Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 751

Entering the lab, a nurse approached to draw blood from Galen Martin.

"Thank you."

After expressing his gratitude, Galen pressed a cotton ball to the needle mark and asked Sherilyn Gomez, "When will the results be ready?"

"Tomorrow."

Thanks to Dr. Neil's connections, they had managed to expedite the process.

"That's quick." Galen nodded. "Call me when you get the results, okay?"

Sherilyn pursed her lips, pausing for a moment. "If, and I mean if, we're a match..."This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

"Then we go ahead with the surgery."

Galen smiled, knowing what she meant. "Isn't that why I'm here today?"

"...Right."

Sherilyn frowned slightly and nodded. After hesitating for a moment, she sincerely said, "Thank you."

"Hey..."

Galen's smile softened. "You don't need to say that; it's too much for me. Everything I have now, I owe to you. I can never fully repay you in this lifetime. I just hope we're a match. You don't need to thank me; I'm just trying to make things right."

Sherilyn felt a swirl of emotions, unsure how to respond. If he truly meant what he said, then Galen was indeed a diamond in the rough.

...

Leaving the hospital, the siblings parted ways at the entrance, each heading off to their own commitments.

Sherilyn checked her phone, which remained silent... Gilbert Johnson hadn't contacted her. And there was no word from Francis Johnson either. What was going on? Where was he?

For the past few days, Sunhaven had been drenched with continuous rain. As night fell, the rain intensified. Listening to the downpour outside, Sherilyn had just put Jenna to sleep and went to the living room for a glass of water.

A thunderclap echoed in the distance, causing Sherilyn to jump, spilling some water. Suddenly, an indescribable feeling washed over her. Sherilyn quickly set down her glass and rushed to the window, pulling back the curtain to peer outside. Darkness blanketed the

scene, with tree shadows swaying in

the storm.

In that gloom, Sherilyn thought she saw a faint glimmer of light! Her heart raced as she quickly turned, grabbed an umbrella, and dashed out the door.

Descending to the ground floor, Sherilyn ventured into the rain, her voice carrying over the storm, "Gilbert? Gilbert, is that you?"

She scanned her surroundings, but the faint light she had spotted from upstairs was nowhere to be found. Had she been mistaken? "Gilbert! Gilbert... are you there?"

After a few more calls with no response, she began to doubt her eyes.

"Sherilyn."

Just as she was about to head back, she heard someone call her name. That voice was unmistakably Gilbert's!

Sherilyn spun around, following the sound. Under a sycamore tree, Gilbert stood tall, smiling at her. She had seen him smile before, but at this moment, his smile looked more pained than joyful.

Sherilyn stepped closer, holding the umbrella over both of them. "It really is you!"

"It's me," Gilbert confirmed with a nod, still smiling. He looked like he had been standing there for ages, completely soaked.

"In this pouring rain..."

Sherilyn raised the umbrella higher over his head. "What are you doing standing out here?"

Gilbert didn't answer, just kept

looking at her with a smile that seemed glued to his face. Sherilyn couldn't understand what was amusing him. "Where have you been these past few days? Do you

know

your brother has been looking everywhere for you? And you haven't even answered your phone..."
