Chapter 212 Jealous (1)

Christian nodded, his pallor and disheveled appearance not diminishing his gentle smile as he lookert at Nancy. “Yes, it’s me. So, they kidnapped you? How are you feeling? His voice carned concern and

urgency.

I’m fine. Really good now,” she responded promptly, her worry evident as her gaze shifted to him “Are you hurt? You look pale.”

“It’s just a small wound. Don’t worry,” he reassured her with a smile.

However, the officer beside him muttered, “Small wound? Sir, that’s a gunshot wound, and you’re not looking so good.”

“You talk too much,” Christian chided the officer, his eyes fixed on him.

Nancy approached, her concern evident as she asked, “Where are you hurt? Let me see.”

“It’s alright. I’ll go to the hospital and have it bandaged,” Christian said.

“I’m a doctor, remember? I’ll check your wound,” she asserted, turning to the arriving team. “Does anyone have a medical kit?”

“We have one, Ms. Nancy.” Justin stated. He was among the individuals who had arrived to assist Nicholas. As Nicholas’ other assistant, Nancy hadn’t interacted with him much, but she had seen him on a few occasions. Lynn typically handled daily tasks, while Justin was responsible for security. He had a reputation as a skilled fighter, or so Nancy had heard.

“Good. Get one for me, please.”

Justin promptly handed her the medical kit. However, upon his return, he felt an icy stare fixed on him, following him wherever he moved. The atmosphere grew chilly, and he warily glanced at Nicholas. “Did I do something wrong, Mr. Sallow? I gave it to her because she needed it.”

“You weren’t that proactive when I got shot,” Nicholas remarked,

Justin said nothing, but his thoughts raced. Oh no. I did something stupid. Mr. Sallow is mad, and as for the reason… He looked at Nancy, thinking, Mr. Sallow was jealous again. Ugh, why did I do that? He scolded himself internally, careful not to voice his thoughts in front of Nicholas. Initially unaware of the couple’s divorce, Justin had since referred to her as “Ms. Nancy.”

“Where are you hurt? Lie on the gurney, and let me see it. She opened up the medical kit and looked at Christian.

As she expressed her serious intent, he complied and reclined while pointing at the side of his thigh. She immediately went around to his side. Concern washed over her as she noticed blood seeping through his pants. She contemplated the situation and then said, “I’ll cut the fabric open to assess the

wound.”

Christian nodded. Gently, he said, “Yes, I’m counting on you.”

Nancy held up a pair of scissors and proceeded to cut through the fabric.

The morning sunlight filtered through the woods, creating a mottled effect. Some of it illuminated the ground around her. while the rest bathed her in a soft, enchanting glow.

Nicholas watched her attentively, his heart swelling with love. However, a sense of jealousy welled up within him as he observed how seriously she was tending to Christian.

The fabric was cut open, revealing the wound on Christian’s leg, which left Nancy gasping. “How did this happen?” Her brow furrowed as she observed the injury. “It doesn’t look like a new wound. Is there an old wound mixed in?” Since she knew he wouldn’t tell her the truth, she asked the people around

him.

The officer answered, “Good eye, Ms. Cohen. His leg was injured in his last mission. Someone stabbed him with something sharp. And we weren’t in the best environment, so the wound got infected. It was a serious infection, and he refused to rest, so he never fully healed. And he got shot earlier while saving one of us.”

Touched by the revelation, she felt a surge of emotions, her heart skipping a beat. Tears welled in her eyes, but after a moment, she composed herself. “I’m not surprised.”

“How are you not surprised, Ms. Cohen? Do you know our captain?” the officer asked, surprised.

Nancy looked down. Quietly, she said, “Because from what I know, your captain is a kind man. He’d charge into danger if it meant he could save someone.”

“You know him well, Ms. Cohen.”

“I don’t know him a lot, but he did save me a few times.”

“I see. So, you have a past with him. So, are you still single? Why don’t you consider dat-

Before the officer could finish, Nicholas coughed violently, causing Nancy’s heart to squeeze with worry. However, she was still in the middle of treating Christian, and she couldn’t pause immediately.

“Christian, your infection is serious. I need to disinfect it and stop your bleeding. I’m not skilled enough to remove the bullet; we’ll have to get you to the hospital for that. The disinfection. may be painful, so

please bear with me. Let me know if it becomes too much.” Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

“Sure,” he replied.

Nicholas, on the other hand, was left speechless. He watched as Nancy dedicated all her attention to Christian, seemingly ignoring his coughing. This made him feel miffed and somewhat depressed. He coughed a few more times, but Nancy remained focused on Christian.

Only after she had treated Christian’s wound and bandaged it did she finally look up and smile. “Done, Christian.”

“Yeah, thanks.” Christian smiled as well.

The sun shone on them, and they exchanged gentle smiles. It could have been a picturesque scene if it were just the two of them standing together.

However, Nicholas saw it differently; he found it to be an eyesore. To divert attention, he clutched his wound and exclaimed, “Ow, it hurts.”
