Marrying my high school bully

Emilia and Liam

Author’s POV

“If it isn’t the cheap whore,” She scoffed and approached Dexter with her fake sweet smile that I itched to slap off her face. There were two reasons I didn’t make a move at her: I was pregnant, and she also saved me from having to explain who Leonardo was.

“Honey, you’ve got to stop calling me cheap if you want to get your salary for this month. And after you’re done with whatever reason you came here for, you come to me. I haven’t used your services in a while.” I concluded my statement with a smirk and her eyes turned red.

She had forgotten that I intentionally made her work under me so that I could make her life miserable. The only reason I loosened the iron grip I had on her was because I’d been overwhelmed with work.

“Call her a whore again and you’ll join Liam where he is.” He thundered, averting his attention from me.

I liked that he stood up for me. I liked how his nose flared, and how his eyes darkened into a deeper shade of brown because he was angry.

His fists were clenched, yet, he suppressed his anger, and that reminded me that I was married to a man who respected women. He was just confused.

But what got me was knowing that Liam had been thrown into jail and I didn’t know about it.

I needed the full details and if Emilia knew about Liam then they had something together. I wondered if she already knew about him before poisoning me, or if she helped them to escape.

“I’m sorry, Dexter.” She flung herself at him like the real whore she was, pushing exposed her cleavages toward his midriff.

What made her think that coming half-naked to visit her baby’s daddy would make him listen to every whim of hers?

A sickening knot of jealousy twisted in my chest as the urge to punch her face surged through me, but it wasn’t my place to do that.

Dexter gently pushed her away, his face still locked in a scowl as he folded his hands. “Today isn’t your visiting day, so why did you come without calling?” He growled.

She pouted her lips and glared at me, but I remained unfazed as we waited for her response. “I came to see you for a private matter, Dex, and I’d like us to discuss it without her.” She referred to me and I almost burst into laughter.

He told me almost everything, so at the end of the day, I’d still get every detail of whatever they discussed.

Dexter spared a glance at me and winked. His face cracked with a calm smile which connoted a message I immediately understood. My heart leaped for joy when I realized that he didn’t want me to go anywhere.

“You can say whatever you want in front of her, but she isn’t going anywhere.” Dexter informed her and she gasped in surprise.

“But that isn’t possible, she isn’t even your wife. How will Lorraine feel if she returns and finds out that another woman has taken her place?”

Dexter took a step further, his shoulder visibly tense. “And how do you think Lorraine will feel if she finds out that the woman she called her friend before her disappearance slept with her husband?”

Emilia’s face was a typical description of the word ‘gobsmacked’. Her lips parted as she darted her eyes around everywhere but the both of us.

She regained composure and snapped her lips shut, then swallowed. “Alright, I’ll just say whatever I have to and I hope you listen to me.”

“Go on,” He replied with a bored tone.

“I came to make a request concerning Liam. I don’t think he deserves to be in jail for trying to steal from me.”

“Excuse me!” He hollered, “I thought you said you didn’t know anything about him. Why are you pleading on his behalf?”

She raked through her hair, biting her lower lip as she realized that she had shot herself in the foot. I was right about them knowing each other and now I had to know what their relationship was.

“Yeah, I don’t know him. I just felt guilty that he was arrested for no just cause and decided to plead on his behalf. Can you let him go for my sake?” She clasped her palms together, batting her lashes at him.

Dexter kept silent, flitted his eyes sideways then chuckled darkly. “If Liam was a thief, I wouldn’t have been that rough with him, but he did more than steal. Do you want to know what he did?” He asked and she nodded, apparently discovering that she wouldn’t be getting the favor she wanted from him. “He tried to rape my wife together with his friend. The second time, they sent another man who would have succeeded if her stepfather hadn’t come in. If you were in her shoes, would you expect me to forgive someone like that?”

She scratched her neck and pressed her lips together in thought while I stared at him proudly. How could he make me resent him and admire him at the same time?

“I wouldn’t like that.” She finally admitted.

“Good, so go back there and tell him that he should get ready to be transferred because I won’t be letting him out, and if I find out that the both of you know each other, you will explain your relationship in court.” He threatened with a condescending tone.

Knowing that she couldn’t win the argument, she stormed off but I was quick to stop her.

“Don’t leave yet, Emilia. We have unfinished business.” I veered to the sitting room while she mumbled angrily behind me.

Since the nanny who also doubled as the help sometimes had already made the table, we all sat down aside from Emilia whom I asked to eat in the sitting room.

“Does she have to eat there?” Dexter asked when she sulked to the couch to have her lunch and I shrugged.

“She called her boss a whore, don’t you think that the punishment is less?” I asked and he kept shut.

A wave of satisfaction rolled within me when I saw the humiliation on her face. I’m sure she was already wondering why I hated her so much. If only she could think hard, she might remember that she did something similar to an innocent lady a few years back.

Just when I thought that Dexter had forgotten completely about the question he asked me earlier, he brought it up again.

“So tell me, who’s the Leonardo you were speaking with?”

I couldn’t hide it anymore because he was bound to find out soon. “His name is Leonardo Jones.” I prayed that he wouldn’t do more digging and discover that he was the ex-wife of Sarah Hills.

I needed to be around him. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

“You can’t have anything to do with that man, he’s Lorraine’s wicked stepfather.”
