Chapter 852
Chapter 852 Can I Kiss You?
William drove to the Filo Group's office in Capebatt City. He circled around the parking lot, and after spotting Emelie's car, he parked right next to it.
Glancing at his watch, he saw that it was already 12:30 pm.
Emelie rarely stayed at the office all day. Usually, she would finish her work by noon and leave.
At her level, there was no need for her to punch in and out every day. Her time was better spent on more important matters.
William patiently waited until 1:30 pm. As expected, he saw her walking out with Jodie.
He stepped out of the car.
Jodie immediately noticed him and whispered something to Emelie.
Emelie lifted her head to look. Her hair was tied into a low ponytail and held together with a ribbon. She was wearing a ruffled white chiffon blouse paired with a black pencil skirt that draped beautifully, making her look both comfortable and elegant.
Emelie didn't stop walking. Her low heels made crisp clicks against the cement ground as she moved.
She said, "How should I put this? I'm getting used to running into you around every corner, Mr. Middleton."
William noticed the pearl earrings she was wearing. They were smooth and round, which perfectly complemented her complexion. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
He said abruptly, "Xanther Group has a major partner with the last name Fisher. He has suddenly decided to sign a six-month contract."
Emelie shifted her eyes. "Oh?"
"Elias is in charge of hosting him," William added. "What do you think about that?"
Emelie paused. "Are you really going to help me to the end?"
Jodie, who was standing nearby, was totally confused.
Were they having some sort of coded conversation that outsiders couldn't understand? Why was nothing making sense to her?
Why was William telling Emelie about hosting a client for Xanther Group? And how was that supposed to help her?
William looked down at her. "Yes, I'll help you to the end. So, are you going to thank me? I don't need you to repay me. I just want you to not marry Wesley."
Jodie was stunned. She immediately glanced at Emelie to see her reaction.
Emelie said calmly, "It rained last night in Capebatt City, so it's a little chilly. Tell Elias to take Mr. Fisher to stay at Kavsen Resort. They've got hot springs, food, and entertainment. I'm sure Mr. Fisher will feel well taken care of there, and he'll happily sign the renewal contract."
William said in a deep voice, "I'll take that as a yes. You can't back out."
Emelie motioned for Jodie to bring the car around. She replied indifferently, "Any promise that isn't written in black and white is just the parties to a contract playing games."
So, she hadn't agreed.
William studied her. She seemed to be in a good mood lately. She had dressed up, and she looked beautiful and was even wearing a light jasmine-scented perfume.
What was she so happy about? Was it because Ashley's condition had improved? Was it because Beathan had made a move? Or was it simply because things were happening in her favor?
Or could it be because her wedding date was getting closer?
William had been so sure that Emelie and Wesley wouldn't get married, but Jayden's words made him feel uneasy.
She had loved Wesley for so many years. He was her first love and her ideal, and he was much more significant to her than her family. Maybe she would choose to go through with the wedding after all.
If Elias could say something as crazy as comparing his relationship with Ashley to a mother- son bond, then it proved that people really could lose all sense when they were desperate.
Suddenly, William reached out and cupped Emelie's chin.
Her makeup was subtle. Her lipstick was a soft, muted shade that almost matched her natural lip color. The hint of red was just enough to brighten her complexion.
Emelie frowned and tried to slap his hand away, but he pressed his thumb against her lips. " Can I kiss you?"
Emelie thought that he had lost his mind. She sneered. "What do you think?"
William leaned in.
Emelie's hand was already raised, ready to strike, but he kissed her thumb.
