Return of the Bad Boy Alpha Chapter 28
Naomi
I wake up in our new room. I slowly sit up and watch Magnus moving around, getting ready for his new job. I have been out of the hospital for about two weeks. Magnus has already been sworn in as the new royal Gamma, and I have been cleared to start work in the Royal Archives. We moved into the Gamma suite in the royal palace, and it is bigger than the house I grew up in. There are four bedrooms, a large living room, and a large kitchen. And each bedroom has a large bathroom.
"Good morning, babe," Magnus walks over, wearing only a towel. He leans down, and his wet hair hits my face as he kisses me.
"Morning," I grumble. He lingers for a moment, but then I feel bile rising and push him away and run to the bathroom. I reach the toilet just in time to hurl everything I have in my stomach. I groan and sit on the cold stone floor.
Magnus stands in the doorway, looking guilty. "I'm sorry," He steps toward me.
"For what?" I look up at him. I feel another wave and dry heave into the toilet. Tingles run through my body as Magnus holds my hair back. I want to push him away, but I can't resist the tingles. I slowly rise to my feet and stumble to the sink to rinse out my mouth. "I hope this crap doesn't last too long," I say while swigging mouthwash.
"The doctor said it may only be a few weeks," Magnus responds.
"Well, my mother said she had morning sickness with Elena and me for months," I snort.
"But the doctor-"
"What does a male doctor know?" I growl and brush past Magnus.
"He's a doctor, Naomi," Magnus argues.
I narrow my eyes at him and sit on the bed. "Yeah," I mumble.
"Will you be okay to have breakfast in the main dining room? Kerry and Moira want us to join them," Magnus asks.
“།
I guess," I sigh. "This shit usually passes," I respond. I had only been having morning sickness for a few days. I usually felt better after eating something. I stand up. "I have to take a shower first."
"Okay, babe," Magnus kisses my forehead.
I watch him for a moment. His tattoos are on full display, as well as his sculpted muscles. He catches me watching and smirks. "Are you watching me?"
I nod. "Yes, aren't I allowed to?"
"Of course," Magnus snorts.
I finally head into the bathroom and take a quick hot shower. My stomach is already feeling better when I emerge. After drying off, I go into the large closet, and Magnus is putting the final touches on his suit. It seems that some sentences in this chapter require you to read the complete chapters on in order to avoid an incomplete reading experience. He has his long hair in a ponytail while he adjusts his tie.
I can't help but smile at him. He smiles back and turns around. He pulls me into his arms and places a kiss on my lips. "I wish I could hold you all day like this," He chuckles and brushes his hand through my hair.
"We have to get to work," I sigh.
He kisses me again, "Damn jobs," He releases me.
I stare at my clothes, wondering what I should wear for my first day. Lars told me there is no dress code, but I hate to go in jeans and a t-shirt. I choose a plaid skirt and a white button-up shirt. I pull my hair into a ponytail and put on some light makeup. Magnus is leaning against the wall, watching me. "You look sexy, baby," He smiles.
I roll my eyes. "Just wait a few months, and I'll be huge," I point to my belly. It's still relatively flat, but it won't be for long.
"Oh, you will be even more beautiful to me," Magnus kisses me again.
"Seriously? You find pregnant women beautiful?" I snort.
"When the woman is pregnant with my pups, then yeah," He touches my belly. "I can't wait to meet them."
We linger in each other's arms for a moment before we head out of the suite. It's about a five minutes walk to the dining hall. It's a huge room with a long table for about twenty, and then there are several other smaller tables. Magnus greets the Royal Beta, Rocky Bedford, and his mate Mikayla. The other female eyes me. We haven't spoken much since Magnus was promoted, but she reminds me of Elena.
We walk over to our spot on the table and stand behind our chairs as we wait for King Kerry and Queen Moira. I have spoken to the queen a few times and have grown to like her. Magnus chats with the beta while I stare at the table for a moment. Everyone grows quiet when the royal family enters the room.
"Good morning, everyone," King Kerry says. "Sit down and eat your breakfast," He chuckles, and everyone takes their seats.
"Good morning, Naomi," Queen Moira greets me. "Are you excited for your first day at the Archive?" She asks.
I nod. "Yes, your majesty," I pause. "I mean Moira," I laugh. "It's hard to call you by your first name."
"It's okay," She laughs.
Food is placed in the middle of the tables as everyone digs in. Magnus piles a lot of stuff on his plate. My stomach feels queasy, and I choose only a few pieces of toast to nibble on. "Naomi, you have to eat more than that," Magnus says between bites of bacon and eggs.
I shake my head and wrinkle my nose. "I can't," I mumble as even the toast makes me feel sick. I feel the bile rising and push my chair back and run out of the dining room. I find the bathroom just in time. I empty my stomach and groan. "Fuck," I mumble. "Naomi," Moira calls into the bathroom. "Are you okay?"NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
"No," I groan and walk out of the stall. The queen looks me up and down. "I mean, I will be. But I don't feel like eating anything," I say and rinse my mouth out again.
"There is a tea that I drank when I was pregnant with Emery. It helped settle my stomach. Do you want to try that?" She touches my arm.
"I suppose. I will try anything," I say with a slight smile.
"I'll have the kitchen bring you some," She says and walks out of the bathroom.
I swish water in my mouth a few more times before leaving the bathroom. I walk slowly back to the dining room and sit beside Magnus. He gives me a sympathetic look as I lean against him. I need the comfort of our mate bond. "Are you okay, babe?" He says softly.
"No," I groan.
"Can you eat anything?" He asks.
I look at the food and feel queasy. Moments later, a female omega sets a fancy teapot and cup with honey and lemon in front of me. I glance at Moira.
"It's better with honey and a squirt of lemon," she explains.
I pour myself a cup, and the tea's scent smells nice enough. I add some honey and lemon and take a sip. The tea works almost instantly, and I feel more energetic, and my stomach settles. "Wow," I breathe out. "Is this tea or a potion?" Moira laughs. "A little of both. I can have some sent to your suite if you'd like?"
I nod. "Yes," I nearly shout. "Sorry." After sipping the tea, I am able to eat some toast and eggs.
"Come on, Magnus, Rocky," Kerry stands up.
Magnus kisses me. "I'll see you later, Naomi."
"Have a good day," I say to him.
"You too," He kisses me one more time before standing up and following the king out of the dining hall.
I eat a few more bites of breakfast before standing. Emery walks up to me. "Are you going to be helping me today, Emery?" I ask the prince.
"I have to go to school," He pouts and looks at his mother.
"He'll come help you later," Moira responds. "We can walk out together if you wish."
I nod, and Mikayla, the beta's mate, follows. She has a young son named Payton, who is walking next to Emery. "How are you today, Mikayla?" I ask.
"Hmph," She replies.
I shake my head and look away from her. I walk with the ladies and listen to the two boys chatting. Emery is telling Payton about dinosaurs. "What are your favorite dinosaurs?" I ask them. "Velociraptors," Emery replies.
"I like pterodactyls," Payton responds, flaps his arms, and screeches.
"Payton!" Mikayla barks at him. "Behave!" She looks at me. "Try not to encourage them."
I shrug. "I just asked them what their favorite dinosaurs were. They are little boys. They make noise."
Mikayla rolls her eyes. "I hope you aren't going to let your pups run wild. I heard about what Gamma Magnus was like when he was younger!"
"Oh, chill out, Mikayla," Moira snorts. "Naomi is right. The boys weren't doing anything."
Mikayla scoffs but says nothing else. We get outside, and a car is waiting to take the boys to school.
"Bye, Emery," I wave.
"Bye, Miss Naomi." He waves back and climbs into the car.
"Have a good day," I say to Moira but say nothing to Mikayla.
"You too, Naomi," Moira responds.
I walk towards the Archive and practically feel Mikayla glaring daggers at me. I try to ignore it. I don't want my first day dampened by her. I reach the Archive, and Lars sits in the front, sipping coffee. "Good morning, Lars," I greet him. "Naomi," He nods. "Welcome to your first day. Go on in. I'll be in soon," He holds up his coffee. "I have to finish this cup."
"Okay," I chuckle and walk into the building. I take in the scent of the hundreds of books, scrolls, and other media. I wander to the front desk, where a young woman with red hair is typing at a computer.
She looks up and smiles. "You must be Naomi. Uncle Lars told me you were starting today," She stands up and holds out a hand. "I am Leelee," She grins.
"It's nice to meet you, Leelee," I shake her hand. "I would have started sooner, but-"
"Oh, I heard, how awful. Are you doing okay? Are your pups alright?" She blurts out.
I chuckle nervously, "Yeah, they are okay," I respond. "I have been having morning sickness, though."
Leelee wrinkles her nose, "Oh, my sister had that with her pups. I don't look forward to that. Not that it's going to happen any time soon since I haven't met my mate yet," She frowns.
"You will," I try to sound reassuring.
"I'm nineteen, and I just don't know," She sighs.
"I'm twenty, and I just found out that Magnus was my mate a few months ago," I explain. "Granted, we grew up in the same pack, but he was away for a long time."
"That's cool," Leelee looks past me as Lars walks up. "Did you get enough coffee, Uncle Lars?" She asks.
"I never get enough, Leelee," He snorts. "Okay, Naomi. We'll start you off easy this morning," He grumbles and beckons me to follow him. We walk down the aisles for what feels like forever. We wind up at a desk in a far corner with tons of papers covering it. "Yikes," I breathe out.
"Yeah, I need you to sort the papers. The files are there," Lars points to several filing cabinets. "They are in alphabetical order. And there are extra folders there should you need them," He points to a box on the desk. "There pens and whatnot. Anyways, have fun," He smiles and walks away.
I take a deep breath, sit at the desk, and begin sorting the papers. They are primarily articles about the various packs in the kingdom. There are some papers about the latest triumph over the vampires. It doesn't take long for me to figure it out, and things are in sorted piles.
I have most of the papers put away an hour later when Leelee and another woman walk up. "Oh, wow, you got it done," Leelee laughs.
"That's amazing," The other woman, who is a bit older than us. "Lars always puts the newbies back here as a test, and no one ever got that far," she laughs.
"Oh, well, I ran the Archive back at Ghost River, so I guess it came easy to me," I stand up.
"Really? Wow," The other woman laughs. "I'm Rachel, by the way," She holds out her hand. "Naomi," I respond.
Lars walks up and eyes the desk. "You got it all done?"
I nod.
"Damn," He snorts. "Well, I guess we'll find you something else to do," He snorts again. "You two go back to sorting." Lars beckons me to follow him. I wave at Rachel and Leelee. "Are you feeling alright?" He asks me.
"I feel fine. Moira gave me some miracle tea, and I feel great," I laugh.
Lars nods, "I admire you, ladies, for going through that," He laughs. "My mate nearly killed me all three times with our pups."
"I can sympathize with her," I respond, and Lars eyes me. "Not that I want to kill my mate."
Lars leads me to another part of the Archive. It's another desk with what looks like film slides all over it. "How are you with slides?"
"I don't know," I shrug.
"Well, similar to the papers, these need to be sorted," He explains. "There is a magnifier and pens and stuff," He points to the desk. "Have fun," He pats my arm and walks away.
I take another deep breath and get to work. A few hours later, I am starting to feel hungry, and the scent of spaghetti makes my mouth water. I look up to see Magnus approaching me. Leelee is at the front desk staring at him, practically drooling. I smile and stand up. "What are you doing here?" I ask him.
He leans in and kisses me. "I just wanted to see if you wanted to go to lunch with me?"
"I have work to do," I gesture to the pile of slides.
"I realize that, babe," Magnus counters. "But you are also growing two pups and need nourishment."
Lars walks toward us and bows, "Hello Gamma, what can we do for you?"
"I am taking my mate to lunch," He tells Lars.
"Okay," Lars shrugs. "Have fun."
I sigh. "Okay, I guess," I concede and grab Magnus's arms. We walk by the desk, and Leelee looks at me wide-eyed.
Magnus's motorcycle is parked in front of the building. "Magnus," I whine.
"What? I haven't ridden Loretta in a while," He argues.
"But-"
"The pups will be fine," He laughs and kisses my forehead. "Come on, babe," He pulls me towards the motorcycle.
I reluctantly get on and hold onto my mate tight. He starts it, and we speed off. I close my eyes and bury my face in his back.
'He won't let anything happen to us,' Ruby speaks up.
'I still don't like this thing, I argue.
The motorcycle eventually stops, and I open my eyes. We are in the woods. "What?" I say as Magnus helps me off the cursed thing.
"I thought we would have a picnic," He smiles and leads me down a trail.
"When did you have time to set up a picnic?" I ask with a laugh.
"Oh, Kerry, suggested it and helped me plan it," Magnus shrugs.
I scoff, "Don't you guys have actual work to do."
"Yep," Magnus responds.
We reach a clearing, and there is a blanket spread out on the ground with a basket sitting on the blanket. Magnus leads me to the blanket, and we both sit down. He opens the basket and looks at me. "What would you like? I brought sandwiches and fruit." "What kind of sandwiches?" I ask.
"Turkey and ham," He holds up a sandwich wrapped in plastic.
I grab it from him and start to unwrap it. "Sorry, I am starving."
Magnus laughs and sets some packets of mayonnaise and mustard on the blanket next to me. He pulls out a sandwich for himself.
We eat mostly in silence, enjoying the sounds of nature. I eat two sandwiches and a bag of chips with some grapes. "Damn," I pat my belly. "Your pups were hungry," I laugh and lean back.
Magnus leans down and kisses my belly, "They sure were," He laughs. He lays his cheek on me. "How are my pups?" He talks to my stomach.
I giggle at the ticklish sensation. Magnus kisses his way up my belly and then to my lips. I press my hand to his cheek as we makeout. I let out a moan and feel myself getting aroused. Ruby hum happily in my head. I pull back from Magnus. "We should stop," I mumble.
Magnus lets out a whimper. "Sorry," He sits down. "You are right," He huffs.
I sip on some water. "We can have sex later at home. I just don't want to do it here," I sigh.
"No, it's okay, babe," He stands up. "We should get back to work anyways," He holds his hand out to me and pulls me to my feet.
I feel a little guilty as we walk back towards the motorcycle. I grab Magnus's hand and pull him toward me. I plant a hot kiss on his lips, and he wraps his arms around me. He presses me against a tree and moans. I pull back from his lips and take a breath. We look into each other's eyes. He starts to unbutton my shirt and then pauses.
His eyes glaze over, and he backs away from me. "Shit," He grumbles. "We have to get back," He sighs and grabs my hand.
"Is everything alright?" I ask.
Magnus says nothing, and we get on the motorcycle. I wrap my arms around his waist and bury my face in his back as he starts the bike and speeds off. I can sense something is wrong, but he isn't saying anything. The motorcycle stops in front of the Archive, and I get off the bike.
"We are having some issues on the northern border," Magnus says. "I may be late getting home."
I kiss his lips. "Be careful, please," I say to him.
"I love you," He whispers, and we kiss one more time.
I pull back and watch him drive off. I have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach as I walk back into the Archive back to my sorting job, hoping that Magnus will be alright.
