The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 213 Difficulties

"Here's your coffee," Bryan said, handing Emily a steaming cup.

He'd been watching her closely, noticing the subtle changes in her expression. Even though she had retouched her makeup, he could still see the faint traces of tears on her cheeks.

"Thanks," Emily muttered, staring blankly at the coffee on the table.

Bryan was pretty sure something had happened to her earlier.

Out of respect for Michael, Bryan decided to shoot him a quick message: [Alice wanted to talk jewelry with Emily today, so I invited them over. I also needed to discuss some business with Emily. She might not be answering calls because of this.]

After sending the message, Bryan put his phone down and saw Emily still lost in thought. He couldn't help but ask, "You seem off today. What's going on?"

Emily was startled and touched her cheek, asking helplessly, "Is it that obvious?"

Bryan nodded. "Michael called me earlier. He said he's tried calling you a bunch of times, and Veda too. Plus, you look pretty down."

Emily finally realized her phone was still on Do Not Disturb mode. She'd been so mad at Hayden that she was shaking, almost breaking down. While calming down at the hospital, she had turned her phone to Do Not Disturb mode and missed any calls.

"It's okay, I'll call him back after we're done talking," Emily said.

Bryan nodded again. He thought for a moment and then tried to comfort her. "I get that you might not want to talk about it, and I don't want to make things worse. But if you need anything, just let me know. I'll do what I can to help." Emily was surprised and grateful. She knew Bryan was probably helping out of respect for Michael, but she didn't want to rely on Michael's influence.

"Thanks, Bryan. But my issues... they're just family stuff. It's hard to explain that kind of pain."

Bryan took a sip of his coffee and forced a light laugh. "Is it any different? My parents have been fighting over property division lately. I'm used to it."

Emily looked into Bryan's eyes and saw the pain from his parents' separation, even though he tried to brush it off with a smile. Everyone said he was a golden child, but it had been over two months since Penelope and Richard started their divorce, and they were still arguing, making the Watson family a mess. Bryan was caught in the middle every day; he must be hurting too.

Bryan added, "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it. We can focus on today's main topic, the recruitment for JM Jewelry Company. You probably heard from my mom that she brought in new technology from abroad and wants to expand JM Jewelry Company overseas. Honestly, abroad is where my mom can really shine, and it looks like she's doing great."

As Bryan spoke, the light in his eyes dimmed a bit.

Emily hesitated, holding her coffee cup, lost in thought. Richard was planning to settle abroad, and Penelope was making strides overseas. So, in the future, would the Watson family only have Mabel and Bryan left to rely on each other? Sure, both parents left properties in Emerald City for him, but that wasn't what Bryan wanted most. No property could compare to the companionship and love of his parents. Could they just abandon their carefully nurtured child when he reached a certain age? If so, how were Richard and Penelope any different from the despicable Hayden? Thinking of this, Emily couldn't help but feel indignant.

Bryan continued, "So, in the coming period, my mom will probably select a group of staff from the country to take abroad. JM Jewelry Company will inevitably lose some key personnel, and we need to recruit new people. I want to entrust this task to you."

Bryan's words snapped Emily back to reality. She blinked her beautiful eyes, her eyelashes fluttering like feathers.

"What? Surprised?" Bryan noticed her confusion, smiled, and continued. "Don't be modest. This isn't just my idea. Since my mom invited you to participate in JM Jewelry Company's decision-making and hired you as the managing director, it shows she fully recognizes your abilities. In the coming period, JM Jewelry Company will continue to rely on you, so the people working under you should be chosen by you."

Hearing this, Emily felt very gratified. She didn't expect that the person who showed her the most goodwill wasn't her father, but Penelope, whom she had only met a few times. Even Bryan treated her better than Michael.

"Thank you, and thank Ms. Blair for recognizing my work abilities. I'll go back and make a detailed plan and start looking for people. You will attend the recruitment fair, right? As the future successor, you need to oversee it for Ms. Blair," Emily said.

Bryan thought that Emily was the most considerate person he had ever met. He smiled and nodded, responding, "Sure, I'll go if I have time."

Emily left Bryan's house in the evening. Alice was with her. She had just attended a fashion party, so she arrived at the Watson Mansion a bit late, and naturally, the three of them chatted late.

Alice said, "I'm really sorry, Emily! We talked so much today! And I really appreciate it. You gave me more insight into the jewelry industry in Emerald City. I might really stay in Emerald City and not go abroad!"

After saying this, Emily looked at Bryan. She saw a flash of expectation in his eyes, and then he tenderly took Alice's hand and said, "I certainly hope you stay in Emerald City."

Given the Watson family's situation, Bryan would most likely stay in Emerald City in the future. If Alice left, wouldn't they become a long-distance couple? As Emily was thinking, she saw Alice leaning on Bryan without hesitation, and the two embraced deeply. Alice's sweet and soft voice followed, "Baby, I don't want to leave you either!"novelbin

Seeing this, Emily felt very awkward and quickly made a joke, "You two... aren't you being a bit too mushy?"
