Chapter 21 The Old Swindler
Chapter 21 The Old Swindler
The old man who called himself Zander Scott said a lot of things to praise Atlas.
Atlas did not say a word and kept looking at him with strange eyes. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
"Ahem! Lad, do you have anything to eat? Those guys tied me up for a whole day. I haven't eaten a
single thing!"
Seeing that Atlas was not interested in his compliments, Zander changed the topic.
Atlas threw him a bag of bread.
Zander immediately tore open the bag and took a bite. It seemed that he was really hungry.
"Who are you? Why did they tie you up?" Atlas asked.
Hearing Atlas asking about his identity, Zander immediately puffed up his chest and looked up at the
night sky.
"I'm Zander Scott, the only descendant of the 136th generation of the Gile School, a prestigious
geomancy master! Boy, you must've heard of me, right? Surprised?" Zander put on a smug face.
"The Gile School founded by the Sage Bruce Gile?" Atlas asked.
Zander gave him another thumbs-up, "You are knowledgeable. That's the one"
"Isn't Bruce Gile best at military tactics and politics? When did he start studying geomancy?" A hint of
sarcasm appeared in Atlas' eyes.
"Ahem ahem..." Zander was almost choked to death by a mouthful of bread. He quickly explained,
"What do you know? The Sage was like an encyclopedia. Geomancy was a piece of cake for him!"
"You're lucky today. Since you saved me, as long as you pay me 2000 bucks, I'll take you as my
disciple. What do you think?"
Atlas continued to stare at him silently.
"Kid, I normally won't accept disciples no matter how much money you give me. You saved my life and
I saw that you're quite talented. That's why I wanted to take you as my disciple. If you miss this chance,
you're gonna regret it!"
Zander looked at Atlas, as if he had really compromised a great deal of his own interest.
Atlas was impassive. "Since you are so great, why were you almost buried alive?"
Zander rolled his eyes and suddenly sighed. "Alas, don't mention it. It's all my fault for being too soft-
hearted. Today, I have taught the three of them geomancy, which already reached the daily limit. But an
official knelt in front of me and begged me to help him. I thought he was very sincere, so I made an
exception and agreed."
"However, Master had specially warned me when he taught me Star Methods of Geomancy. I could at
most give three people some pointers a day. If there were more than three people, something would
happen and my life would be shortened!"
"But I was soft-hearted, so I went with the official. As a result, I made a mistake when I helped him
inspect the house. I followed the trace and accidentally found the place where he hid his little mistress."
"His wife new and of course blew up, and the two of them fought fiercely. That official was so angry that
he said that I was someone hired by his wife and he tied me up."
"I didn't expect him to be so crazy as to want my life!"
Atlas naturally would not believe Zander's words.
The fact that he had offended the official might be true. As for other people begging him, and the
limitation of helping only three people a day, these were very likely his nonsense.
However, since he was able to find out the man's mistress, surely he did have some skills, but not
proficient enough.
After some analysis, Atlas felt that Zander was a charlatan, who had been taken revenge for cheating.
"Kid, have you made up your mind? Do you want to be my disciple?" Zander was still trying to tempt
Atlas.
Atlas did not want to waste any more time with him. He stood up and walked back to the stone. "You
can go now."
Zander suddenly became anxious. "Hey, lad, think about it. This happened once in a blue moon."
"If you don't have that much money, I'll take less. 1500, 1000, 800, or you can give me those food..."
Atlas suddenly turned around, holding a stone in his hand. He casually pinched it a few times, as if he
was holding a piece of tofu, and crushed the solid stone into powder.
Zander's eyes widened as he looked at Atlas in shock!
Atlas felt that the old swindler should have retreated because of difficulties.
However, Zander suddenly knelt on the ground and bowed, "You are a martial artist! Please accept me
as your disciple!"
Atlas was a little speechless. This person was quite shameless. He had failed to cheat him out of
money, so now he wanted to follow him!
However, Atlas was curious that Zander had heard of martial artists. It seemed that he should know
something.
"How do you know I'm a martial artist?"
Zander put away his playful smile and said respectfully and solemnly, "When I was seven years old, I
saw a strange person and another person flying in the sky."
"From then on, I firmly believe that there are really martial-arts masters who can fly over eaves and run
over walls in the world. I have been searching for a long time, as a result, I met my master. He ripped
me off three hundred bucks and passed me a book called Star Methods of Geomancy."
"But I didn't give up. I continue to search while learning geomancy. Now, god bless me. I've found it!"
Zander kowtowed again and said, "Master, please accept me! I am willing to be your servant. I only
hope you can accept me as your disciple!"
Atlas glanced at him. He didn't expect Zander to have such a tough heart, but he didn't want to accept
a disciple.
"I'm not interested. Leave now!"
"My efforts had been in vain before. Today, you saved me from death. This is God's arrangement! If
Master doesn't accept me, I won't leave even if I die." Zander didn't mind being brazen.
Atlas waved his hand, and sent Zander away with his strong inner force. However, Atlas controlled his
strength and did not hurt him.
Zander rolled dozens of meters away and looked at Atlas agape. He was more determined to be Atlas'
disciple now. "He is so powerful at such a young age. I am sure he is my master," he thought to
himself, "Maybe it's too abrupt for him to acknowledge me as his disciple. Or maybe he is testing my
sincerity..."
Zander had an idea. He sat down and stared at Atlas.
Atlas knew that Zander did not leave, but he couldn't care less. With the Protective Shield, Zander
wasn't able to disturb him.
Atlas continued with his practice. At five o'clock in the morning, the Spiritual Energy of the nature
suddenly became violent, and a gust of wind swept the woods.
Atlas opened his eyes, and looked more energetic and powerful.
Suddenly, he combined his index finger and middle finger as a sword toward one direction and a red
light shot out. A basketball-sized stone five meters away was smashed by the red light.
"Spiritual power can be released, I reached to the early stage of the Foundation Phase!"
When Zander saw this scene in a daze, he took a deep breath and was too amazed to speak.
Atlas stepped down and passed by Zander. Just as Zander was about to follow him, Atlas said, "If you
follow me, I will kill you."
Zander suddenly stopped. He believed that Atlas would do what he said.
However, Zander would never give up.
Seeing Atlas walking away, Zander suddenly looked at the place where Atlas was practicing, where
Atlas left the stuff he bought from the supermarket.
Zander walked over, and picked up the plastic bag. Suddenly, he felt happy.
