Chapter 3186
Chapter 3186 A Joint Investigation
Eugene IV still wanted to argue with Wolfric, but Nathan gestured for him to stop.
He said indifferently, "Pope Eugene is right. Everyone in the alliance is preoccupied with their own thoughts, and everybody has a different opinion. I think it's not the time to launch an attack against the vampires, but what you said makes sense too, Wolfric. There's a need to ward the vampires off from breaking through our lines and prevent the blood virus from spreading once more. The best way is to quickly come up with a serum to combat the blood virus."
Wolfric scoffed, "What rubbish! Which country isn't actively carrying out research to find the serum to counteract the blood virus? The thing is how can it be developed so soon? Or do you have a plan?"
Nathan smiled and replied, "I do have something in mind."
His bold statement shocked Wolfric, Eugene IV, and Leopold.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
"What's your plan, Commander Cross?" Leopold, who was silent the whole time, finally spoke.
Nathan told them about his suspicion that the human scientists might have been helping the vampires to improve the blood virus, and that was why the virus became highly infectious.
After that, he looked at Eugene IV and the rest. "I hope that a few of us can team up and investigate this matter in secrecy. Once we find out who's aiding the vampires to do evil, we will act swiftly and arrest the human traitors. If we could get the information of the improved blood virus from the Shadow Scientists, it would be very easy for our scientists to use a reverse method and develop a serum as an antidote to the virus." Wolfric's face turned grim. "How can you be so sure that the human scientists are working with the vampires? Perhaps this is just your assumption."
Leopold, on the other hand, thought that Nathan's conjecture was not entirely baseless. All these while, the transmissibility of the vampires' blood virus had been quite low. Now, the virus had suddenly become stronger in its ability to infect, resulting in a massive outbreak of blood virus and vampires running rampant.
It may be true that the Shadow Scientists are aiding the vampires to improve the blood virus.
He uttered in a deep voice, "I think Mr. Cross' inference is kind of logical. Anyway, we'll be able to find out if the vampires have any accomplices when we join forces and investigate further. I bet there's nothing else in this world that can't be uncovered by us if we work together and conduct a joint investigation."
Wolfric was still hesitating. It was not that he had already ruled out Nathan's speculation to be false, but he was so used to contradicting the latter. He always wanted to disagree with anything that Nathan proposed. Right then, Eugene IV stared at Wolfric and asked coldly, "As far as I know, the blood virus first broke out near your country. Since you're unwilling to look into this matter, could it be that your scientists are the ones who helped the vampires to improve the blood virus, Mr. Welz?"
Upon hearing that, Wolfric was enraged. "What nonsense! You'd better watch your words. You have to bear responsibility for what you say."
Eugene IV narrowed his eyes and asked, "Then do you dare to agree to the investigation?"
"Go ahead! Why would I be afraid of that?"
When Nathan saw that Eugene IV had successfully angered Wolfric and made the latter join the team, he concluded the matter right away.
"Great! Now that everyone has
agreed to work on this together, we'll
.n
order our respective intelligence departments to carry out a thorough investigation. We must identify these human traitors and punish them severely. We must also obtain from them information about the blood virus in order to help our scientists create the serum."
All present then responded in unison, "Understood."
With that, everyone got ready to leave for further planning.
"Hang on, Mr. Welz," Nathan called out to Wolfric and stopped him.
"What else do you want?" Wolfric responded impatiently.
"Now that you've agreed to the joint investigation, what will happen when we find out that the Shadow Scientists are from your country?" Nathan asked calmly.
"That's impossible!"
"What if it's true? Does it mean that the alliance can then order a task force to arrest them personally from your country?"
Wolfric stated through gritted teeth,
"If it's true that the people from my
country are working with the
m
vampires, we'll agree for the alliance to send a task force there and arrest them. Together, we'll investigate the case thoroughly."
Nathan nodded. "Okay!"
