Heiress’s Return 315
On the hospital bed, Walter, in just black shorts, showed off his sculpted physique. He propped himself up and started getting dressed.
A knock on the door made him call out, "Come in."
The doctor entered, excited, holding a freshly printed exam report. "Mr. Lopez, almost ninety percent of your injured nerves and muscle tissue have healed! The itching and soreness are just signs of recovery. Soon, you'll stand and walk normally again." As the doctor spoke, he couldn't help but admire Walter's progress. "Who's the miraculous healer behind your recovery? I'd love to consult them; this is amazing!"
In just a few months, Walter was nearly back to normal. Such medical skill was rare, both nationally and globally.
Walter smiled faintly at the compliment. "She is remarkable, but she doesn't want to be disturbed."
The doctor looked disappointed. "Oh! The healer wants to stay unobtrusive? What a pity!"
Having finished dressing, Walter kept a neutral expression. "This shouldn't be discussed publicly."
"Got it," the doctor replied.
Walter settled into his wheelchair and left the exam room.
Brian was waiting in the hallway with Berry, who was anxiously fidgeting.
Seeing Walter, she rushed forward, concern on her face. "Mr. Lopez, why are you at the hospital? Are you okay?"
Walter coldly replied, "What happened with Shakira?"
Berry felt her concern dismissed, leaving her awkward.
She lowered her head, biting her lip, hesitating. "I'm not sure if I should say this..."
Walter's patience vanished. He told Brian, "Take her back to the company."
"I'll speak!" Fearing Brian would whisk her away, Berry grabbed the safety strap on the wheelchair tightly.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Today, Mr. Reynolds from Yonder Digital came looking for Shakira. We were in a meeting when Shakira saw him and went outside. Everyone noticed their closeness; she was the one who took Mr. Reynolds away." Feeling Walter's icy gaze, Berry grew cautious.
"I hesitated a long time before telling you! I don't doubt Shakira, but everyone's gossiping about her interactions with male colleagues. Nobody knows about her relationship with you-what will they think if they find out?" Walter coldly retorted, "Who are these people you speak of?"
Though unsure of his intent, Berry felt a chill. "Just some colleagues in the department..."
Walter pressed, "Who?"
His words were heavy, full of storm
Berry was momentarily stunned by Walter's rising anger.

Without thinking, she blurted out names of some gossiping female colleagues from Norpa Technology.
Afterward, regret washed over her, and she pleaded, "People can be cruel, Mr. Lopez! I want to help Shakira, but there are things I can't address as an outsider."
Walter interjected, "You, an outsider, don't need to worry about is."
He glanced at Berry and told Brian, "Send her back."
Brian nodded.
Frightened, Berry was eager to escape Walter's presence and hurried away, moving faster than Brian.
After sending Berry off, Brian returned to the car.
Inside, the atmosphere was tense as Walter reclined, eyes closed
Brian said, "Today, Mr. Reynolds visited and wanted Xanthe with him during the tour, and they spent nearly half an hour alone on the rooftop. Afterward, Sean met with Ms. Nelson; their chat lasted less than two minutes."
[
Hearing this, Walter opened his eyes, his gaze calm yet unreadable. "In less than two minutes, there's already gossip?"
Brian continued, "Ms. Nelson is busy and not very sociable; recently, she's been getting closer to interns Larry and Quincy, which has sparked gossip..."
Walter replied, "People from Norpa Technology should focus on their work, not on who's associating with whom."
He smirked coldly. "Those partners aren't worth Lopez Group's time."
Brian understood immediately. "I'll have the legal department draft a termination contract."
Walter didn't respond, implicitly agreeing.
Brian asked, "What about Ms. White?"
Walter interrupted, "Brian, tell me, who's better-Sean or me?"
Walter's sudden question nearly made Brian's heart stop.
Brian thought, 'Oh no, is Walter actually jealous?'
Without hesitation, he declared, "You are unmatched."
His resolute expression showed unwavering conviction. "Ms. Nelson's feelings for you are clear. No one else can sway her."
Walter huffed softly. "I never doubt her feelings for me."
This relieved Brian, but he remained puzzled. "Then why compare yourself to Mr. Reynolds?"
Walter countered, "Why do you think Berry rushed to tell me when she saw Sean looking for Shakira?"
Walter's gaze was piercing, sharp as an eagle's, able to see right through anyone.
Even Brian, not experienced in love matters, began to understand. "Ms. White will also be addressed."
Walter turned to look out the window, silent for a moment, then calmly instructed, "Since Yonder Digital and Mr. Reynolds didn't get proper hospitality at Lopez Group, invite Mr. Reynolds to dinner at Veiled Vine tonight." Brian, initially thinking he understood Walter's intentions, was taken aback. "What?"

Mon,
Seeing Walter's cold profile, Brian's heart raced.
He thought, Just moments ago, Mr. Lopez seemed intent on defending Shakira-why invite Mr. Reynolds to dinner now? Is Mr. Lopez truly jealous?'
During lunch, Shakira received the Rippling Heart set from Xanthe.
Xanthe, holding a steaming rack of lamb chops, stuffed her mouth. "Last night, I scrolled through videos, and nearly all were about Rippling Heart. I clicked on the ones I didn't like, and still got more. It infuriated me!"
