Chapter 995
Two women were chatting away, giving Odie a serious headache.
He rubbed his temples and threw up his hands in defeat. "Alright, alright, I'll stop arguing. Let me check the device first."
With that, Odie walked over to a machine that had already been unboxed. After fiddling with it for a bit, he said, "The device is legit."
"Authentic?"
"Yeah."
Odie let out a cold chuckle and stood up, asking, "Where did you get this machine from?"
Sophie's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "What are you up to?"
"What do you think? I want to know who's behind all this."
At that, Sophie let out a sigh of relief.
Seeing her reaction, Odie was irked. "Sophie, what did you think I was going to do? Kill someone?"
"Mr. Odie, you've got quite the body count. I'd be surprised if you haven't lost count. Is it so strange for me to think you might kill again?"
"You..."
Odie pointed at Sophie, too frustrated to speak, his chest tightening with anger. "I can't be bothered to argue with you!"
"Are you done checking? When can we start the cosmetic procedure? I'm getting tired!" Sandy grumbled, furrowing her brows.
Sophie glanced at the little tyrant beside her and said, "Mr. Odie, isn't your cosmetic company all the rage? How about taking Ms. Sandy for a treatment?" "Him? No way! I'd rather die than go!"
Sandy was dead set against spending any time alone with Odie. After the Vanessa incident, she'd had more than enough of him.
Odie, too, had no desire to look at Sandy any longer than necessary. Impatiently, he said, "Sophie, do you have too much time on your hands?"
"Mr. Odie, don't rush. Didn't you just ask me where these machines came from?"NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Sophie tapped on the logo of the Victoria Cosmetic Company on the box. "From here."
Odie quickly connected the dots to a
few days ago when Sophie had gone to a beauty salon under the Minton's banner for a cosmetic treatment. "You went for a cosmetic procedure just for this?"
"What else? Did you think I really went to your scam company for beauty treatments?"
"What do you mean 'scam company'?"
"Didn't you just call our Devonport a backwater? Now we're even."
Odie rubbed his temples again. "I must be out of my mind to argue with you here."
"Mr. Odie, I know where and what they'll be shipping next. Interested in teaming up?"
"How?"
"I've ordered a batch of goods to be delivered at the East Dock in three days. I can't show up personally, so I was hoping Mr. Odie could help trap them."
"So, you've seen the people shipping the goods?"
Sophie nodded. "Yes, I have."
"Then why didn't you bring them to me directly?"
Odie said coldly, "If you bring them to me, I have ways to make them talk!"
"If I catch the delivery people now, how will we nab the big fish? They're probably just small fry, doing the grunt work. This time, I'm not after beauty devices; I'm after those gambling machines, in large quantities. I'm betting we can catch their boss too."
Odie frowned, thinking it over for a while.
Sophie urged, "So, can you do it? If not, I'll find someone else to help."
