Rejected Slave To The Alpha

Chapter 50

Chapter 50

Chapter 50 Chapter 50. Nelly’s POV.

| went to my wardrobe and opened it, searching through the clothes until | found what | was looking for. A small bottle, no bigger than my thumb.

| slipped it into my pocket and took a deep breath. | stepped out into the hallway and made my way to the dining room. The table was set with various food, and | took in the sight with a mixture of hunger and apprehension. | spotted a maid in the corner of the room and walked up to her.

“Who does this belong to?” | asked, motioning to the food. “Lady Emily,” the maid replied,

| stood there, my heart pounding in my chest, as | waited for her to enter the kitchen. When she did, | quickly took the bottle out of my pocket and poured the substance into her food. | mixed it in well, making sure it was thoroughly combined.

As the maid appeared, | tried to act natural, running my fingers through my hair and glancing around the room. | hoped | didn’t look as nervous as | felt.

She picked up the food and left the kitchen, and | let out a breath | didn’t realize | was holding. | served myself some food, trying to act as normal as possible. As | took my first bite, Alpha Kex entered the room.

His expression was unreadable, and | couldn’t tell what he was thinking. He pulled out a chair and sat down across from me, his eyes fixed on me. | did my best to focus on my food, but it was difficult to ignore the tension in the room. | swallowed hard, trying to keep my composure.

“I'm sorry,” | heard him say, but | kept my eyes on my food, determined to ignore him.

“Nelly,” he said, his voice insistent. | knew | couldn't avoid him any longer, so | reluctantly looked up. “For what?” | asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

“For speaking to you rudely,” he said, his eyes piercing into mine.

“Oh, | didn’t notice,” | replied, my voice sounding unconvincing, even to my ears,

“Nelly,” he said, his tone firm, “I'm serious.” His words made me drop my fork.

“When we're alone, you're nice to me,” | said, my voice soft but firm. “But when we're in

public, you're nothing but rude to me.”

“We both know that’s not true, Nelly,” he said, his tone dismissive.

“It's not a lie, Alpha Kex,” | insisted, feeling my frustration mounting. “You're only saying that because you would rather not admit the truth.”

“And what truth is that?” he asked, his voice rising.

| took a deep breath, steeling myself for what | was about to say. “You’re only nice to me when we're alone because you want something from me,” | said, my words hanging in the air between us.

He stared at me, his expression unreadable. “Is that what you really think?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous. “| know it’s the truth,” | replied, meeting his gaze head-on.

“| don’t know where you got that idea from,” he said, frustration evident in his voice. “I was only rude to you because | was angry, and | didn’t realize | took out on you.”

“But you didn’t take it out on Harry,” | countered, my tone firm.

“Why are you being so stubborn?” he asked, running a hand through his hair in exasperation. | am apologizing, what more do you want?” He asked.

“Whatever,” | said, rolling my eyes. He let out a deep sigh, and | could tell he was at the end of his rope. “| just found out that my late beta’s last wish was for me to marry Emily,” he said, his voice shaking.

| opened my mouth, but no words came out. “Are

you joking?” | finally managed to ask.

“| wouldn't joke about something like this,” he replied, his tone serious.

“How did you find out?” | asked, still trying to process what he had said.

“Emily told me,” he muttered, his

downcast.

| leaned back in my chair, my mind reeling. This was a lot to take in.

It all seems too fake to be real. Emily loves Alpha Kex and she would do anything to get him. Something isn’t right here.

| looked up and Alpha Kex’s gaze met mine, | could see the sadness and confusion in

his eyes.

“What are you going to do now?” | asked, my heart heavy with worry.

“| don’t know,” he replied, his voice laced with uncertainty. “I need to figure...” his voice trailed off, as a guard appeared. The guards leaned over and whispered something to him. He nodded, then turned back to me.

“Excuse me, Nelly,” he said, his voice flat. | nodded, and he stood up and left the room.

| sat there for a moment, trying to process everything that had just happened. | took a deep breath and got up to leave. As | walked down the hall, | realized that | needed to find out if Emily was really related to me first before | dwell on what Alpha Kex had just said.

| knocked on the door, but there was no answer. | gently pushed the door open and peeked inside. Emily was asleep, her chest rising and falling with each breath. | waved my hand in front of her face, but she didn’t even flinch. | smiled inwardly, the drugs. were already taking effect on her. | turned to her dresser and opened the drawers, hoping to find her diary.

| spotted the diary, sitting on the dresser, but it was locked. | saw a number of keys next to it, and | let out a sigh of relief. Maybe one of them would fit the diary! I tried the keys, one by one, but none of them worked. | started to feel frustrated. Where did she keep the key to the diary? | turned around, scanning the room for any clucs.

As | looked around the room, my eyes landed on the chain around Emily's neck. It was small and delicate, and | wondered if the key | needed was the one in the chain. | took a deep breath and carefully lifted her up, trying not to wake her.

“Ughhh,” she muttered, and | froze, my heart racing.

After a moment, she seemed to settle back into a deep sleep. | reached for the chain and unhooked it from around her neck. | removed the key from the chain.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

| held my breath as | used the key to unlock the diary. The pages were filled with neat handwriting, and | quickly flipped through them, looking for any mention of Emily’s family. Finally, | found what | was looking for.

| returned the key to the chain and put it back around Emily’s neck. My hands were shaking as | left the room, the diary tucked under my arm. | needed to find a quiet place to read it.
