CHILDISH
Layla couldn’t step out from her room throughout that night, she was weak. She couldn’t even move a finger.
She had tried getting up from her bed but couldn’t. Her whole body ached, she felt a splitting headache as well.
She also felt like her life was slowly slipping away.
Layla’s mind was consumed by fear, sadness, and confusion. She couldn’t eat, she couldn’t sleep, and she couldn’t think straight. She felt like she was losing herself, like she was being consumed by darkness. She knew she needed help, but she didn’t know where to turn. She felt like she was alone in the world, and she was sinking deeper and deeper into despair.
Throughout that night, Nolan didn’t bother to check up on her. She was without food and water.
And the next morning he just left without checking up on her.
She had expected him to come, but he didn’t. She never knew he was this heartless.
She wanted to call for help but couldn’t, her phone was probably in Nolan’s car. If not she would have called either Aurora or Xander for help.
They were the only ones she had and the only people who truly cared for her and could get her out of this mess. If only she could reach for her phone.
She felt helpless, her whole body was red and sore. She was broken.
She felt intense pains all over and she began to feel sharp pains in her stomach, she just hoped it wasn’t what she was thinking. She needed help.
She had to do something about it because she wasn’t even sure if she would last till afternoon.
She felt parched, she needed water, her stomach grumbled along with the sharp pains she kept feeling each passing second.

“Nolan, are you listening to me?” Xander asked, dropping the report he was holding on the table. He had been speaking to Nolan for quite a long time now but his mind was somewhere else.
He had been like that since he came to work this morning.
“Huh?” Nolan snapped out of his face as he stared at Xander.
“What’s on your mind?” Xander asked as he sat opposite.
“It seems as if your mind is somewhere else, you look lost..” Xander pointed out. It was unlike Nolan to look like this, something was definitely eating him up.
“It’s nothing, I’m fine. Go on with what you’re doing..” he motioned for him to continue.
Nolan felt restless, for some strange reasons, he had a very bad feeling within him.
And his wolf was very unstable, it was trying to tear out of him. He fought so hard to keep it at bay.
“I would have said you are sick but Lycans don’t fall sick, so what’s the problem?” Xander asked again.
“It’s nothing,” he insisted.
“If you say so” Xander shrugged his shoulders picking up the report again.
“By the way, why’s Layla not in her office? Bertha says she didn’t check in today..” Xander informed. Last night they just left all of a sudden and now Layla was not in work.
At the mention of Layla, Nolan felt his veins hardened, she was the reason for his restlessness, something was just not right.
“And why did you guys leave yesterday? You also didn’t pick up when I called” Xander grilled as Nolan suddenly stood up from the chair.
“Cancel all my appointments for today…” he instructed, grabbing his car keys.
“What!” Xander exclaimed as he stood up as well. What’s up with the sudden behavior?
“I’m leaving” he announced as he made his way out. He had to go home, he could feel it, Layla was in trouble.
“But…” Xander didn’t get to finish his statement as Nolan was already gone.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
On Nolan’s way out, he bumped into Carla who was supposedly coming to his place office.
“Hi Nolan…” she waved, smiling brightly at him.
“Get out of my way!” He grunted pushing her aside with force and the next minute he was gone.
Carla smacked her lips as she tried to steady her footing to prevent herself from falling.
What just happened? Nolan totally ignored her and even pushed her so hard. If it was a human, he or she would have fallen and broken his or her neck.
Xander who was standing at the doorpost tried too hard to contain his laughter.
“And what’s so funny about this?” She snapped, twisting her wrist which made a cracking noise.
“What happened to Nolan? Why is he acting that way?” She questioned curiously.
“Don’t ask me!” Xander snapped back at her. She couldn’t decipher why she was always here.
“What are you doing here Carla? Why haven’t you returned to the pack yet?” He asked. She was not supposed to be here but instead she was always all over Nolan.
“I came to see Nolan and I will return to the pack when he’s doing so. Do you have any problem with that?” She crossed her hands around her chest as she gave him a challenging look.
“Don’t sweat it Carla. Even if Nolan didn’t find his mate yet, I’m sure he would never have chosen you” Xander pointed out as he shook his head. She was so childish, running after a man who had his own mate, when she could easily find her.
“What did you just say?” He asked as she clenched her fists. She believed she was the right one for Nolan and no one else.
“I’m sure you heard me and please stop coming here. You’re not welcomed..” she uttered, walking out on her. She irritated him a lot with her nonsensical attitude. It irked him.
“Xander, come back here!” Carla yelled after him but he didn’t pay any attention to her.
Amongst all of Nolan’s friends, Xander was the one that was not cool with her. Right from the start, they’ve never been friends.
“Damn you!” She stomped her feet angrily on the ground as she left as well.
