Chapter 46
Chapter 46
Before the staff could explain, Celeste broke free from their grip and spoke first, “Mr. Miller, I’m the 17th
auditionee, Celeste. Please give me a chance to audition”
Zach looked her up and down, “Your information wasn’t on the resumes I received”
“My name is Celeste, I’m 25 years old, and I graduated from the University of F’s acting program in
2019.
“What works have you done?”
Celeste clenched her fists, her voice low, “None.”
“None” Zach was surprised, “Did you change careers after graduation?”
“No… Celeste hesitated before continuing, “Due to some personal reasons, I haven’t worked since
graduation and have only performed in a few campus plays.”
“So you have no acting experience”
Celeste didn’t say anything, taking it as a confirmation.
“If you haven’t been in the industry for three years since graduation, why do you want to start again
now?”
Telling someone like Zach, who’d seen it all, that it was because of a dream would be a joke. So
Celeste told the truth, “I need money.”
Zach looked at her in surprise.
Celeste continued, “I also need a job that can be recognized to prove my worth. Mr. Miller, I’m asking
you to give me a chance to audition and give the casting of this role another chance.”
Zach chuckled, “You’re young, but you’ve got quite the attitude. You don’t even have acting experience,
yet you’re so confident?”
Celeste shook her head, “I just trust Mr. Miller’s careful selection of roles.”
Before Zach could respond, there was a noise from the room. He went back inside, and a moment
later, he came out again. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
As the door closed, Celeste caught a glimpse of a tall figure inside the room.
“Alright, I’ll give you this chance. Give her the script,” Zach glanced at the time, “You have five minutes
to memorize lines and start your action. When you’re ready, we’ll start”
Celeste immediately focused and quickly went over the script.
The role they were competing for was the fourth female lead. The scene they had to audition was when
the heroine discovered that her best friend was the one who drugged her, and they turned against each
other.
Three pages of dialogue, with rapid emotional changes, were a real test of an actor’s skills.
The room was very quiet, with only the sound of her flipping through the pages. Two minutes later,
Celeste looked up and said, “I’m ready.”
Zach nodded, “Then let’s begin.”
Celeste looked up, and the previous calmness in her eyes completely disappeared, replaced by a weak
and helpless appearance. As soon as she spoke, everyone present was stunned.
Celeste’s performance was absolutely mind-blowing. The minute she started, she was fully emotionally
invested in the character. That fierce face of hers instantly turned into a pitiful and delicate one, with an
indescribably hurt expression. It seemed like everything she said was the truth, as if she was the one
being persecuted.
Zach’s expression turned serious, and he continued reading with his lips tightly pressed together.
Celeste’s handling of emotions was extremely meticulous. She was able to memorize all the lines in
just two minutes, Moreover, her command of the lines was impressive even without acting experience.
There was complete silence until the performance was over, no one spoke.
Although Celeste was confident in her abilities, she knew that it was difficult to handle each emotion
perfectly in such a short time. She did her best
Zach did not comment on her performance but whispered something to the person next to him. Then
he looked up at Celeste and said, “Try another scene.”
Celeste’s eyes lit up – there seemed to be hope. If they were dissatisfied, they would have asked her to
leave immediately.
Another script was handed to her. Celeste looked down to find that it was not the same character as
before, but the third female character in the play, a cunning and scheming woman who was good at
disguises.
However, hadn’t this role already been cast? Why would Zach have her audition for it?
Although she had questions, she didn’t ask any question. After memorizing the lines, she looked up
and said, “I am ready”
Zach nodded for her to begin.
Celeste adjusted her emotions, lifted her head, and without saying a word, a proud aura emerged.
After her performance, the room was as silent as a tomb.
After auditioning with two scenes, Celeste felt more confident.
“Why didn’t you pursue acting after graduation?” Zach finally asked, showing his curiosity
He needed to understand the background of the actress he was about to sign to avoid any unexpected
events affecting the production.
Celeste pondered for a few seconds and then spoke the truth: “Because I got married.”
Zach shocked, not expecting the reason to be mamage.
There was silence again. After a while, Zach said, “Leave your contact information. We’ll let you know if
there’s any news.”
As she left, Celeste’s heartbeat gradually returned to normal.
She appeared calm and composed in front of Zach, but in reality, she was very nervous.
Trisha had been waiting outside for her and ran over as soon as she saw her, “You were in there for so
long, I was extremely nervous!”
Celeste tightly held her hand and whispered, “Let’s talk outside.”
Once they were in the car and she heard everything that had happened, Trisha was flabbergasted.
“Oh my god, Zach actually had you audition for another role?”
Celeste shook her head, “I don’t know. How could they let me play such an important role? I thought
they had already chosen someone
for it.”
Trisfia closed the car window, “That might just have been a rumor. Besides, Zach is known for taking
chances on new actors.”
Despite what was said, Celeste still lacked confidence.
Trisha was brimming with confidence, “Did Zach say anything?”
Celeste shook her head, “He just took my phone number. Maybe it was just a whim to have me try”
Trisha said, “It would be great if you could seize this opportunity. Let’s go have a nice meal to
celebrate.”
Celeste said, “Isn’t it too early to celebrate?”
“Then let’s celebrate the fact that you’re about to get out of this awful marriage. Anyway, it’s a good
thing”
