CHAPTER 162
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 32
Harriette’s POV
It felt strange.
The fact that these people looked familiar felt strange to me. It was as though a part of me had been waiting for them all my life but to be sincere, I knew nothing about them.
The bathroom door opened and a woman came out. She froze as soon as she laid her eyes on me. Her mouth slightly dropped open and I could see her fingers twitching. When she recovered, she moved towards one of the two men and they held hands.
She whispered something that didn’t interest me. I was more bothered about how and why I looked just like a perfect combination of these two strangers.
Who were they? Why are they here? And why was I here? Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
I turned to Rowan for an explanation but he said nothing. He only stared at me for a second, making butterflies flutter in my stomach before he looked away. The feelings were overwhelming, and I couldn’t make sense of what to do with it all.
The feelings were overwhelming, and I couldn’t make sense of what to do with it all.”
I felt burdened all of a sudden.
“I think you should sit. You look pale,” Rowan whispered behind me.
I wasn’t sure I heard him clearly the first time.
“What?” I asked.
“You should sit,” he pointed at a couch opposite that of the people standing and staring at me like I was a puppet on parade.
The look in their eyes was filled with stories of love, pain and sadness all combined together. It wasn’t a sight to watch.
Mother taught me people like that were broken and it was better to avoid them. They mess with your head and turn you into them. It’s better if you have control of your emotions, she had warned.
Why was I remembering things like that at this moment? I suddenly didn’t want to think about Mother or anything she had said.
As I sat down, I grabbed the hem of my skirt and made sure to dig my fingers into my skin so I could keep control of my thoughts.
“Who are they?” I looked beside me to ask Alpha Rowan but I realized he wasn’t there so I turned around to see him standing behind me. Both his arms were behind his back as if he was protecting me.
“That’s Luna Angela and that’s her husband, Alpha Darius, and his brother Alpha Mason,”
I nodded. “Okay? So, why am I here?” I asked him again.
“I’m sure they can answer that,”
I turned to the three of them. My heart suddenly began racing fast. I was nervous and I needed them to tell me whatever it was they wanted. I tapped my feet uncontrollably on the floor, following a rhythm that I wasn’t conscious of. The man called Alpha Darius, stared at my feet before he smiled.
“Thank you, Alpha Rowan,” Alpha Darius said. “Harriette, several years ago, twelve years ago to be precise, our daughter went missing. We’ve been searching for her and not for once did we give up on our search. My wife here sends out paintings to different Packs to see if it would help our daughter remember us because we believed she was alive and that she is somewhere we just don’t know yet. So, days ago, we got a call from the Werewolf King. He said he saw two girls who shared some similarities and there was every possibility that one of them could be our daughter. He meant you and your sister, Ella. We talked to Ella already and we were hoping we could talk to you too,”
I nodded reluctantly. Was that why Ella looked miserable? What exactly did they say to her?

I’m guessing you should recognize Alpha Mason here. You guys met some nights ago,”
I stared at Alpha Mason and frowned. I shook my head. “I don’t know him,” I said, even though he looked familiar and like I’d seen him days ago.
They shared a look and turned back to me.
“You’re a Dreamwalker, right?”
I shook my head again with so much confidence. “No, I’m not. The Werewolf King already asked me and I said no,”
What is the recent obsession with Dreamwalking? Why does everyone want to know if I was that or not?
“In case no one has ever told you, you are a Dreamwalker. In fact, you come from a long line of Alphas and Dreamwalkers,” Alpha Mason said with as much confidence as I’d replied to him.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,”
“You’re tapping your feet rhythmically, Harriette,” Luna Angela suddenly mentioned pointing at my feet.
“What?”
She laughed bitterly. “I also do that when I’m trying to cover up something,”
I froze. What the heck was that? It sounded weird but she was right. I never even realized I had a habit like that when I lie.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,”
Alpha Darius caught my eye and somehow, I stared back at him. “I think you’re our daughter,”
He said.
I shook my head frantically. “I’m not your…” I paused all of a sudden and asked, “What did you just say?” I asked again.
He frowned. “I said you might be our daughter,” he answered.
“No, after that,”
“Reina. I said Reina because our daughter’s name was Reina,”
I stared at him. Unknowingly, tears filled my eyes. The mystery I’d been trying to solve. The person I’d been looking for was…
me?
Was that even possible? If yes, then what is the voice in my head? Why did I keep hearing that name even in my sleep? Everything around me seemed to have stopped for a few seconds.
All my life, nothing existed outside my wall. The ones I’d built for myself. Why had my life suddenly taken a 360–degree twist as soon as I stepped into this pack?
No! My life didn’t become a mess because I came here. It became a mess the moment I locked eyes with her red wolf in the mirror.
Luna Angela slid a phone across the table. It had a picture of a young girl who looked just like me.
No!
“I’m not your daughter,” I answered.
“Harriette?”
Rowan called.
“NO! NO! STOP!” I yelled at him. “I don’t know what kind of twisted games you’re all trying to play here but I’m not whoever this Reina is. I’m not your daughter. I’ve never been your daughter,” I answered in one breath.
“Okay, okay. Just calm down,” Alpha Darius asked me.

I stood up from my seat and bowed. “I wish you all the best in finding your daughter but that’s not me. I’m not your daughter, Okay?” I repeated before I ran out of the room. Tears leaked out of my eyes.
Dear heavens, please, don’t let me be their daughter.
