Rejected Luna Queen

Chapter 64

Nolan’s POV

I walked down the dimly lit hallway, the afternoon sunlight filtering through the large windows casting long shadows on the walls.

The palace was unusually quiet, the usual bustle of activity reduced to a distant hurn. My thoughts were a turbulent mess, the events of the past few days weighing heavily on my mind.

As I passed by Nesta’s room, I felt an inexplicable pull. Something inside me urged me to stop, to enter the room and do… something.

1 hesitated for a moment, my hand hovering over the doorknob. What was I even hoping to find or do in there? I wasn’t sure, but the compulsion was too strong to ignore.

Taking a deep breath, I slowly pushed open the door and stepped inside.

The room was bathed in a warm, golden light from the afternoon sun, the soft furnishings and delicate decorations creating a stark contrast to the turmoil raging within me.

Nesta’s scent lingered in the air, a heady mix of lavender and something uniquely hers. It hit me like a punch to the gut, stirring emotions I couldn’t quite name.

Anger, desire, regret–they all swirled together, leaving me feeling more confused than ever.

I moved further into the room, my footsteps silent on the plush carpet. My eyes roamed over her belongings, each one a reminder of her presence, her essence.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

The bed was neatly made, the pillows fluffed just so, but there was a lingering warmth that told me she had been there recently.

I walked over to the window and looked out at the palace grounds below. My mind raced with thoughts of Nesta, of everything that had happened, and everything that still needed to be resolved.

The pull to be near her, to understand her, was overpowering, yet it was mingled with a deep–seated anger and confusion about our current situation.

For a moment, I just stood there, letting the quiet of the room wash over me. It was a fragile peace, one that could shatter at any moment.

But in that brief respite, I allowed myself to simply be in her space, to feel close to her in a way I hadn’t allowed myself before.

Eventually, I turned to leave, not wanting to overstay in her private sanctuary. As I reached the door, I paused, my hand once again on the doorknob.

I Glanced back at the room one last time, a silent promise forming in my mind. I would find a way to make things right, to understand the connection that drew me to her despite everything.

With that resolve, I stepped back into the hallway, the door clicking softly shut behind me. The journey ahead was uncertain, but for the first time in a long while, I felt a glimmer of determination taking root within me.

I hesitated outside Nesta’s door for a moment later evening, but the pull to go back was irresistible. Taking a deep breath, I turned around and pushed the door open.

Inside, I saw her sitting on the edge of the bed, her hand resting protectively on her belly. There was a small bump there- proof of the life growing inside her. She quickly moved her hand away and tried to cover it, her eyes widening in surprise as she saw me enter.

Something shapped inside me. All the anger, confusion, and longing I had been feeling culminated in that moment. I didn’t know what possessed me, but before I could second–guess myself, I crossed the room in a few quick strides.

“Nolan,” she whispered, a mixture of shock and confusion in her voice.

Without a word, I cupped her face in my hands and kissed her hard. The kiss was rough, desperate, a collision of all the emotions I couldn’t express in words. She stiffened for a moment, but then I felt her relax, her lips responding to mine.

My hands moved from her face to her hair, tangling in the soft strands as I deepened the kiss. I felt her hands press against my chest, not pushing me away, but holding me closer.

The world outside ceased to exist; there was only this moment, this connection between us.

The small bump of her belly brushed against me, a reminder of the reality we were facing. I pulled back slightly, my breathing heavy, and looked into her eyes.

They were filled with a myriad of emotions–confusion, fear, but also something else, something softer.

“Nolan,” she breathed again, her voice trembling.

I didn’t have the words to explain what I was feeling. All I knew was that I needed to be close to her, to feel her, to make sense of the chaos inside me. I leaned in, resting my forehead against hers, my hands still tangled in her hair.

“Why?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

“I don’t know,” I replied honestly. “But I couldn’t stay away.”

We stayed like that for a moment, our breaths mingling, the tension between us palpable. Then, slowly, I released her and stepped back, the reality of the situation crashing down on me.

This was more complicated than a single moment of passion. There were consequences, emotions, and a future we hadn’t yet faced.

“I’m sorry,” I said, my voice rough with emotion.

Nesta nodded, her eyes searching mine for answers I didn’t have. There was so much left unsaid, so many things we needed to figure out. But for now, this was enough. We had crossed a line, and there was no going back.

With one last look at her, I turned and left the room, the door closing softly behind me. I stormed out of Nesta’s room, my mind a whirlwind of emotions and thoughts. Dammit. What the hell did I just do?

Why would I kiss a healer? Why would I kiss her? Every fiber of my being screamed that it was a mistake, a moment of weakness that I couldn’t afford.

As I walked down the hallway, the weight of my actions settled heavily on my shoulders. This wasn’t just about a kiss. Nesta was a healer, a descendant of the Faes, and now, possibly the key to something much bigger.

The rogues had stopped attacking the kingdom. There hadn’t been any complaints or sightings of them for a while now. It was almost as if their aggression had been quelled.

I thought back to what my mother had said. Could she actually be right? Could Nesta’s presence be the reason for the sudden peace?

The realization hit me like a punch to the gut. If she was indeed a healer, she might be the only one alive, a rare and invaluable asset. And here I was, complicating things further with my impulsiveness.

I damned myself to hell for that kiss. It wasn’t just about the physical act. It was about what it represented–my inability to control my emotions, my failure to separate personal feelings from the bigger picture,

I had always prided myself on being in control, on putting the kingdom and its needs above everything else. But with Nesta, it was different. She was different.

The memory of her soft lips against mine, the way she responded to my touch, haunted me. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. She was supposed to be an asset, a tool for the kingdom’s peace.

Instead, she had become a source of turmoil, a reminder of everything I was failing to manage.

As I reached the end of the hallway, I paused, my mind racing. The rogues weren’t attacking anymore, and that couldn’t be a coincidence.

If Nesta truly was the reason behind the newfound peace, then my mother’s instincts were right. She needed to be here, protected and safe, even if it meant dealing with the complications of our personal history.

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my thoughts. There was so much at stake, so much riding on the decisions we made moving forward. I had to find a way to balance my duty to the kingdom with the confusing emotions swirling inside me.

But first, I needed to face the reality of what had happened. I couldn’t let a moment of weakness dictate our future. Nesta was more than just a healer; she was now intertwined with the kingdom’s fate.

And I had to ensure that my actions reflected that responsibility, no matter how much I struggled with my feelings for her. The fucking mating bond.
