Love at the Door

Chapter 29

Andrew had no idea that Melina didn’t spend a single cent of his money at Oakread. The two of them

went to the mall.

Andrew was an eye–catching person. He was obviously a rich president at first glance.

Melina was wearing her old clothes. She looked like a cute yet poor student. When the both of them stood side by side, it was easy to see them as a sugar daddy shopping with his sugar baby

Everyone was staring at them, but both of them didn’t feel anything at all. Andrew didn’t care, while Melina didn’t mind being stared at

Melina was also sneaking glances at Andrew. She thought that Andrew had been acting strange recently. She couldn’t believe someone like Andrew would shop for groceries with her.

In the past, he hated her so much that he treated her terribly and kept making things difficult for her. But now, he had mellowed out a lot. He mellowed out so much that Melina started to think that they could get along.

When they were shopping, Andrew was tasked with pushing the shopping trolley while Melina picked out the groceries. They looked like a real married couple.

Melina bought a lot of food. Besides some fresh vegetables and meat, she also picked some expensive ingredients. As she picked out the groceries, she cried over how expensive the food in Cyntia was inwardly.

After totaling up the price, she estimated that it was around 800 to 900 dollars. Think about Wallace, Melina bit the bullet and grabbed an expensive fish.

Andrew watched her from behind with mocking eyes, Based on the results of his investigation, Melina couldn’t even bear to buy eggs, yet now she was purposely picking all the expensive ingredients

He wondered if Melina was actually stupid or if she was just playing dumb. She refused the gracious offer he gave her and instead chose to take advantage of him now, of all times.

After picking out all the groceries, Melina lined up to pay at the counter. The total price was 980 dollars.

Just as Andrew was about to pay, Melilna pulled out her purse and quickly handed a thousand dollars over to the cashier. Her heart ached because she had never spent so much money in one go before, but she didn’t hesitate when she handed the money over.

Andrew was stunned. It was the first time a woman paid for him while they were together.

After paying for the groceries, she kept the change and grabbed the grocery bags. She looked at Andrew and asked in confusion, “Mister, what’s the matter with you? Let’s go!”

Andrew followed her with cold eyes. A trace of anger slipped out of his gentle façade. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

“Melina, you don’t need to act all gracious in front of me. Even if you pay for these groceries, it won’t change my impression of you.”

Melina was confused. Andrew was fine just a while ago. Why did his mood worsen all of a sudden?

Did he feel humiliated because Melina paid for him? Melina patiently explained, “It’s because I got used to buying the groceries myself to cook for us.

“I forgot I already moved out and that I didn’t need to take care of you anymore. I won’t do something like this again.”

Darle 24

She was poor to begin with. If she was just feeding herself, she wouldn’t have bought such expensive Ingredients Since it was rare for Wallace to visit them and Andrew was a picky eater, she wanted them to have a good meal.

The anger in Andrew’s eyes faded away for a moment. Take care of me?”

Melina nodded.

Andrew was stunned. He was utterly dumbfounded. He thought that Melina was eating and living well in Oakread.

He thought Dorothy would handle everything, but Dorothy also thought Andrew would handle everything. After all, no woman had ever stayed with him in the past. Melina was the first.

Andrew never thought that when he purposely made things difficult for Melina, Melina was using her money sparingly to take care of him. He suddenly remembered the bowl of pasta Melina made him and how Melina’s pasta didn’t have an egg.

She couldn’t even bear to eat eggs. Did Wallace not give her any money? After some thought, Andrew realized Wallace might not have given her a single cent

People like them would never be so poor that they couldn’t afford food. Wallace would give her a lot of gifts, but he probably wouldn’t give her money. Melina didn’t take any of those expensive gifts with her.

Andrew heard that she came from the mountains and was a student who had just gotten into college. She might actually be poor. No wonder she needed to work as a fishmonger at the supermarket.
