Chapter 13
Adelie POV
After spending some time with Cynthia, I finally decide to go home.
The drive back home was tiring and exhausting, and luckily, Asher was not around by the time I got home. Maybe he still hasn't returned from work yet. Besides, dad left a lot of things for him to take care of before he traveled. Releasing a deep sigh, I throw myself on the couch and ruffle my hair slowly. I'm stressed.
Recalling that Raymond asked us to stroll tonight, I stand up to my feet and drag myself up to my room upstairs, and as soon as I walk in, I strip out of my clothes, and dash into the bathroom.
My phone suddenly starts ringing, and I pick it up from the bed as soon as I step into my room. It's Raymond on the phone.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Hey, momma. I'm waiting for you outside," His voice sounds from the other end as soon as I answer the call, and I glance at the wall clock to see that it's past 8pm.
"I'll be there shortly," I reply to him before the call ends. Now, thinking about Asher, I can't help but ask myself where he is. I have been home for over an hour, and he's yet to be home. Where the hell is he?
I finally get dressed and leave my room to join Raymond outside. The empty living room welcomes me, as there's no sign of Asher anywhere around, and I'm beginning to get worried about him. He has never stayed out this late before. Is he ok? Did something happen to him? Where the hell would he be by now?
"It's a good thing he's not at home anyway. At least you'll have all the time in the world to spend with your boyfriend," My subconscious mind reminds me, but I still feel a bit worried about him.
Finally pushing all the thoughts to the back of my mind, I stride toward the door and pull it open, revealing Raymond that's leaning against his black car which is just parked outside the gate. A sweet and exciting smile laces up my lips as I stare at him. He's cute, and I can't deny that.
Stepping out of the gate a few minutes later, he pulls me into his arms and hugs me tightly like he has been looking forward to doing this. Although I feel a little uncomfortable doing this with him, since it feels so weird, but I also know that I should be calm and get used to it since he's my boyfriend now.
"You look gorgeous as always," I blush at his compliments, and he chuckles as he tucks his hands in his pockets and leans against the car again, checking me out with his eyes, and I turn my face away shyly. "Thank you," I smile at him shyly.
"I already booked a restaurant for us tonight, why don't we go there and have something to eat first?" He asks.
"Sure," I reply to him. He finally pulls the door open for me, and I hop inside the car. He walks over to the driver's seat and hops in before he zooms off.
Driving down the road a few minutes later, I stare out through the window as the thought of Asher lingers in my mind, and I can only get more worried.
"Are you ok? You look disturbed," His voice brings me back to reality, and I quickly nod my head.
"Yes, I'm fine," He stares at me with a suspicious look on his face, before he finally turns his gaze back to the road.

Twenty minutes passed before we finally arrive at the spacious restaurant which I'm just being to for the second time. This was the same restaurant he brought me to the other time that he proposed to me.
"Do you like it here? If you don't, we can go to another place," He asks as we walk side by side toward the entrance door, but I shake my head in denial, and he smiles at me.
We finally walk into the restaurant, and as expected, the table has already been set with varieties of food on it.
An awkward silence assumes the air as we both eat silently later, the thought of Asher disturbing me, no matter how much I try to push it away.
"You have been acting weird. You can talk to me if there's a problem. Are you ok?" He asks for the second time with a worried look on his face.
"Don't you like it here? Don't you want to hang out with me? It's fine if you don't want to, baby. I will take you back home," He quickly says, and I shake my head.
"No, it's not like that. Uhm... Excuse me, I need to use the restroom," I quickly stand up and grab my phone before I leave for the restroom. Maybe putting him on call would make me feel a little at ease. Arriving at the female restroom, I quickly scroll through my phone and dial his number. He picks up on the first ring.
"Where the hell are you, Asher? Do you know what time it is now?" I almost yell at him, but I end up being a bit calm.
"You should go to bed without me. I have something to take care of, and I don't think I'll be back home today," He replies to me bluntly, and I scoff angrily. To think that I have been so fucked up about this dude. What the hell? "Are you kidding me? I've been so worried sick about you, and all you do is talk to me like that as if what you did wasn't a big..."
"I told you that I have something to take care of here, so can you just go ahead and stop fucking making me repeat myself?" He sounds a bit pissed, and even though he's not here with me, I flinch at the imagination of what he'll look like right
now.
"Oh... Ok..."
"Good night," The call drops dead after his voice sounds through the phone, and I slowly clench my fingers tightly in anger. I don't know if I'm hurt because of the way he spoke to me, or because he won't be coming home tonight. This is crazy.
Taking a deep breath, I finally turn and stride out of the restroom.
"Are you okay? Did anything happen? Why are you crying?" Raymond bombards me with questions when I arrive at the restaurant, but I shake my head instead.
"I'll take a cab home. I'll see you at the office tomorrow," With that said, I turn and stride out of the restaurant, not sparing him another glance even as he keep calling my name. I know I shouldn't be doing this to Raymond, but I just can't help it.
"Can you at least wait and let me drive you home, please?" He rushes over to me and holds my hand, bringing me to a halt.
"I'll be fine with a cab home," I retract my hand from his grasp, and flag down a cab. I hop in, and the cabby drives away...
