackenzie, Thiago’s younger sister, who had been observing from the sidelines, couldn’t restrain herself from interjecting, “I know, right? Just go ahead and get a divorce, Thiago! What’s the big deal?”

Hearing that, Whitney couldn’t help but laugh self-deprecatingly. In her three years of marriage to Thiago, she had spent all her time setting aside her dignity to please them, only to receive their blame and insults. They weren’t even interested in hearing her explanation or understanding what had actually happened.

‘How ironic!’ she thought wryly.

Just then, a sudden warmth enveloped Whitney’s palm, prompting her to look up. To her surprise, Thiago’s paternal grandmother, Tatiana, stood by her side and held her hand, glaring disapprovingly at the others.

“I don’t believe Whitney would do anything like that!” Tatiana declared with conviction, her aged voice expressing her clear support.

Her words warmed Whitney’s heart. In the Mackenzie family, only Tatiana treated Whitney with sincerity.

While speaking, Tatiana took Whitney’s hand, intending to walk away, but they were intercepted by Megan, who hurriedly blocked their path.Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Grandma! Whitney pushed Quincey down the stairs. Everyone saw it!” She pointed at the frail Quincey lying on the floor, speaking in a self-righteous tone, “Look how badly injured Quincey is. If it weren’t for her kindness, Whitney would’ve been taken away by the cops! You can’t be so biased!”

“Move!” Tatiana scolded unhappily, glancing sideways at Quincey. From the moment Tatiana first saw Quincey, she never liked the woman. ‘Whitney will never hurt her!’ she thought.

However, Megan turned a deaf ear, persisting in her accusations. “Thiago is only asking Whitney to apologize. Isn’t that just the right thing to do? Stop defending her!”

She walked past her grandmother toward Whitney and forcefully pushed Whitney’s shoulder. “You! Apologize to Quincey now, or you’re going to pay the price for this!”

Caught off guard, Whitney stumbled and fell to the floor.

Distress washed over Tatiana. She rushed to help Whitney up, but an overwhelming sense of dizziness overcame her. She then blacked out and collapsed.

“Grandma!” Thiago called out.

“Tatiana!” shrieked Alison.

“Mrs. Mackenzie!” The guests gasped.

Panic swept over everyone, and they rushed forward to check on the elderly woman.

Meanwhile, Whitney lay on the sidelines, blood trickling from the gash on her forehead where she had been hurt earlier. After Megan shoved her, feeling too weak to get up and see how Tatiana was doing, she could only watch helplessly as Tatiana was placed on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance waiting at the door.

Suddenly, a dark figure towered over her. Whitney barely had time to look up before Thiago’s icy voice hit her. “You’re nothing compared to Quincey.”

She repeated the words in her heart. Without another word, Thiago walked off, leaving her there with the pain throbbing in her heart.

‘Yeah, I’m not sneaky or mean like her, not one bit,’ Whitney thought, the blood from her forehead mixing with her tears.

Lying frailly on the cold floor, Whitney stared into the space around her and wondered why she was even trying to hold on to this marriage.

“Excuse me, but you need to move. We’re cleaning up here, and we don’t want you to get wet,” a worker said.

The whispering of the other servants stung her ears. “She looks nothing like Mrs. Mackenzie should look!”

With effort, Whitney cracked her eyes open and saw them looking down at her. Feeling dizzy and her voice raspy, she barely whispered, “Can someone… please… take me to get help…”
