Chapter 53 Let Her Hate Me

Amanda went back to the firm in a hurry because her deadbeat father had gone there, and he was causing a ruckus. What an embarrassment.

She stormed into the office. When Helean saw her, he stood up and approached her. “That old git’s your father? Damn, he’s bossy. Came and straight up told you to see him, or he wouldn’t

leave.”

“I know. I’ll handle this, Amanda was in no mood for small talk. She walked into her office and closed the door, then she hung a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door. She saw Dick sitting in her chair and rummaging through her drawers. “Don’t touch my stuff! Get out. Now!” Fury flared in her heart. She couldn’t believe the b*stard was brazen enough to come, not after that kidnapping

incident.

Dick stood up. “Don’t talk to me like that. I’m your father.”

“You don’t get to call yourself that, you scum. You tried to kidnap your own daughter, you piece of sh*t.” Amanda didn’t want to see this worm at all. It nauseated her.

Dick sneered. “I’m the one asking questions here. Why did you divorce Elias? After he busted you out, he took back all the money. The b*stards took Tanya and my son away. Of course, I’m here. You need to take responsibility for this.”

“Not my problem, honestly.”

“You’re going to leave them for dead? Please, I beg you. Just give me some money. I promise I won’t gamble again. I won’t come for you again, I swear. I’ll live my life with my family in peace.” He went on

his knees and put on a pitiful look. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

I don’t trust gamblers, especially deadbeats who’d throw away their dignity at the drop of a hat. “I don’t have any money, and even if I did, I wouldn’t give it to you. Now scram and don’t ever let me see you again.” She’d love to tear her father limb from limb. There was no way she would give him.

money.

“Then ask Elias for some money. I think he still loves you. Just ask him for some, will you? You have his son. He will help you.” Dick grabbed Amanda’s hand.

Amanda’s eyes went wide with disbelief, and she turned to look at Dick. “Who told you I had his son?” She was panicking. He knows of Aiden’s existence?

“I saw it with my own eyes. Those people tailed you the whole morning before they took you. I saw you going into a neighborhood with a boy in your arms. He’s your and Elias’ son, isn’t he? Please, I beg you, ask for some money from him. He’ll help. For his son, I know he will.”

Amanda wanted to scream. After she came back, she had kept her son’s existence a secret as best as she could, but Dick still found out. She denied. “That’s not his son. I never had his son.”

“Lies. That boy was only three years old or so. The timeline fits. I know you. You’d never betray

Elias, so that must be his son.” Dick was sure about it. The timeline was right and Amanda would never cheat on Elias, so that son must be Elias’

“I said he’s not Elias’ son” Amanda refused to waste any more time on this.

Dick stood up. “Fine. I’ll see him myself. When I tell him about his son, I bet he’ll help me out.”

“Hold it right there!” Amanda shouted.

Dick turned around, wondering why Amanda was so agitated. “Why are you stopping me? And why the overreaction? Oh, he doesn’t know about the boy, does he? You gave birth to him in

secret!”

“I did not!”

“Fine. I’m telling him, then.”

Annoyed beyond toleration, Amanda snapped, “Fine, I’ll give you money. Now stop harassing me or Elias’ family. I don’t want to lose what remains of my dignity. I’m divorced, and I have no right asking them for help.”

Oh, finally. Dick grinned. “Of course. Your dignity is worth much more than those b”stards. You should’ve just given me money from the start. You think I like talking to those people?”

There was nothing but exasperation in Amanda’s eyes. She really wished that her father would disappear from this world.

After she sent her deadbeat father off, Amanda plopped down on her chair, spacing out. Her mind was a mess. She was sure Dick would keep coming back for more money. I have to finish my cases, take Aiden, and move abroad. That’s for the best. Her phone rang, and Amanda took a look. It was from Elias. “Yes?”

“Grandpa thought you would want more food, since you barely ate anything. The driver has given. the lunch box to the receptionist. Don’t forget to take it.”

Exhausted, Amanda closed her eyes. “Tell him I said thanks.”

“Sure.”

He was going to hang up, but Amanda suddenly asked, “Did you really cut ties with her? Grace, I

mean.

“Yes.”

Amanda smirked. “Cruel and heartless as they say. You cut me off four years ago, and now you’re doing the same thing to someone else. I wonder if you’ll be loyal to any woman. Or do you see women as nothing but trash you can toss away anytime you want?”

Elias was silent for a few moments. “I never loved her. I took responsibility because I owe her. That’s all

What does he owe her? “What do you owe her? You’ve done a lot, so it must be huge.” She wondered. about it.

“I owe her my life.”

That’s heavy. What happened between them must be huge. “Can you ever repay what you owe her?”

“Unless I sacrifice my own life, no,” said Elias, sounding dejected.

Amanda calmed down. She asked again, “What will you do?” She regretted asking that, seeing as it was none of her business.

Elias chortled. “I’ll take all of her hatred if that’s what she wants.”
