Rosalyn POV

I can't help the warmth that spreads through my chest when listening to Barrett speak.

Everything was taken from him and here he stands claiming us as his family. Looking out onto the pack as Barrett announces us as Alpha and Luna has my heart full. As the visiting pack members applaud, all the members of the Blue Crescent bare their necks. Seeing the

acceptance of his entire pack has pride flowing through our bond.

"Rose, get to Lily now" Zora says, her voice startling me. I want to ask what the hell is going

on, but the edge to her voice has me rushing off the stage. Growling in the distance has my heart pounding against my chest. When I reach Maureen, I pull Lily from her arms without a word. Lily instinctively wraps her arms around my neck.

"Rose, put Lily behind us" Zora says. I can feel Beck's panic, but I can't focus on it right now as I do what Zora says. "I'm sorry I didn't have time to explain better, but I need you to concentrate on protecting Lily. Picture a wall between us and everyone else," she says. I do what she says. I picture an impenetrable wall surrounding Lily and I.

I almost fall on my a** when a pink haze surrounds us until it solidifies into a solid wall. The sound of metal against metal startles me and I look at the ground near my feet. Several arrows that look like they've been dipped in green shimmery jelly lay on the ground outside the wall. "Mommy, I'm scared" Lily says.

Before I can answer her, I feel my energy fading. "It's alright my Rose. Lily is safe. Mindy and I

will explain everything when you wake up," Zora says, as darkness surrounds me. What the

hell is that annoying beeping? "Why the f**k didn't you tell us? If anything happens to Rosalyn or our pups, I will never forgive you." Who the hell is Beck screaming at, and why is he so angry?

I'm fine, just exhausted. I hear two loud growls before a voice I haven't heard in some time speaks. "Do not yell at my mate" Fallon growls. I try to force myself awake to figure out why the hell everyone is arguing. I don't want the people I love and care about arguing when I'm fine. Surely Mindy knows I'm alright. Despite my efforts, I'm still unable to force myself awake.

"It's alright Rose, just rest" Zora says.

"Beautiful, please wake up. I know Mindy says protecting Lily exhausted you because you're not used to using whatever powers you now have, but I need you to tell me you're alright. A knock on the door interrupts the moment and, despite calling out for whoever it is to enter, Beck doesn't release me. In fact, he slides in next to me, holding me close to his side. The pack doctor smiles when he sees I'm awake. "Luna, you gave us all quite a fright. All the tests we ran look fine, and Luna Mindy assured us that once you were awake you would be fine. I'd like to give you a once over before I release you even though I trust that Luna Mindy is correct." 

I nod and an hour later Beck is carrying me back to the pack house. I thought about arguing that I could walk, but after how afraid he was, I decided it was better to let him hold me close. Besides, I'll never complain about being in Beck's arms. When we reach the pack house, everyone is waiting in the large living room. Beck sets me on my feet and my mother is the first to pull me in for a hug. "Don't scare me like that baby girl."

"White wolves are known as the goddess's blessed children. Though white wolves are few in

number, they aren't as rare as red wolves. Red wolves are said to be representatives of the

goddess on earth. They hold many powers that are unlike any other gifts the goddess bestows on her children. There have only been five known red wolves in our history," she says. My heart feels like it's going to race out of my chest. Is she saying that Lily is a red wolf? "Lily

is the next red wolf. I know most people think that red wolves are special because they are

born to powerful wolves, but the truth is the goddess doesn't give two sh*ts about ranks when it comes to choosing those she deems are worthy," she says.

She knew you would do anything to protect Lily and teach her to be the person that could one day be her embodiment in human form," she says.

"Now, all red wolves have a guardian. I'm sure you remember me telling you that everything happened as it was meant to. Beck was always meant to be your mate, Rosalyn. I lean in pressing my lips against mine. Despite my threat, I would never choose that b**ch Jiselle over Jasmine. Jasmine is the perfect queen and, besides, I can f**k Jiselle anytime I want since she desperately wants to be queen. I've already told her she will only ever be my mistress, but I know she thinks if Jiselle is out of the picture I'll make her queen.

My consigliere has told me she has spoken to her maids about harming my queen. When I see her tonight I'll make sure she knows that the penalty for harming Jasmine is death. "Now my beautiful Queen, I need you to dress for dinner. My brother, his wife, and their children will be joining us for dinner." I can see worry flash in her eyes before she manages to school her

expression.

I run my finger down her cheek. "Jasmine, no harm will come to my nephew tonight. The only thing you need to do is be beautiful and charming during dinner." I lean forward, pressing a firm kiss on her lips. "I'll see you at dinner, my King" she says before scurrying off.
