The True Lady Strikes Back novel (Cecilia and Christopher)

Chapter 26

Chapter 26

William’s parents rebuked him so much that he no longer felt comfortable at home after he broke off his

engagement with Juliana. So, he called his reprobate friends and arranged a meeting at Skyhaven

Club.

After being kicked out of the bar area, he was blacklisted, so he could only drink in the restaurant.

He was already drunk. His eyes were hazy, and he was staggering as he walked.

He did not recognize Cecilia at all.

“Have a drink with me, pretty. I have money and a lot of it.”

As he spoke, he swayed his wrist, showing off a watch worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and he

reached out to hug Cecilia’s shoulder.

Cecilia deliberately looked to William’s back and called out Juliana’s name.

William still planned on getting back together with Juliana, so he was horrified that he had a sudden

rush of sobriety.

He immediately looked back but did not find Juliana.

Realizing he had been fooled, he looked back furiously and noticed it was Cecilia playing a prank on

him.

He was completely sober when he thought about the plan with Juliana.

Cecilia was a lone wolf, so it was difficult to scheme against her. He did not expect the opportunity

would come so soon.

He smirked maliciously. “Quite capable of you to sleep with Uncle Christopher, Cecilia. No wonder

you’re so arrogant.”

He looked Cecilia up and down. The sinister glint in his eyes was evident.

“She must be good in bed to make Uncle Christopher fall in love with her. She may have been played

with, but I don’t mind trying out Christopher’s woman,” he thought.

Cecilia narrowed her eyes. As she looked at William, digging his own grave, she responded in an icy

voice.

“Why? Are you envious? Shall I introduce you to a hospital for gender reassignment surgery?”

William agreed with a grin. “Sure. Let’s take our time and discuss it over a drink.”

“Now is not the time to get angry. Getting Cecilia is the priority,” he thought.

“Did you have a personality change, Mr. Forte? You’re being very patient.”

As she finished speaking, she immediately corrected herself. “No, perhaps you’ve been possessed.”

“This jerk is so obvious that I can’t even ignore his intentions. Someone as st* pid as him is quite a

great match for Juliana,” she thought.

William was already bad–tempered. After another taunt from Cecilia, he could not hold it in anymore.

He could no longer be bothered by Cecilia’s nonsense, so he reached out to grab her, trying to take her

away forcibly.

Cecilia was about to break William’s hand when she heard sounds of leather shoes stepping on the

floor, quickly approaching her.

She recognized it was Christopher.

She turned her lower body to avoid blocking William and affecting Christopher’s performance.

Christopher kicked William in the chest.

William was sent stumbling a few steps back and fell to the

ground heavily. He clutched his chest as his face turned as pale

as a ghost.

He was about to curse and immediately chickened out when he saw Christopher with a dark

expression.

“U–Uncle Christopher, I was just joking around with Cecilia.”

Christopher took two steps forward and stepped on William’s hand with his polished shoe.

Then, Christopher squatted down, adding more pressure to his foot.

William felt his hand was about to be crushed. He was grunting in pain.

“I won’t do it again, Uncle Christopher. Please spare me.”

Christopher pinched William’s face and snorted. “Didn’t hear a thing I said last time?”

When William troubled Cecilia in Skyhaven Club last time, Anthony, the manager, escorted him to

Christopher.

Christopher did not reveal Cecilia’s identity then but warned William to behave. He also broke William’s

limbs as a punishment.

He did not expect the fool to forget this lesson in just two days. William’s body shivered in pain. “I was

wrong, Uncle Christopher. I know I’m wrong.”

“My hand is going to shatter if he keeps stepping on it,” he thought.

“Are you going to just admit your mistake verbally? That’s too insincere.”

William had compensated a large amount of money to Cecilia last time, and his pockets were now

empty.

“Uncle Christopher, I have a record label under my name. If Ms. Yancey is interested, she can have it.”

He knew Cecilia sang well, so he tried to cater to her interest.

Christopher got up and looked at Cecilia. “Are you interested?”

Cecilia shrugged. “No, but I’ll take it since it’s an offer.”

Christopher suddenly leaned closer to Cecilia and whispered in her ear, “Why don’t you want mine, but

his?”

Sensing his thick masculine aura brushing against her face, Cecilia was so nervous she had forgotten

to step back.

She leaned back instinctively, trying to distance herself from the presence that made her

uncomfortable, but she started falling backward because she backed too far.

She subconsciously grabbed Christopher’s arm and swayed her body forward.

As a result, she exerted more force than intended and fell into the man’s embrace, catching his

refreshing, cedar–like fragrance.

Cecilia hurriedly pushed Christopher away, her face turning red.

“Sorry, Mr. Christopher Forte.”

Christopher looked at the embarrassed Cecilia and said with a smile, “It’s okay.”

Then he turned to William and hissed, “Transfer the company to Cecilia before tomorrow at 10 a.m. If

you dare harass her again, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Scram!”

A sense of relief washed over William. He nodded repeatedly, scrambled to his feet, and fled, clutching

his swollen hand.

Christopher knew William was only acting obediently. He might be cursing Christopher in his heart,

yearning to tear the latter apart.

Yet, Christopher could not care less. William was but a buffoon.

His eyes fell on Cecilia, who was still blushing. He said, “William is full of mischief and pettiness. You

should be careful these days.”

Cecilia nodded. “I will. I don’t want William’s record label. You can have it.”

Although she liked money, she did not want to run the

company or owe Christopher a favor.

Christopher was not interested in the record label. “William’s record label disgusts me. If you don’t want

it, give it to someone else.”

With that, he walked toward a private room.

Looking at Christopher’s tall and sturdy figure, Cecilia frowned.

She really could not figure this man out.

So, she ran after him and asked directly, “Mr. Christopher Forte, do you like me?”

Christopher stopped in his tracks and hesitated for a few seconds before admitting it.

“Yes.”

Cecilia was caught off guard by his firm reply and asked, “Why?”

The only time they had crossed paths was when she played the drums in Skyhaven Club, but they had

never spoken a single word to each other before.

It sounded like a lie when he said he liked her. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

“There’s no reason. If you insist on an answer, you may

consider I was attracted to your looks.”

“Mr. Christopher Forte, you’re not that shallow of a person, are you?”

“The desire for beauty is universal.”

After saying that, Christopher opened the door to the private

room.

Cecilia’s words of refusal were stuck in her throat, and she

could not spit it out.

Yvette welcomed Cecilia, inviting the latter to sit beside her. “Why were you gone for so long, Ceci? Did

something happen?”

“It was nothing. Why haven’t you ordered anything yet?”

“We were waiting for you. Order whatever you want. It’s Christopher’s treat.”

When Yvette handed the menu to Cecilia, she whispered, “The specialty dishes here are pretty good,

but they only serve one in a day. It’s super delicious. You can try it.”

Yvette had eaten it once, which was brought back to her as takeout by Calvin. She could not forget the

taste even now.

Cecilia knew Yvette wanted it, so she ordered one.

Calvin looked at Christopher, and the latter was silent, indicating a tacit consent.

Calvin tutted inwardly, thinking, “He’s already spoiling her before they even dated. What’s going to

happen to them after?”

Calvin had made the appointment for this place a year ago but had never tasted the specialty dish.

“Christopher. That jerk! Our friendship means nothing to him,” Calvin cursed inwardly.

He deliberately teased, “Christopher, are you going to break the iron rule of only serving one in a day?”

“It’s my shop. The rules are for others to follow.”

Calvin shifted his gaze back and forth between Christopher and Cecilia. Then, he asked meaningfully,

“So, Cecilia isn’t considered as the others?”
