To Dustin, what happened earlier that day was only a small disruption.
That night, he accompanied Simone in her room as she handled some documents.
The day they had to deliver the goods was getting closer, so Simone was very busy.
Dustin frowned.
“Simone, I’m going outside for a moment,” he said. Then, he left the villa.
Outside the villa, there was a dark figure standing tall at night. The person’s face was hidden.
His gaze was fierce, and he carried with him the potential for violence.
Dustin looked at him calmly.
“Shadow Two, under whose orders have you come here?” he asked.
This was one of the nine elites the Wyatt family had trained.
He was Shadow Two.
Last time, Drake had killed Shadow One.
Naturally, it did not bode well that Shadow Two had shown up at this point.
Shadow Two was more powerful than Shadow One.
“I am here on the orders of Miss Clara,” Shadow Two said. His voice sounded icy.
Dustin frowned,
The Shadows had been trained by the head of the Wyatt family. They were one of the Wyatt family’s hidden strengths.
The head of the Wyatt family, Dustin’s adoptive father, had once told him that the Shadows would come
under his commands once he died.
However, for some reason, they were all following Lydia’s orders…
What surprised Dustin was that Clara could order Shadow Two around.
They did not care for anyone else but Lydia, who was the current matriarch of the Wyatt family, much less for her daughters.
Amara was the eldest daughter of the Wyatt family and was the company’s president, but even she could
not command the Shadows.
This showed how highly Lydia thought of Clara.
“Why have you come?” Dustin asked.
“I’m here to deliver a letter from Miss Clara,” Shadow Two said.
He flicked his wrist, and a letter came flying at Dustin like a sharp blade.
Dustin was nonchalant as he caught the letter with two fingers. His face did not change.
Opening the letter, Dustin found two tickets inside.
“Miss Clara invites you and Ms. Langley to attend her art exhibition which is to happen the day after tomorrow,” Shadow Two said. “Miss Clara said that if you dare, you can attend.”
Dustin grinned.
He could guess what Clara was planning.
“Tell her I’ll be there,” Dustin said.
Yet, Shadow Two stood in place and glared at Dustin.
After a moment, his gaze hardened. His body moved like a bullet as he rushed toward Dustin.
He was as fast as lightning and scary to boot.
He struck at Dustin. His momentum left the wind whooshing.
Dustin stood in place without moving. He struck his palm out.
Instantly, their palms met.
There was a loud slap, and Shadow Two’s eyes narrowed.
He fell back, and each of his steps was so heavy that he left deep prints in the ground.
Shadow Two retreated about a dozen steps before he forced himself to a stop. Under his mask, he looked shocked.
Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth, and it left a salty taste on his tongue.
“You are indeed his best student!” Shadow Two said slowly.
This one altercation had proved who was the most skilled fighter. Shadow Two could not match Dustin.
The members of the Wyatt family had misjudged Dustin…
“You killed Shadow One, didn’t you?” Shadow Two asked.
“He wasn’t even worthy of dying by my hand,” Dustin said disdainfully.
Shadow Two froze.
After a moment, he relaxed.
“Miss Clara was right. You’re dangerous!
“However, you won’t be able to win against the Wyatt family.” Shadow Two shook his head.
“What you see now is only the tip of the iceberg. It doesn’t matter if you studied under the head of the family. You know very little about the Wyatt family. Even the Wyatt sisters know very little about what goes on behind the scenes!
“You might be formidable, but you’re not the best. You cannot overcome the Wyatt family. Leave Rivenesco, and you’ll live.”
Dustin frowned.
It was indeed true that he did not know many of his adoptive father’s secrets.
He had realized long ago that the Wyatt family had a lot of hidden truths.
But he did not care that much about any of it.
Leaving Rivenesco was out of the question.
“Shadow Two, I have something to ask you,” Dustin said. “Why do you all… obey Lydia? Did my adoptive father say something to you before he died? Answer me!”
Dustin had not been there when the head of the Wyatt family had died.
At that time, he had been involved in a bloody battle with an international assassin organization that was scheming to steal the Wyatt family’s treasures. By the time he got back, his adoptive father had been buried already.
He had not been able to see or say goodbye to his adoptive father one last time. He also did not know what his adoptive father’s last words were or what he might have intended Dustin to do.
“I refuse to answer that,” Shadow Two said solemnly. “I won’t tell you even if you kill me. All I can say is that Miss Clara is the most intelligent of the Wyatt sisters. Meanwhile, the most capable is the matriarch Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
”
After that, Shadow Two turned and left.
Dustin was silent as he watched Shadow Two leave.
“Men!”
In the blink of an eye, several dark figures appeared before Dustin.
“Awaiting orders, My Liege.”
“Investigate the movements of the other Shadows. Investigate the matriarch of the Wyatt family, too!”
“Roger that!”
The Wyatt family was asleep, except Clara. The lights in her room were still on.
She was waiting for Shadow Two to report back.
After a long time, a dark shadow darted inside. The figure was on one knee before her.
“How did it go?” Clara asked.
“He’s more powerful than me…” Shadow Two said slowly.
Clara looked appalled when she heard that.
“How powerful?”
“He’s about as good as Shadow Five.”
Shadow Two’s face was grim. His palm was still bleeding from the encounter.
That one move had not moved Dustin even a single inch, but it had hurt him badly.
“Are you sure? He can hold his own against Shadow Five?” Clara stood up. She looked shocked.
“He was your father’s only student,” Shadow Two said,
“I’ve sparred with him before. Based on my assessment, his skills are close to Shadow Five’s.”
Clara frowned.
“This person cannot be allowed to stay in Rivenesco!” she said pointedly. “Have you delivered the tickets?”
“He said he’ll be there.”
“Very good.” Clara nodded. A small smile appeared on her face. “When the time comes and all those elite fighters show up, I will make them chase Dustin out of Rivenesco! Let’s see if he dares to resist at that time!”
After that, Clara looked at Shadow Two.
“Alright, you can leave. Keep an eye out, Report back if Dustin does anything!”
But Shadow Two did not get up.
“Miss Clara, could you please ask someone to help me downstairs?” he said respectfully.
“What?!” Clara was confused.
The next moment, Shadow Two collapsed on the floor. Below him was a huge pool of blood. Clara was taken aback. It took a long time for her to regain her composure.
