A Name of Legacy

“I’ve said it before, Emmanuel, you and Mackenzie should decide,” Terence
said with a bittersweet smile. “There was a time when I wanted nothing more
than for this child to bear the Quillen name, but these past two years have
changed my perspective. I’ve let go of many old obsessions.
“As long as he’s alive and healthy, that’s all that matters. The name doesn’t
define the person or the bloodline. It’s just a label. Besides, the Quillen family
has already fallen once, and it’s only thanks to you, Emmanuel, that we’ve
rebuilt. The one leading the family now should be you, so let the child take the
Lowe name. This is also in line with your mother’s last wish–to see the Lowe
family continue.”
Everyone felt a pang of emotion after hearing Terence’s words, and
Emmanuel nodded solemnly, feeling the weight of responsibility.
Just then, Mackenzie’s weak voice came from the delivery room. “Emmanuel,
can you bring our baby to me? I want to see him.”

“Of course!” Emmanuel, still excited, carefully carried the baby into the room,
with the rest of the group following behind him, their faces lit up with joy.
Mackenzie lay in bed, her face still covered in sweat and her hair disheveled,
but when she saw her son, a tired yet content smile spread across her face.
“Mackenzie, have you thought of a name for our son?” Emmanuel asked
gently. Despite being a 5–star Battle General, he showed no sign of
arrogance when it came to his wife.
“Hmm, a boy, huh?” Mackenzie said with a hint of disappointment. “I was
planning to name him Clara, but that’s too feminine for a boy.”
“Clara?” Everyone looked at her in surprise.
Only Emmanuel understood perfectly the meaning behind the name. They
had only made it this far, with their child safely in their arms, thanks to
Claudette and Sarah. The name was meant to honor the sacrifices those two
women had made for them.

“Emmanuel, how about we name our son Caden? If we have a daughter next,
we’ll name her Clara.” Mackenzie suggested, valuing her husband’s input. As
the head of the household, she wanted him to have the final say.
“Caden?” Emmanuel asked, intrigued.
Mackenzie smiled and nodded. “Yes. The name means ‘pure‘ or ‘spirit,‘ and it
reminds me of the strength and grace Sarah always had. I want our son to
carry that same sense of peace and purity, to honor her in a way that suits
him.”
It was clear she wanted their son to carry on Sarah’s legacy, even if it was in
a more subtle way. Emmanuel understood completely and smiled in return.
“That sounds perfect. Our son will be named Caden Lowe, and if we have a daughter, we’ll name her Clara Quillen, after you and Sarah.”
Everyone around them nodded in agreement, thinking the names were fitting and meaningful.
“What do you think, Grandpa?” Mackenzie asked, looking toward Terence.

“Haha, I think it’s perfect! Caden Lowe–purity and strength combined. I hope
計
he lives a free and joyful life, just like his name suggests!” Terence responded
with a bright smile.
With the name decided, the room filled with a brief moment of joy and
peace.
The next morning, however, Eve brought word from Sage, and Emmanuel had
to tear himself away from his newborn son.
“Commander, we’ve lost contact with Ashton, Julian, and your sister. No one’s
been able to reach them.”
Emmanuel’s heart sank. His sister was his only remaining family, and if
anything happened to her, he couldn’t fathom the grief he would feel. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
“Have we found any information about their whereabouts in Eldoria?”
“Yes,” Sage quickly replied. “I contacted Ashton’s colleagues in Onza. They said Ashton mentioned heading to the Ancient Woods of Eldoria for refuge.”

“The Ancient Woods?” Emmanuel frowned. It wasn’t the first time he’d heard
of the place, but he had never been there.
“That’s right. After a full investigation, we learned that the Summerton family
of Zovince went into hiding years ago, taking control of the Ancient Woods.
They sent one branch to Onza to handle their business affairs, providing
them with money and weapons,” Sage continued.
Emmanuel nodded, recalling the stories Julian had told him and his sister
about the Summerton family. He hadn’t known, though, that their hidden
base was in Eldoria.
“Could it be that Ashton knew someone powerful was targeting them, and to
save her life, she took Julian and my sister to the Ancient Woods for
protection?”
