Please Come Back, Honey!

Chapter 199

Chapter 199

"Do you think that I'll be that easily bullied in my current state?" Emma smiled at Susanna and said.

"I think Crystal's bullying can be explained from a few aspects. Firstly, Trevor didn't love me at first, but now that he does, it's obvious that she has lost. Secondly, she loves making fun of my background, but now that I have the support of the Young Family, she was forced to apologize for her wrongdoings. Thirdly, she would probably ridicule me for my cheap outfit, but I'm confident the gown and necklace that I'm wearing would make her eat her words." This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.

After listening to Emma's analysis, Susanna was stunned.

"Emma, since when did you become that rational and confident?" Susanna mumbled.

"Attaining certain achievements in your career can indeed bring significant changes to a woman," Emma answered.

Emma was still kind and gentle, but she had become bold. When Crystal was rude to her, she could calmly fight back while maintaining her dignity and pride well. She felt that she was at her finest.

When the both of them reached the venue, Susanna was instantly surrounded by reporters who were taking pictures of her and trying to get an interview with the woman as she stepped out of the car. Emma, who was just a crew member, quietly slipped away and went to wait for Susanna in the banquet hall.

As expected, Crystal attended the gala with Zola. When Emma stepped into the banquet hall, both of

the ladies were chatting away with someone. Emma knew that after Crystal poached Zola to join her company, they started working on a historical drama which prompted Wesley to push forward the shooting of their drama.

Based on her understanding of Crystal and Zola, it was likely that their new historical drama was deliberately aimed to counter 'The Love Story of Imperial Consort Rose'. Although Zola might not be able to come up with a good script, if both dramas were to be released at the same time, they would inevitably be compared by viewers. The thought of it appalled Emma, but Crystal and Emma would find it amusing since they aimed to make things hard for the woman.

When both of them caught a glimpse of Emma and saw how stunning she looked, they gritted their teeth in anger. Emma was dressed in a simple and elegant black cheongsam that gave off an oriental vibe. Her appearance and gentle disposition were suited for the look.

Moreover, the jade necklace around her neck paired perfectly with her gown, making her look elegant and refined. Although Emma tried to be low-key, her presence had attracted the attention of most of the people there, especially the men.

"Why would President Bateson fall for such an ugly duckling like her?" Zola scoffed.

The video clip where Trevor was slapped after kissing a girl went viral online, and Zola could tell that the woman who slapped him was Emma. The moment when Zola saw the news, she was so shocked that she got up from the couch. She was extremely disappointed when Wesley admitted that Emma was his girlfriend, and she couldn't believe it when she found out that Trevor had fallen for Emma as well.

What kind of person was Trevor? He was a mysterious and unpredictable big shot in Jonestown's business world. Compared to an approachable idol star like Wesley, he was distant and unapproachable. It was almost impossible for normal people to stand next to Trevor, let alone slap him in the face. She couldn't fathom why Emma didn't care about him.

"She's really something. Wesley, who has never had a scandal, announced her as his girlfriend. She even managed to charm a big shot like President Bateson," Zola said.

Zola didn't reveal that she had feelings for Wesley, and Crystal didn't tell her that Emma was Trevor's ex-wife.

After listening to Zola's complaints, Crystal replied with a sneer, "Some women are so good at a certain aspect that they're able to make men fall head over heels for them. Isn't the big shot of your screenwriting industry infatuated by her as well?"

If Trevor overheard Crystal's comment toward Emma, he would have objected to it. The only time Emma was eager in bed was before they got divorced. Other than that, he was the one who initiated it, so he wouldn't agree that she was good in bed.

When she heard Crystal talking about Wilson, Zola was green with envy. Wilson and Eleanor were celebrated figures in the screenwriting industry, both of which were admired by all the screenwriters. It had been Zola's dream to work with Wilson.

When they were coming up with a draft screenplay based on Wilson's new book earlier on, she wanted to take part in it but was rejected by Wesley. He told her that Alpha Productions had decided to endorse Emma for the role, and since they were confident that she would succeed, they wouldn't consider anyone else to do it. His words implied that Zola wasn't good enough to do it, which infuriated

her to no end.

Both Crystal and Zola gave Emma a hostile glare when she noticed them, but she ignored them while she stood aside and waited for Susanna.

Just then, Trevor and Wilson walked in together, causing a stir at the venue. Since Wilson's new book was a best-seller, rumors had it that it would be adapted into a drama. Everyone was curious as to who would end up with the adaptation rights. Now that Wilson and Trevor attended the gala together, it was obvious that the Bateson Group had secured the adaptation rights.

When Wilson noticed Emma, he walked over and asked her softly, "Why are you here alone?"

"I'm waiting for Susanna," she replied.

Since Trevor was standing next to Wilson and his gaze was constantly on her, she raised her gaze before greeting him, "President Bateson."

Looking at how stunning she looked, he couldn't help but compliment her, saying, "You look stunning tonight."

That jade necklace looks really expensive. Did Wilson give it to her? he thought. However, the thought of it agitated him.

"Thank you," she replied impassively. Nonetheless, she was surprised to receive his compliment.

Hearing that, Wilson glanced at Trevor displeasedly and thought to himself, Isn't he stating the obvious?

Just as Wilson was about to speak to Emma, a veteran of the film industry walked over and greeted them. "President Bateson, Mr. Wilson, have you selected a screenwriter for the script?"

"This lady here is our screenwriter," said Wilson while introducing Emma to him.

However, the man didn't seem to recognize her, so Trevor added nonchalantly, "This is Winter, our screenwriter."

Emma could tell from that man's expression that he still couldn't figure out who she was. She then introduced herself again humbly, "I'm a student of Miss Dawson, and I have been writing scripts under her. I just became an independent screenwriter this year."
