Chapter 11
The video revealed a cliff’s edge where a figure stood, strikingly familiar. The woman appeared ghastly pale, her hair in disarray, lips smeared with blood, and her clothes, drenched in blood, clung to her barely covering her body. It was a shocking, disturbing sight, reflecting the horrors she must have endured.
At the sight of the figure in the video, Dominick’s face suddenly changed, and he stood up from his seat.
“You surely can run. We’ve been chasing you all night!”
A man’s voice came from the computer, tinged with malice and a sinister chuckle.
Dominick clenched his fists tightly, watching the figures on the screen, and then heard another man’s voice come through.
“Ms. Mitchell, we’ve got no beef with you. I’m okay to let you go. How about this? Give Dominick a call. If he’s willing to come get you, you’re free to go.”
A cell phone was thrown at Lola’s feet.
Dominick collapsed into his chair, feeling a choking sensation. He watched Lola pick up the phone from the ground, her fingers stained with blood, and tap out numbers on the screen; throughout, several men watched with mocking
smiles.
“Dom, I’ve been abducted. They say they’ll release me if you come.”
Lola’s voice, intertwined with the whisper of the wind, drifted from the computer.
Lola was momentarily shocked after hearing something on the phone. Dominick observed her repeatedly dialing his number, a desperate gesture akin to clutching at a lifeline, yet the call never connected. A man’s voice emanated once more from the computer.
“Oh! I forgot to tell you, Ms. Moore is deeply depressed due to her tragic miscarriage, so Dominick is taking her abroad for a change of scene.”
The phone slipped from Lola’s palm, crashing to the ground.
Lola cried, and as she wept, a sudden laugh broke through her tears.
Dominick clutched at his chest, feeling a stabbing pain, as if something vital had vanished forever from his life. He lifted his gaze, noticing Lola look at the group around, then run towards the cliff’s edge, and leap off!
“Lola!” Dominick muttered, lost in his thoughts.
Others might not know what was said on that call, but he did.
He had said, “I’m busy.”
The video continued. After Lola fell off the cliff, several men, who seemed to have never intended to let Lola live. walked to the edge of the cliff, chatting and laughing. They looked down below and strode away with their wolf–dog.
“Lola!” Dominick called out again, but his vision blurred before he crumbled to the ground…

encompassing military, political, and business circles. The event was magnificent and unprecedented.
A sleck, black Rolls–Royce dive down the street, with Henry in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing at the two people in the backseat through the rearview mirror.
Dominick was dressed in a black suit with a sapphire blue shirt underneath. He sat quietly, gazing out of the window, his hand tightly cloiching a cell phone. Jessica wore a sapphire blue gown, revealing her left shoulder. Her long hair was elegantly coiles up at the back of her head, adorned with a tiara, looking noble and graceful.
“Dominick, Frank wants us to get married as soon as possible”
Jessica suggled up, wrapping her arms around Dominick’s arm, her delicate body clinging to him.
“It’s been two years since Landon’s accident. No one mentions it anymore. Even though that baby couldn’t come into this world because of Lola, I feel it will still return to my side Dominick, give yourself a chance, and give the baby at
chance too.”
Dominick had been staring out the window until he heard the mention of “Lola“. He slowly turned his gaze to Jessica as if in slow motion.
“What did you just say?”
“I said Frank wants us to get married sound”
Seeing Dominick finally turn to her, Jessica spoke excitedly.
“Get married?
Dominick murmured softly, his eyes lowering to the phone in his hand.
Every member of the Sinclair family was urging him to marry Jessica as soon as possible, yet no one remembered that he was already married. His wife’s name was Lola, an ordinary and simple girl, the one who often followed him around. But he had lost her, and now he was waiting, waiting for her call.
This time, he wouldn’t miss his chance again.
Seeing Dominick’s reaction, Jessica’s hand clenched into a list,

Lola was dead!
She would never come back to life. Jessica believed that as long as Lola remained gone, she would inevitably become the only woman by his side.
The gala was a convergence of the elite from various industries. The men were dressed in sharp suits, while the women were dressed in evening gowns, and adorned with glittering jewels, their hair elegantly styled. Each person looked highly wealthy, and their backgrounds were undoubtedly remarkable,
At a quarter past eight, although time had already passed, the gala had yet to commence. Many guests had taken their seats in the hall, growing visibly impatient. Murmurs and speculations about the delay started spreading among the
crowd.
Dominick sat front and center, looking aloof and detached. He quietly looked up to the stage.

“Mr. Sinclair,” Henry approached, speaking in a low tone, “they say an important guest hasn’t arrived yet.”
Dominick’s brow furrowed slightly as he glanced at the seat beside him, which remained empty and unmarked.
Suddenly, the banquet hall doors burst open with a resounding crash.
At that moment, all eyes and lights shifted to the entrance, where a striking figure was standing.
The woman was dressed in a long–sleeved black gown, her wavy long hair draped over her shoulders. Her face, seemingly crafted by a divine artist, was breathtakingly beautiful, ethereal, and mesmerizing. With a hint of a smile. on her red, delicate lips, she radiated an air of nobility, overshadowing all the others.
“Sorry, I’m late!”
Her pleasant voice echoed at the entrance, carrying a hint of cool detachment, mixed with a touch of subtle nobility.
“She’s so beautiful!”
“Who is she? I never knew Talondria has such a charming lady.”
“The one who’s got half the big shots in Talondria waiting? She must be quite the high roller. I just wonder which family she belongs to?”
A buzz of hushed conversations filled the air as all eyes shifted towards the woman at the entrance. There was envy. admiration, jealousy, and curiosity in their gazes.
“Welcome, Ms. Lewis.
The host of the banquet immediately approached her, his tone not only respectful but also tinged with a careful attempt to please.
“It’s an honor to have you here tonight, Ms. Lewis. We’ve arranged a seat for you at the front of the banquet. Please, this way.”
The woman nodded slightly and then, surrounded by a crowd of people, slowly walked towards the front row.
