Chapter 111
Chapter 111
Susan thought Caridee was just another fan, so she was about to shut the door.
Seeing that, Caridee promptly stuffed her foot between the door and the frame and said awkwardly, “I'm not your fan. I'm here for Bailey. May I ask who you are to her?”
Before the girl could answer, Maxton's surprised voice could be heard. “What are you doing here, Aunt Caridee?”
Aunt Caridee? Susan scrunched up her face. She's the unruly and willful brat who disregarded Mommy's genuine effort?
“Ah, so you're Ms. Caridee. You're quite the VIP, but unfortunately, our family doesn't welcome you. Please turn around and leave right away. Bye.”
“Don't chase her away!” Zayron quickly said. “We should treat members of the Luther family well if they're visiting. Hado, go and lick her!”
Caridee narrowed her eyes as she gazed at the children in front of her. Why do I feel that the three of them look a little like Artemis?
Woof! Woof!
Hado's bark pulled her out of her thoughts.
She shook her head, trying to ignore the bold and scary idea that popped into her mind. Both of them are Simon's children, after all. It's not weird at all for them to resemble Artemis.
“I-I'm here to apologize to Bailey. Please don't make the dog bite me.”
A frown was visible on Zayron's face as he stopped Hado from advancing. “Are you sure you're here to apologize and not to argue? You'd better not fool me. Otherwise, I'll make Hado destroy your innocence.”
“J-Just ask your mother to come out. I'll apologize in front of her.”
“Susan, go call Bailey.”
“Okay.”
Moments later, Bailey exited her bedroom with a face mask on. When she saw the person standing at the entrance, she raised her eyebrow and snorted. “Ah, so it's the pure and elegant Ms. Caridee who's visiting me. I'm sorry, my place is probably too shabby to accommodate someone as high class as you. Please turn around and leave. Bye.”
Caridee pursed her lips and stood silently for a few seconds. Suddenly, she got to her knees.
Shocked, the children quickly ran away.
After all, Caridee was still their elder. If they accepted her gesture, they might receive divine punishment.
A look of surprise flashed past Bailey's eyes.
She didn't expect the willful and prideful Caridee to kneel before her. “What are you doing?”
“I was wrong. I shouldn't have mistreated you. Artemis said you designed my gown with sincerity, yet I listened to someone else's words and caused you so much trouble. Since I've made a terrible mistake, I should apologize on my knees.”
Looking at the stubborn expression on Caridee's beautiful face, Bailey couldn't help but sigh in her heart.
Having experienced so many things, Bailey was no longer the shallow and immature young woman she once was. There was no reason for her to hold a grudge against a brat who wasn't even an adult yet. “Stand up. I only said those things to your mother out of spite. That design was always meant for you. If
you don't want to use it, the blueprint will just be a piece of useless paper.”
“R-Really?” Caridee looked at her with joy. “Does that mean you've forgiven me?”
Bailey stepped forward and helped her up. “There's no reason for me to hold a grudge against you when you're not the real perpetrator. That blueprint is probably still in your mother's hand. What you should think about isn't whether I would agree to let you use that design. Instead, you should be wondering if your mother would let you wear that gown.”
That stunned Caridee for a moment before she realized what the other woman meant. “My mother has always been stubborn. She'll never allow anyone to slight her. The reason she hates you so much is probably that she doesn't see any good in you. Once you marry Simon—”
“If there's nothing else, Ms. Caridee, you should return home now. It's getting late, and it's not safe on the road.”
Caridee stared at Bailey for a while and understood something. “I believe you're not a gold digger and that you didn't fake that paternity test results to fool my uncle and aunt to climb up the social ladder. If I was only showing thirty percent of my sincerity when I was on my knees earlier, then now I'm using one hundred percent of it to tell you I was wrong to misunderstand you.”
In the living room of the Luther residence, the rage was written all over Glen's wrinkly face as he bellowed, “Nonsense! That woman gave birth to a daughter and son for Simon! How can you all ignore that and pretend it didn't happen?”
He liked Bailey.
Since marriage between her and Edmund or Artemis wasn't going to happen, he was planning to force Simon to marry her instead.
Felicity grimaced. She had been trying to convince Glen to change his mind for the past half an hour, but the old man was stubborn. None of what she said made it into his ears at all.
“Simon is your precious grandson, Father. How can you throw him into the fire like that? Bailey is an indecent woman who doesn't deserve my son! You're saying this because you haven't seen the little demons she raised! They're so naughty that they made fun of me! They don't deserve to be a part of the Luther family.”
Glen slammed his cane on the ground three times forcefully and roared, “You're so ignorant! Even though you've been the lady of the Luther family for thirty years, your eye for people is worse than Edmund's! You're truly a failure. Call Gerald right now and get him to come back! I'll talk to him.”
There was a hint of embarrassment on Felicity's face.
How could she not feel ashamed for being reprimanded by her father in front of the younger generation of her family and relatives?
“Father, don't forget that you're only someone from my family. You have no say in what happens in the Luther family. In any case, I'm making it clear to you tonight that I won't allow Ed, Artemis, or Simon to marry that woman. If she marries into the Luther family or the Chivers family, I'll make sure to give her hell.” Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
“You...” The old man began to shake as he struggled to speak.
“Are you all right, Granddad?” Artemis promptly stood up and gently patted Glen's back. “Calm down, or you'll hurt yourself.”
“Y-Your mother, she's a rebellious daughter!” The moment Glen finished speaking, his eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
“Granddad!”
“Father!”
Lots of people were standing outside the infirmary.
When the door to the emergency room opened, Justin walked out.
Artemis rushed toward him and asked in a panic, “How's Old Mr. Chivers?”
Rubbing the space between his eyebrows, Justin replied tiredly, “The tumor growing in the back of his head is spreading. I'm afraid it may develop into brain cancer if the situation worsens.”
Everyone's expression changed when they heard that.
Yoel swiftly rushed forward and grabbed Justin's arm. “We've been using the world's most advanced anti-cancer drugs to suppress the growth of the tumor. How is it still worsening?”
