Chapter 12 Alexander's Arrangements
When they got back to school after dinner, Alexander couldn't help but dish out some advice, especially to his niece, who was always stirring up trouble.
He offered, "Behave yourself and stop causing trouble, or I won't bail you out next time! Just wait till your parents hear about this!"
Mia nodded, looking all innocent and well-behaved. "Don't worry, Uncle. I'll be good and stay out of trouble. Plus, Allison's got my back."
Alexander shot Allison a meaningful look before letting James drive off.
As Allison and Mia walked back to the classroom, they heard the news that Ava had been expelled.
"Sophia, weren't you and Ava tight? Why'd she get expelled? Did she really tick off some big shot like the rumors say?" Just then, the big shot they were talking about walked into the classroom. The girls started whispering, "Didn't you say Allison was gonna get expelled? Why's Ava the one getting the boot?"
"How should I know? I wasn't there. Who knows what went down." Sophia had no clue what happened, but she was sure it had something to do with Allison. She glanced at Allison and her little sidekick, Mia. Could these two have some hidden connections? But that was impossible. Didn't Mia say her family just runs a restaurant? How could that be a big deal?
Mia didn't care about the gossip. She went back to her seat and quickly piled a bunch of stuff on Allison's desk.
"Allison, these are all for you. My favorite snacks, toys, and cosmetics. They're all yours!" Mia, who had never gone without, showed her affection by sharing her favorite things.
Allison looked at the colorful pile on her desk, feeling a bit overwhelmed. "I don't need them. You keep them."
Allison wasn't into material things. She never cared much about money and only spent what she needed. So she didn't get Mia's girlish gestures at all.
"I already said they're for you. How can I take them back? Don't worry, what's mine is yours!" With that, Mia happily walked away, leaving Allison no choice but to pack the stuff into her bag.
After evening study, Allison was about to head home when Mia ran over again. "Let's go home together!"
She warmly linked arms with Allison, and Allison, who wasn't great at saying no, couldn't refuse. As they walked out to the school gate, the familiar car was already parked.
"Your family's here to pick you up. You should go," Allison urged, finally feeling a bit of relief.
But Mia wasn't having it. She went straight to the car window and saw Alexander driving, which made her a bit nervous. "Uncle, can you take Allison home?"
Alexander didn't say anything, just nodded slightly, and Mia pulled Allison into the car.
On the way, Mia kept whispering to Allison. Alexander could see that Allison wasn't the outgoing type, but she was polite. No matter how much Mia pestered her, as long as it didn't cross her line, she went along with it. Alexander noticed her patience. For an eighteen-year-old to be so used to enduring, it made him feel a bit sad for her.
Alexander dropped Mia off first. Before leaving, Mia gave him a long list of instructions, "Uncle, make sure you take Allison home safely. It's not safe for a girl to be out alone at night. Promise me you'll get her home safe!" Mia's bossy manner made Allison smile.
Allison could see that Mia meant well. She was a kind girl, and her family must have done a good job protecting her to raise her like this.
On the way to the Bennett Villa, Allison thought for a moment and then spoke, "Mr. Carter, what do you want from me? Is it just about joining the Carter Group?"
Allison was always straight to the point.
Alexander pulled over to the side of the road and turned to look at her. "Do you remember the day you saved me?"
Allison nodded. Of course, she remembered. She also knew those guys were mercenaries.
"Some of them remembered your face. You might be in danger," Alexander said as he tried to gauge her reaction, but he was disappointed. Allison's expression stayed calm, no hint of fear. "So, Mr. Carter, are you saying these people will come after me for revenge?" Allison asked.
Alexander nodded. "If you face danger because of me, I'd feel guilty. So until the threat is gone, I'll find a way to protect you."
Allison didn't show any fear, surprise, or emotion. She just looked at Alexander calmly, saying, "Then please, Mr. Carter, take me to the Sunshine Hotel."
Allison thought Alexander would leave after dropping her off at the hotel, but he followed her into the lobby, which puzzled her. "Mr. Carter, what are you doing?" she asked. "Don't worry, I'm just seeing you to your room," Alexander said.
Was he really just seeing her to her room? Wouldn't this cause some misunderstanding?
Allison frowned, clearly displeased, but she didn't refuse and headed to the elevator.
She was only temporarily staying at the hotel, with very simple luggage, as she had come back just to see Hayden and hadn't planned to stay in Skycrest.
So Allison was staying in the most basic standard room, the kind you could see the end of with one glance.
But Alexander frowned at the small room and poor environment. Even without the mercenaries, as an eighteen-year-old girl, her safety couldn't be guaranteed.

Allison was bold to stay in a hotel alone, which made Alexander's impression of the Bennett Family even worse.
"Don't unpack your things. Take everything and come downstairs. I'll arrange a new place for you," Alexander said firmly, making Allison feel resistant.
"Mr. Carter, we don't seem to be that close."
Alexander squinted at her and said, "We went through life and death together. You're Mia's friend and someone I care about. Ms. Bennett, if that's not close enough, then what is?"
Life and death were forced, becoming Mia's friend was a coincidence, and being someone Alexander cared about seemed absurd to Allison.
Alexander explained, "Ms. Bennett, I'm not a beast with any improper intentions towards an eighteen-year-old girl. I can tell you clearly, those people won't let me go, and they won't let you go either! If something happens to you, I will feel guilty and won't be able to explain to your family!"
Allison took a deep breath. Although she felt something was off, she eventually compromised and followed Alexander downstairs.
Seeing Allison nod, Alexander finally breathed a sigh of relief. Getting along with her was not easy.
The apartment was Alexander's property in Skycrest, located in Oceanview Apartments, not far from Allison's school. From the gated entrance to the entire environment, it was clearly a high-end community.
"This is my property, mostly vacant. You can stay here safely. The security is very good," Alexander said.
Allison nodded, and she could see that.novelbin
Suddenly, she inquired, "Mr. Carter, you won't be staying here, right?"
Alexander said without hesitation, "Of course not."
Alright, Allison was completely satisfied with that.
