The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 55

Chapter 55

"Who's that?" Following Derek into the office, Asher glanced at Meredith outside.

This was a new face. In order to avoid unnecessary trouble, Derek would normally not let women work

close to him.

"... An employee." Derek hesitated for a moment, then answered slightly.

Asher's eyes were sharp, so he wouldn't miss Derek's momentary unnatural behavior. "Bloody hell. No

way. You are interested in someone, aren't you?"

Derek was his buddy growing up. Asher knew him better than anyone else.

If that girl was really an insignificant employee, Derek would hesitate?

"Don't ask, okay." Derek frowned and suddenly felt that talking to an excessively familiar person was a

disturbing thing.

"So, you're not going to see Chloe?" Asher suddenly felt kind of sad.

Derek and Chloe were the favorite power couple in their circle. Everyone envied them. There was a

saying that seeing them, you knew what ideal love was.

Asher felt a sense of loss when he saw they, two friends growing up, broke up.

Without answering, Derek looked at the picture on the table, losing in thought for a moment.

In the photo was a young couple with school uniforms, both of whom were eighteen or nineteen. At that

time, they did not mature like this. Derek was held arm by Chloe, with a smile of amusement in his

eyes.

In a flash, it had been three years.

"I'll think about it." Derek put the photo down with a snap and looked at Asher. "You can go now."

"So heartless? Who's that girl outside? You are not interested in a love story about the president and

the cleaner, aren't you?"

Asher was not angry at being asked to leave. Instead, with a playful smile, he pointed at Meredith, who

was wiping the glass. He was indeed kind of curious about this woman.

He wondered she was special in what way and why Derek kept her by his side, although she was

indeed good-looking.

"Why are you so talkative? I need to work. If you want to stay, be quiet."

Derek glanced at Meredith, who was doing her own thing outside, and his eyes darkened. Then, he

looked down at the document at hand, refusing to talk to Asher. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

Asher felt bored. He wasn't interested in watching Derek work. It would be boring. Then he walked out,

and behind Meredith, he patted her on the shoulder mischievously.

Meredith was focusing on the work at hand, but she was suddenly touched and almost sprang.

Meredith had been bothered by Leo several times these days, and she was almost allergic to others'

touch.

"Why did you react so strongly?" Asher looked at Meredith, who jumped away like a little rabbit, and his

eyes were filled with interest.

The woman was scared, and her eyes were glittering. Her face turned blushed, making her fairly

adorable.

Did Derek like this type now?

Asher's eyes darkened. As a mutual friend of Chloe and Derek, he definitely wanted them to get back

together, so this woman was an obstacle.

"Sorry, I was scared..." Meredith shook her head. She thought it was Leo and subconsciously wanted

to avoid him.

"Do you work here?"

Meredith nodded. "Yes."

Not knowing the person in front of her, Meredith wouldn't say anything that shouldn't be mentioned.

"I'm Derek's friend." Asher looked at her expression but found nothing unusual.

"Well, what can I do for you?" Meredith was a little confused, but she asked politely.

"Nothing. You seem to be the first female employee to enter this floor, which seems that Derek has a

thing for you."

"Really? I'm just here to clean up, and I don't know anything else." Meredith quickly distanced herself

from Derek.

Asher saw that Meredith's lips were sealed, so it was no use to keep asking. He could only smile

embarrassedly. "All right. He is already in love with someone. I just remind you not to have a crush on

him, which will hurt you at last."

After saying that, Asher left. That was all he could do for Chloe.

Meredith looked at that man's back and then at the office. Through the window, she could only see

Derek's figure, but she couldn't see what he was doing.

Meredith had never thought that Derek would tell his friends who she was, but being directly told by his

friend to stop having imaginations, still made her feel uncomfortable.

It, perhaps, was Derek's real thought, and he felt embarrassed to tell her, so he asked his friend to say

that to her.

What was she imagining at first?

Derek helped her twice and she really fancied that he would fall in love with her?

This was ridiculous. Patting her cheek, Meredith looked away.

Unconsciously, it was the time to get off work.

Meredith silently followed Derek and got into the car. The man couldn't help but look at her and kind of

noticed that she seemed a little depressed.

Was Leo still bothering her?

Derek was about to ask when his phone rang. The number on it changed his face, but he still got out of

the car to answer the phone.

It was Chloe.

Derek and Chloe broke up because they had different opinions toward whether Chloe should be

studying abroad. And since then, they never contacted each other again.

They were both the chosen ones, who were surrounded as the core growing up. And both of them

would not eat crow first.

She had never returned to the country and had been chasing her music dream abroad. Derek had

been lying on the hospital bed and never took the initiative to look for her when he woke up.

He thought they would lose touch, but out of his expectation, Chloe called him.

Derek was split for a moment, and he realized that he missed the phone.

After a moment of contemplation, he called back.

After the call was joined, they were silent for a moment. Then, Chloe smiled and said, "I just thought

you didn't want to answer my call."

"Just missed that call. What's wrong? You call me out of blue." Derek shook his head, a little resigned.

In this world, it was only Chloe who dared to joke in front of him so unscrupulously.

"Will you come to my graduation ceremony?" Chloe clenched her fingers.

Three years ago, she left J City willfully. She had thought that Derek would come to see her, but he did

not come at last. Bottled up her fury, she studied abroad, intentionally not caring for anything, and

refused to return home.

But out of her expectation, the reason why Derek hadn't get in touch with her was that he had an

accident.

That was why she regained the courage to make this call.

After drifting from place to place for so many years, meeting so many people, no one was better than

Derek. After all, her favorite person was still Derek.
