Chapter 1569
"Kind, virtuous?"
Frank almost laughed from sheer frustration-someone like Jackie, the manager of seedy joints, was kind and virtuous?!
"It doesn't matter! Jackie was killed, and that's a fact!"
A middle-aged woman strode up just then, choking with tears as she snapped, "He was such a good boy, but he's now dead because of that heinous prick!" "Exactly! Jackie's always been our little angel. How could he have attempted murder? It must be slander!"
"We can't believe him at all. And wasn't he the one who wore a knockoff suit?"
"Exactly. You can't trust a word he says!"Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Come to think of it, Lanecorp's probably nothing good. Helen Lane must be despicable just like him, which explains why they're a couple."
"Hah! I already knew that their entire family is a nest of vipers."
With the other women who knew Jackie jumping in to defend his honor, sentiment quickly turned one-sided.
Frank certainly would not sit by and watch them slander Helen, but before he could speak up, the crowd flinched dramatically as soon as he moved.
"Look! What's he doing now!"
"Don't tell me that he's going to start killing us now that we've exposed him?!"
"I knew it! Like we said you can see right away that he's nothing good!"
Frank was left frustrated right then, as he could neither speak up nor stay silent.
Even Helen-who was helping her mother to her feet-was left wondering if Frank was really trying to humiliate Gina after everything that had happened today, despite believing that Frank was not lying.
That was when Timothy Clarke, a rotund white-haired old man, limped toward the crowd, flanked by a large group of security guards.
He was the current head of the Clarke family, and by his side was Harley Fuch, his wife and Gina's old classmate.
"Dad, it's-"
Before the white-suited bridegroom
Eddie Clarke could speak, Timothy held up a hand, stopping him. "I heard everything. Someone's
causing havoc at this wedding
there's even been a murder. Am I correct?"
"Yeah..." Eddie nodded.
"Hmph!"
ve
Timothy thumped his cane on the ground, wheeling on Frank and growling coolly, "It's taboo to spill blood on a man's wedding day, but there's also this tradition to drain all the killer's blood to purify the occasion. As the murderer dies in anguish, the wedding would be blessed with prosperity."
Turning away, he bellowed, "Guards! Seize that murderer and drain his blood. It shall purify my son's wedding!" "Yes, sir!"
The security guards promptly rushed forward to subdue Frank, who merely stared fixedly at Timothy without resisting.
Meanwhile, even Harley Fuch was turning against Gina, glaring at her in disappointment. "I invited you to my son's wedding since we're former classmates, but you had to bring a jinx... Let's just stay away from each other from now on. Thank goodness your daughter rejected my son back then, or he'd be dead instead."
Gina almost choked as she watched her classmates all leaving her out in the cold. "This isn't my fault, Harley. It's Frank himself who..."
"Haha! Your son-in-law is such a treat!" Ilsa laughed just then. "He's really stealing the spotlight, getting a cheap knock-off suit and then killing Hardy's son. Tut, tut..."
