Chapter 36
Chapter 36
"It was only a few minutes. No big deal." Meredith could not help but retort.
It was a pity that the valuable fruits of labor would be dumped like this. Moreover, those raw materials
were also very expensive. If she wasted them, she would feel rather uneasy.
"Who's the boss, you or me?" Derek frowned and looked at her, "If you don't want to do it, you can
leave."
Meredith had no choice but to do it again. Derek had always threatened her with his status of the boss,
but she really couldn't refute it.
"Got it."
Since he had said so, that was all she could do.
Thinking about it, Meredith went out and worked hard on the rework. What she didn't expect was that
the second time, Derek said that too much sugar had affected the taste.
Meredith held back her anger and continued.
"The layers of the taste are not distinguished enough. Do it again."
Although she had remade the coffee several times, Derek was still not satisfied with her coffee. Until
the last time she made it, Meredith tasted the coffee which was said to be unqualified. It turned out that
it was already very delicious...
It was obvious that Derek was deliberately torturing her.
Thinking about it, Derek had been trying to get her out of here since she first came here, and even now,
he was still earnestly practicing what he preached, trying hard to make things difficult for her. He was
really frivolous.
With this thought, Meredith was not worried and anxious anymore. She did it in a slow and unhurried
way. Just let Derek wait. Anyway, he would not be satisfied in any case.
After a while, Damian came back.
He frowned when he saw a row of coffee cups next to the coffee machine, "What's going on?"
Meredith hurriedly stepped aside to make room for him, "Mr. Xavier was always not satisfied with my
coffee. I think you should take over."
Damian looked at the coffee she was making. He was so used to the job that he could tell at a glance
that it was not different from what he usually made.
However, since the boss didn't like it, there was no other way. After thinking about it, Damian took over
the work. He gave Meredith an address and send her to buy things there. In that way, without seeing
her, Derek wouldn't be unhappy. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
"It seems that coffee beans are not enough. Could you go and buy some for me?"
Meredith nodded and went out. On the way, she realized that there were several blisters on her fingers,
but she had no idea when she got scalded.
Perhaps it was because she was so serious about the temperature of the water, so she didn't notice
the water splashing and didn't feel the pain.
Now that she was free, she felt that it hurt a little.
Meredith sucked her finger in her mouth, then took a taxi to the coffee shop that Damian mentioned.
After Damian got the coffee ready, he served it to Derek's office.
Seeing that it was him, Derek only looked up slightly, "Where's that woman?"
Damian didn't know what the boss was thinking at the moment, so he could only answer honestly, "I
asked her to buy something."
Derek frowned slightly, "Next time, do not act on your own."
Damian nodded but couldn't help but mutter to himself in the heart. He couldn't figure out his boss's
thought. His boss was not satisfied with the coffee Meredith made for him. But now, when she had
been driven away, he didn't seem to be very happy, either.
However, Derek's mind was not something that ordinary people could understand. As a result, Damian
chose to shut up.
It was when Derek picked up the cup that he noticed that there was a note under it. He frowned and
glanced at it briefly.
"I'm sorry about what happened at the nightclub last time. I misunderstood you that I thought it was you
that spread that news at my former company. Now I realize that I have made a mistake. I'm truly sorry."
Meredith just wrote a few sentences compactly. Her handwriting was very beautiful with a unique style
that was different from what Derek imagined.
He had always thought that a woman like Meredith would not listen to the lectures carefully in class and
had no real skills. He had never expected that her handwriting was so well. It seemed that she was not
as ignorant and incompetent as he thought.
Moreover, its content aroused his curiosity.
"Where did she go?" Derek took the note and suddenly felt the urge to ask her about those words'
meaning.
"She is in the coffee shop in the west of the city." Damian answered as it was.
"Once she comes back, tell her to come to me." Derek gave the order faintly.
Damian went out without a single word.
When Meredith arrived at her destination, she didn't expect that the coffee beans were out of stock. To
get them, she had to wait until they were transferred from another branch.
Since she had nothing to do and had the risk of being embarrassed by Derek when she went back,
Meredith chose to sit aside and wait.
Just as she was waiting boringly, suddenly, someone came over and patted her on the shoulder.
Meredith turned around and found that it was Parker.
Upon seeing him, she gave a rare smile.
Parker looked her up and down, "Why did you suddenly ask for resignation? What was the matter? Did
someone else bully you in the company?"
After that day, Parker thought about going to Meredith again, but to his surprise, he only got the news
that she had left.
However, luckily, when he came here for afternoon tea, he met Meredith unexpectedly.
"No, um... I am now working for another company." Meredith didn't say anything about her present work
in the Xavier Group.
"Oh? How is it? Can you adapt yourself to the job? If you have trouble, tell me. I will do whatever I can
to help you."
Meredith shook her head and felt a faint warmth in her heart, "It's good. Nothing difficult."
Although Parker offered to help, Meredith did not like to trouble others.
Parker glanced at her and felt that she didn't seem as happy as she said. As his gaze sweeping, he
accidentally noticed Meredith's fingers.
There were a few red blisters on her long, fair fingers, and it seemed that they hadn't been treated
since they were scalded.
"What's wrong with your fingers?" Parker frowned.
"It's okay. I was just splashed by hot water. They'll be fine in a few days." It was only then that Meredith
remembered this, but she didn't really care about this little injury.
When she was in prison, what she had suffered was much worse than this, so she looked indifferent
about the blisters.
"Are you still a normal woman? You don't even care since you have hurt. It is said that a woman's
hands are as important as her face, and you should take care of them, right?" Parker looked at
Meredith's nonchalant expression and suddenly felt a little distressed in his heart.
Wasn't it normal for a girl to be coquettish and express her pain once she got injured?
Why did Meredith seem to be used to it? Was it because she knew that no one would care about her
words, so she pretended the indifference deliberately?
"Give me your hand. Let me take a look." Parker wanted to hold her hand. Meredith wanted to escape
but didn't manage it.
Parker caught her hand and Meredith felt the warmth in his clasp which made her blush.
She intended to pull her hand back but didn't make it, because Parker as a man was much stronger
than her.
Parker took a closer look at her hand and realized that not only was it scalded, but Meredith's palm
actually had a thick layer of calluses. Besides, there were many scars on her fingers, which were quite
obvious on her fair skin, destroying the original beauty.
His eyes dimmed, a mixture of emotions spreading over his face, "I'll get you some ointment."
"There's no need. It's really not that serious." Seeing that he had really made up his mind, Meredith
stopped him in a hurry. She was somewhat embarrassed by the sudden concern.
"Meredith, have you been suffering a lot? You have a lot of wounds on your hands." Parker looked
seriously into her eyes and asked.
The man's eyes showed his concern and enthusiasm, and there was no trace of discrimination or
disdain. Meredith's face was burning in an instant.
