Chapter 23 Here I Come!
Chapter 23 Here I Come!
She screamed out as he counted down the final number.
......
Time stopped abruptly at that moment.
Sam remained motionless.
She, too, did not dare to move.
Lacey was putting her life on the line.
She was betting on her chances.
She was betting on whether she could get out of this mess.
Lacey was well aware that she had earned a bad reputation. Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
People on the internet chastised her for her lack of self-respect, shamelessness, and mistress status.
Hence, yelling those words made it even more evident that she was a girl with no self-respect.
A few seconds later, Sam got up and glanced at her with a pair of gloomy eyes.
Lacey forced herself to look into those terrifying eyes of his.
Then, on the corner of her mouth, a faint smile arose. "Sam," she tried calling.
Sam's icy face turned grim. "Dream on." He said icily as his fingers abruptly grasped her chin.
Lacey noticed the disgust in his eyes, all but exposed.
She knew that at this point, she was safe.
"Am I not qualified?" She bit her lower lip and gave him a timid look.
"If I ever find out you're using tricks on me—" Sam sneered. His fingers, which had been gripping her
chin, began to wander over her face.
Lacey stiffened up instantly.
"You're doomed!"
Despite his faint smile, there was a chill in his eyes.
He then got to his feet.
Lacey remained silent. Her clenched fists betrayed her nervousness.
Sam's demeanor was downright scary.
"Respect your sister and cherish your position as the Carter family's second daughter. Don't play tricks.
Otherwise—" Sam gave her a warning glare before finishing his sentence.
After that, he opened the door and left.
The room fell silent all of a sudden.
Lacey, who was stiff all over, collapsed on the bed almost immediately.
She wished to seek revenge on Lillianna by robbing her of her valuable possessions.
But there was one thing that stopped her.
She was fearful of Sam from the bottom of her heart. How could she possibly continue this fight?
Two days later.
With the help of Alina and her family, Lacey buried Maria.
"Lacey, why don't you move in with me?" Alina was quite concerned about her.
"It's all right. They won't be able to harm me!" Lacey lifted a weary smile as she took Alina's hand.
"But I'm afraid Lillianna will take action against you. Your father didn't appear to be the type to let you
go either. Your nasty stepmother is likewise a pain to cope with. Are you sure you want to go? That
right there is a wolf's den!" Alina had an anxious expression on her face.
"So what if it's a wolf's den? My mother is no longer alive, and they can no longer threaten me.
Moreover, they're to blame for my mother's death! I'll seek her justice no matter what!" Lacey's eyes
glowed with wrath.
Alina exclaimed, "You can't win them!"
Lacey patted Alina's hand and said, "Silly girl, you have to remember that a beggar can never be
bankrupt. They are the ones who should be afraid!"
"But Lacey—" Alina was genuinely concerned.
"There, there, I promise I'll look after myself. I don't plan on being there for very long. Trust me, okay?"
She believed in Alina's sincerity, and she didn't want her to be worried.
"Then promise me that if you need anything, you'll call me as soon as possible." Alina was reluctant.
"Okay!" Lacey smiled and nodded.
She wasted no time after that, taking a taxi and heading straight to the villa district.
Bailey had taken the risk of inviting her to his house in the hopes of transforming her.
She'd do as he wished if that were what he wanted!
"Lillianna, my dear sister, here I come!"
